Where's The Title?!

By Jeepn247 on 2/13/2019 at 11:47 PM. Helped by Multiple.

My son purchased a car from Auffenberg in November 2018 and has yet to receive the title. We are still hopeful this matter can be resolved. It's discouraging to have a nice little car sitting in the drive that's pretty much useless.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Never fixed it

By murrellg on 10/5/2018 at 7:21 PM. Helped by Tim. Rob.

On 4 August I decided to finally take advantage of the Ram clearance to purchase my SECOND Ram truck. I nearly bought the exact same Laramie at a competing dealer, but chose Auffenberg instead. I picked a Ram, and during the test drive noticed a slight vibration coming from the rear end. Not being a mechanic, the salesman and I concluded that it is likely a tire slightly out of alignment. We agreed upon making the sale that it would be serviced, tire rebalanced, and that would be that. More to follow: I happily purchased the Ram after it was washed and parked under the big dark awning for delivery after my inspection. I took the Ram home, then my son to the Drive-Inn, and then noticed a small dent above the rear passenger door handle on the way home. On the following Monday, 2 days after I bought the truck, I brought it up to my salesman who said he would check with his manager about the dent. I NEVER heard back. After a small road trip the vibration never went away. I then took the Ram in for the promised wheel check and rebalancing, spent most of the morning instead of at work waiting in the dealership. Happy again I hopped in the Ram, only to notice the vibration didn't fade. I then made a second appointment with the service department and luckily got a decent borrower car from the dealer. This time Rob left the ticket open to see if I approved of the second inspection/rebalance/service or whatever they may have done. After a quick test drive with Rob I was able to quickly point out the problem. At the end of the day, and missing a few more hours of work I returned hopeful the problem was resolved. Nope. A few days later, riding with my son, he asked me what was wrong with the truck. The vibration in my BRAND NEW RAM had not gone away. Dismayed again, I left a message with Rob to bring it back in (24 September). After a quick drive with the technician I caught a ride from the dealership with Enterprise to pick up the nasty rental they decided to leave me instead of a borrower I thought was arranged. This time apparently the technician used a donor truck to swap the tires and drive-shaft to my truck. I came back, more time from work, to drive my truck, which seemed promising and relatively vibration free. Rob then told me he hoped I could get my truck back, complete, the next day. The next day (25 September) I called Rob at 10 to inquire. He told me hopefully the truck would be finished in a few hours. At two I finally got called back. I drove the nasty Enterprise rental back, drove my truck, again, and found the vibration had actually gotten worse. Now thoroughly pissed I drove back to the dealer and sought my salesman, who no longer works there, then talked to the sales manager, Mike. I told him the story, and asked if I could drive a similar Ram to mine to see if I was overreacting and perhaps it was the brand. After driving the similar truck, which drove like a new truck should, I returned to Mike. I wasn't expecting miracles, or reimbursement, or anything except my BRAND NEW TRUCK to be a brand new truck. He essentially told me to take it up with Ram. To be honest, the staff at Auffenberg are great people and personally I have no qualms with them. Rob was great and just as patient as I was. Most people I know would not have lasted THREE attempts to rectify whatever the xxxx is going on. I just want the expensive BRAND NEW TRUCK I just bought to be the way it should be: smooth and dent free. I didn't expect to be brushed away and sent to Ram to hopefully and eventually solve my problem. I'm now driving a BRAND NEW TRUCK that makes me cringe every time my hand shakes or a drink in the cupholder vibrates. I have no pleasure in driving my BRAND NEW TRUCK with only 2170 miles as most people in a new ride should feel. I regret going to Auffenberg now. My second car, a 2011 GTI was serviced at the Ram neighbor, Auffenberg Volkswagen. I asked the parts guy there to price me some floor mats and other accessories, but I never heard from him. I regret going to any Auffenberg at all now. I've spent an equivalent to a day of vacation dealing with this from away from work. Perhaps I should have listened to all the people that told me not to go to Auffenberg. I was considering replacing my aging GTI but I'll definitely go elsewhere.

I would not recommend this dealer.

I would definitely go here again to buy a car. My salesman Danny was great. Showed me the 2 cars I was interested in didn’t try to force a different car on me.. The process took a little long but it was a great deal. I’d definitely recommend going here!

This place is a joke...

By Disappointed Customer... on 2/14/2018 at 1:57 AM. Helped by Eric Galloway, Jared Symonds.

Don't ever buy a vehicle from this place. I had been speaking with Jared (salesperson) about a vehicle that I was really interested in purchasing. Made an appointment to come in the next morning to look at the vehicle. Was emailed before I left the house confirming my appointment to look at the vehicle. Great! Well not so great. I arrived at the dealership, excited to look at the the vehicle. I asked for Jared and was told he wasn't even there! I said he and I had an appointment, and his "partner" (Eric G.) told me the vehicle was sold the day before. I said xxx? I was talking to Jared last night right before closing time and was told the vehicle was still available. I wasn't told it had been sold when my appointment that morning was confirmed. Needless to say, I was a little ticked off. Eric told me they had a similar vehicle available that was a year newer, and they can maybe work with me to get close to where I wanted to be price wise. Dummy me, I bit that line of BS.... So we go look at this similar vehicle, which wasn't similar at all. Didn't have the upgraded stereo, didn't have the sunroof, and most importantly, didn't have the heated/ventilated seats that I really wanted. I specifically brought this issue to his attention, and he said that should not be a problem to install. Great! Based on that, I decided to go ahead and buy this vehicle. They gave me one key, and told me I had to go to a DIFFERENT dealer to pick up the second key. So I did, and when I got there, they couldn't find the second key. I contacted my salesperson and said that they would have to order one and get it programmed. No biggy, but still a pain in the butt. I also had an issue with the radio, the voice recognition would not work. So Eric tells me he would get in touch with me Monday about scheduling the appointment to have the seats I wanted installed, as well as the radio repaied. I never hear from him. Eventually on Wednesday I had to make contact with Jared to find out when I am going to be taking my car in to get the seats installed. (mind you I had to pay extra for this). He get's back in touch with me and tells me the following week, which is fine. Fast forward to next week, I drop my car off in the morning to get worked on. I figured it would be an all day deal, which is fine. It ended up being the next day before it was done, again, not a big deal. So I go to the dealership to get my car, excited for the heated/ventilated seats. I get in, and lo and behold, not what I asked for. Only heated seats were installed. I went back inside to grab my Eric and he told me I only paid for heated seats. I told him we SPECIFICALLY discussed heated/ventilated seats. He told me that since I only paid for the heated portion, that is all I got. I asked how can that be since we talked at length about it. At first he denied it, but then he admitted that we talked about it and that is what I had asked for, and thought I was getting. It is a good thing I have this conversation recorded, as it will help me immensely in court. Also come to find out, the radio wasn't repaired either. I asked about that, and was told I would have to contact the Kia Service Center myself to schedule that. I left that day extremely ticked off. Fast forward to today. My payment is supposed to be due sometime right around this time, but I have yet to receive ANY loan paperwork from the loan company. I tried to contact them directly and received an email back but have yet to make actual contact by phone. When I was going over my sales paperwork, I had to correct it on numerous occassions because they kept entering an address that I hadn't lived at for about 8 years... I have a funny feeling that they put down this address and an old phone number when they submitted my loan application. I am going to be REALLY pissed if I am late on a payment due to their ignorance. I am a police officer, and if I screwed up in my job as bad as these idiots have, I wouldn't have a job anymore. All in all, my overall experience with Auffenberg was terrible. I was warned by numerous people prior to the sale to avoid them, and I didn't heed their advise. Now I wish I would have. This place is a joke, their sales people are a joke, and no one else there seems to give a rats butt about the customer after the sale. I'll take my car to Missouri for work before I'll go back to Auffenberg to have any work done. They have enough of my money already.

Horrible customer service

By Don't go to Auffenburg on 7/30/2017 at 4:51 AM. Helped by Aaron Hess.

Made a "VIP" appointment for 12:00 noon on Saturday Received a phone call 45 minutes before reassuring that I was going to be there. Said yes I'm on my way it's an hour drive for us. We arrive at 11:50 am and we are told the car was sold an hour ago by the Aaron Hess the salesman that I made my appointment with. I had informed Mr Hess that I was paying cash and it was a bit further than I wanted to drive. I was reassured the car I was looking at would be worth it. What a way to up hold the dirty snake salesman stereotype

Beware inspection team

By Joseph D Gordon on 3/30/2016 at 4:05 AM. Helped by The GM.

The email I sent to Mazda about Auffenberg I wanted to convey my very negative experience with purchasing and returning a Certified Pre-Owned 2013 Mazda CX-5 at Auffenberg in O'Fallon, Il. My wife and I purchased the vehicle yesterday, and we loved the vehicle. However, we got in it last night and, it didn't start. We figured it out that one of the key fobs was bad. Then, this morning I started the vehicle and the heat didn't work at all during the 45 minute drive. During this same time, the check engine light came on and the tpms light came on. I took the vehicle back to the dealer after work, and they showed the paperwork detailing inspection. I will say they did offer to fix everything. However, I don't have the time to keep dealing with it. Furthermore, and I told them when I took the vehicle back that I question the competency of their service department. In a 152 point inspection, these failures should have been caught and addressed. They charged me $447 to take the vehicle back, which I thought was ridiculous considering it was defective and not properly inspected. I spoke to the GM and he told me to pick something else or pay it and leave. I am a prison guard. So, it's not exactly easy for me to find time to car shop. I did extensive research to find this CX-5, and I am not about to pick something on a whim from a lot that is already suspect. However, I paid it because the main reason I bought the vehicle was the Mazda verified inspection, which to me seems like was shoddy at best, and i dont trust anything on their lot at this point. I write all of this to say, I love mazdas. My first two cars were mazdas, and I always had confidence in the Mazda name until today. I hope Mazda understands what their name brand means to some of us loyal to the brand, and how wreckless these dealers are putting Mazda's name on the inspection. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I cannot believe dealerships are this short-sighted in today's social media age. They lost much more than $447 from my future business and that of our families friends, co-workers, etc. I hope this is more of a reflection of Auffenberg and not of Mazda

Excellent customer service provided by Nate Croff

By kings daughter on 1/18/2016 at 4:29 PM. Helped by Nate Croff (Sales Representative), Jesse (Finance Manager) and Josh (General Manager).

Upon entering the dealership on December 31, 2015, Nate Croff immediately greeted me and my husband, and asked which vehicle we were interested in. Within minutes he showed us the car, explained the features, and took us on a test drive. Upon our return he explained some additional features of the car, offered us options, negotiated with us, and was not afraid to approach his manager with our offer several times. Nate also graciously contacted another salesman we previously met with at another Auffenberg dealership out of respect. This showed his character. Nate took care to clean and detail the car prior to delivery. He also ensured the car had a full tank of gas. In the past four years, we have purchased more than one car, but always from out-of-state dealerships. Because of Nate's top-notch customer service and desire to earn our business we purchased a car in Illinois for the first time. Customer service is very important, and we had visited several dealerships in the weeks prior to our purchase. Auffenberg dealership and Nate provided the product and service we were looking for. As a result we purchased the car. Nate works hard to satisfy the customer! Business relationships and loyalty are very important to us, so it was important to do business with a reputable dealership and sales representative. Both Auffenberg and Nate Croff met this high standard. We had a great experience from start to finish. Please encourage them to keep up the good work. Excellence never goes unnoticed.

Bad experience from start to finish

By a.a. on 8/15/2015 at 5:59 PM. Helped by Jason Schrijver.

Buying used is always a bit of a toss-up, but buying used from a supposedly reputable dealer should be a safer bet ... right? Not for us, it wasn't. They lost the key fob and would not replace it. Strike one. The metal part of the seatbelt was exposed because the protective plastic cap had been broken or lost. They were supposed to fix it before we picked it up. They didn't, and we had to return twice to get that done -- and even then, they put one on that didn't even come close to matching. Strike two. Strike three? The GPS went out within a few weeks of driving it and has to be completely replaced to the tune of $650 -- and that's for an aftermarket system that is self-installed. Well, just for the icing on the cake, they lost our oil change appointment (that they "threw" in since they lost the key fob, but it turns out that they give everyone the first oil change free -- so gee, thanks for that). I might as well have gone to those shady joints with salesmen in checkered suits and questionable personal hygiene. Maybe I'd have saved some money, too. Never never never will we be buying a vehicle from this place again. Horrible experience. Terrible customer service. Buyer beware.

Feedback on salesman Ryan Ward

By Repeat Customer on 7/25/2015 at 3:18 PM. Helped by Ryan Ward.

My daughter and I recently purchased a 2012 Honda Accord from the O'Fallon location and were very satisfied with the service we received. This is the third vehicle we purchased from Auffenberg and each time seems to get better. The salesman, Ryan Ward, was an effective communicator who accommodated whatever we wanted to do or explore without our feeling pushed in any direction. He came across as being very much a people person who tried to satisfy his customers' needs to the best of his ability. It was a pleasure dealing with him.

Jared Symonds was extremely helpful!

By Darrahmm on 3/31/2015 at 10:30 PM. Helped by Jared Symonds.

I went to the Auffenberg pre-owned lot looking for a pre-owned 2012 or newer Kia Soul and was met by Jared Symonds. He was extremely helpful in finding me the perfect car. There were no pre-owned Souls that I was interested in and I had my heart completely set on a Soul, so I decided to just go ahead and look at some of the brand new Kias, even though I didn't think I was going to be able to swing it. But Jared stuck with me and got me the best rate and a car payment I could more than afford. The paperwork went smoothly and I was in and out with my brand new Kia Soul! Overall, I was very happy with the service I received and would recommend these guys to anyone looking to buy a car, new or used.

Audie Anderson was very helpful!

By karahennessy on 3/4/2015 at 5:27 PM. Helped by Audie Anderson.

I could not believe how easy Audie made my car buying experience! I thought it would be a hassle to get all the details worked out but that was not the case. I saw my car on a Saturday, however someone else was trying to purchase the vehicle so I thought my chance was gone. The next Tuesday, after finding out the deal Saturday did not go through I called Audie to set a time to test drive. When I went in that night I had already been pre-approved for a loan through my bank but Audie negotiated and found me an even better deal! He stayed for almost 2 hours after their closing hours to make sure I was able to drive my new car off the lot that night. It was quick and easy to purchase my new car and I could not be happier!!

Auffenberg and Eric Michel are Fantastic!!!

By jhumes on 1/5/2015 at 9:25 PM. Helped by Eric Michel.

I love Auffenberg and Eric Michel! We had the best car buying experience of our entire life!!!! We are still in shock our new car is sitting in the garage. Eric Michel found the perfect car for us on Friday; we visited him on Saturday, and closed the deal. The entire car buying process from start to finish occurred in a few hours and included title, sticker, registration, and all those other headaches you have to endue once you buy a car! Eric was very knowledgeable, professional, calm, and friendly. This is the FIRST time we experienced a car salesman who truly respected us and listened to our concerns. Eric documented and addressed each and every issue we voiced, which showed he respected and truly cared about “us” more than making another quick deal. We started the car buying process a few months ago and then abruptly stopped due to the aggressiveness tactics, rudeness, and demeaning attitudes we experienced with other dealerships in the St. Louis area. We completely lost our car-buying mood and decided to wait until spring, but Eric Michel turned us around last weekend. Our goal last weekend was to stay home and rest after the holidays. The furthest thought from our minds last weekend was to look at a car, let alone purchase a car. We are still shocked we have our new car sitting in the garage. We are so happy with our purchase and we felt the need to write this letter to tell you how much we love and appreciate Auffenberg and Eric Michel. You guys are truly the BEST!!!! You won our hearts and our loyalty!!!!

Can't trust the dealership to be honest.

By ljryals on 9/29/2014 at 5:46 PM. Helped by Ashleigh and Tiffany.

Purchased a used car from Auffenberg North . When we took it to be inspected for Title and Registration it didn't pass. We found that there were a couple major repairs needing done. We contacted our sales person who had us bring it in to the service department. The service was HORRIBLE!!! I had just put $1500.00 down on a vehicle that I expected to run well enough that I wouldn't have to put hundreds of dollars into it in the first 30 days. The service department had my car for 4 days and in the end I had to argue with them over a part that was replaced but did NOT need replaced. I ended up paying for additional repairs because the front valve cover was burning oil which I was told was not a repair the dealership would have done before they sold the car. NOW I'm out $300.00 because the repair had to be done for our safety and because of that I don't have enough to Register my vehicle. Not to mention that the finance manager didn't bother to tell us we would have to pay sales tax of $775.00 out of our pocket because we purchased in Illinois and live in Missouri. So much for trusting the dealership to tell you everything.. Now we've got a car we can't drive until we come up with another $800.00. Not a good experience.
