wasted time

By viprholmes on 3/18/2017 at 6:40 PM. Helped by Rachael.

my parents made a long drive to this dealership to see a particular vehicle & coordinated the visit with the sales team. My parents called for directions from about a mile away and were sent the wrong direction - while they sold the vehicle to someone else. There was no call to let them know, and barely an apology for sending them an extra hour drive for no reason.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Appointment for recall inexplicably blown

By 4147202263230946 on 2/2/2017 at 2:51 AM. Helped by Don't remember.

I made an appointment and drove 35 minutes each way for a Chevrolet Impala recall that can affect airbag deployment. Chevrolet indicates the problem is solved with the application of anti-abrasion tape, inspection (not requiring removal of seat according to Chevrolet), and, if needed, replacement part. Ended up wasting an entire afternoon (and more that is not their fault) and they couldn't even tell me the results of the inspection of the vehicle.. The incident is blamed by the service manager on techs and "they"--the people that overbooked us. You, the general manager, are responsible for all three--so here is what happened. As I checked in shortly around 12:20, I asked how long the service would take. The service manager said 2 hours (the letter says service correction time is one hour, but OK). I called back to confirm after an hour to check if they would be able to complete by 2:15, because I really needed to leave by 2:30.. They said would check on it. No word back. When I come at 2:20 the service manager spots my car going into the service bay and goes find out what is happening with it. Comes back and service manager says it is not complete AND they are unable to complete it in the afternoon "because they overbooked us" and "the techs leave at 4:00." Offers to reschedule the appointment. After scrambling to pick up my children from school I called back to find out what happened and what had been done or learned in the two hours the car was there--was there wear on the part of related to the recall concern? Would it need to be replaced? Doesn't know. Service manager offers that he had chewed out the techs, things sometime take long--but no apology. I'm sorry, but if you are empowered manager in this situation, the techs don't leave a 4:00. A) they finish the work the customer made advance appointment for, and 2) you apologize when it takes longer than you estimated! You don't blame your employer for allowing walk in appointments and simply offer to reschedule--as if people can just take another two hours out of THEIR day for your screw up, no problem. No apology--nothing other than, "would you like a loaner car for your next appointment?" I scheduled an appointment with Oursman Chevrolet for the following week. They completed the job and it was done in about an hour, just as the recall notice said. I was in and out of there in an hour and a half.

Worst business ever.

By Pissed off in potomac on 8/17/2016 at 2:57 AM. Helped by Cindy, Older silver haired overwieght white male..

We went to a store in laurel a few hours after my mother calling into that store and for the lady that she talked to to hold a particular car, we get there and it had been sold not very long before hand, this lady then was seriously snotty and sarcastic, so I walk outside and pace a bit to cool off, when I come back in she is all pissy and trying to sell us something else and saying that she wasn't supposed to, willing to or did mother ask her to hold a car, and that when it gets busy etc...., so we leave and go to leave, I get pissed and we turn around, come back into that store, I walk up to talk to a manager, she comes over , over talks me , tells only her side of the "truth", I try to talk to the manager and tell him what we were after, he tries to sell me a 2010, I try to tell him that it was too new, he tells me to hold on that it will be ok, so I try to tell him that we were after X and that the lady from earlier in this post did x y and z and that I find/found her to be dippy, he gets uppity and pissy, tells me that I can't talk to a woman like that, I tell him that yes I can " equality " you know ?, he says no and that I need to get out that he is a manager and that I can leave, I ask to say my peace and he says no that we can get out (it was I until he saw my mom and fiancee walking up) , and I didn't even get a chance to explain to him how she talked to momma and lied.

Used truck

By Call waiting on 4/3/2016 at 6:19 PM. Helped by Ray and Ira.

I went to the laurel Chevy dealer after seeing a truck online everyone was eager to help at first the first salesman was Ray he seemed to want to help me until he dumped me off on Ira and he had every personal problem you could think of so needless to say he went M.I.A for a few days the I get a call to bring in all my information so we could get the ball rolling on financing kool , then he kept asking me for more and more d.p. wow so when we reached my max. He says I'm going submit your app and I'll call you in a couple of days to let you know which of the few trucks I picked out ok no problem well I never got that call but my credit report showed that the ran my credit so next I go else where and the first thing they say I see your credit was pulled by autonation I was like shocked because I never got a call back from them at all so I would strongly advise anyone to not go there at all poor customer service.

I visited Auto nation on November 11 for a normal oil change. After driving it home the next morning my car was idled up so fast . I have 2013 Malibu, so after taking it back to the dealer they dismissed my issue by saying everything looks good. To this day my new car sounds horrible, Know I am force to take to another to figure out what they did to my car.

By Tiredofthegames on 5/8/2015 at 8:40 PM. Helped by Rodney Smith.

We found the car we were looking for on line, called to confirm before we took leave and drove over an hour to get there. Salesman confirmed that the vehicle was there. Asked to please double check, gave him the vin number -explained trouble we were going through to get there, again PROMISED they for sure had the car. We arrived same salesman says, Oops, it's not here. He even straight faced lied and said "the car is gone, somebody came and bought it out from under me." Maybe this was just a lazy, piece of crap salesman, but I think it was a "bait and switch attempt." Don't trust these people. They will lie and inconvenience you just to get you in the door.

Terrible, terrible, terrible

By debbie083 on 4/1/2015 at 4:18 PM. Helped by Chris, Ray.

Generally, when I go to a chevy dealer, they are able to diag and fix issues with my vehicle. This company not only incorrectly diag-ed my car but their over-all customer service was horrible. The representative in the service department was rude and nonchalant, while I expressed my concern. It's almost like, he had issue with me not knowing what was wrong with my car and why couldn't I fix it. There are only a few chevy dealers in the area, the other is not open on the weekends. I drive an additional 15 miles to Silver Spring.

Deplorable service experience

By kiapayne on 7/23/2014 at 3:54 PM. Helped by Talejah Glenn, Phil DeLeonibus, Jordana.

I dropped my 2008 GMC Acadia off with this dealer on Jun 20, 2014. The Check Engine light and the Service StabiliTrak system lights were illuminated on my panel. I had brought my car in for the same issue on Apr 7. AutoNation had my car for 31 days. Yes, 31 days. Once they had it for 20 days, they said it should be ready on Monday, 5 days from then. They were replacing the cylinder heads. Then Monday, the day it was supposed to be ready, they found that they needed to replace the Power Steering Cooler line. So it would be ready the next day. The next day, they realized they needed to replace the fuel injectors. That took another week. I don't doubt this work was needed, but I seriously doubt that these repairs that were all done within 2 weeks necessitated my car being in their shop for 31 days. While my car was in the shop, I had a rental car. Finally, after 4 weeks of rental car fees, the dealer offered me a loaner car. However, the only loaner car they had was a Sierra pick-up truck, which is humongous. I informed Jordana, who is in charge of the loaner car program, that I was uncomfortable driving that big of a car. She laughed and said not to worry. If she could do it, I could, as well. So I drove off terribly uncomfortable with the monstrosity vehicle, that also happened to be a gas guzzler. They did pay for a whopping 5 days of my 27 day rental car bill to Enterprise. When I finally got my car back, the mechanics had left the battery exposed in the back seat. My 6 year old daughter tripped, getting her foot caught in the hole where the battery sits, and cut her lip. The car wasn't clean, after the service manager had left me a message that my car was ready and just in the car wash getting cleaned up for me. I had a full tank of gas when I dropped it off. When I got it back it had less than 1/4 of a tank. The service manager, Phil, was indignant and offered me $20 and said "I'm NOT filling your tank up." I did get him up to $30. However, clearly that was nowhere near where I left it. Phil then explained they had to drive my car quite a bit to determine the problem. However, the invoice shows they drove 32 miles. That's less than 2 gallons. Furthermore, I get almost 300 miles per tank. When I explained that, his story suddenly changed to the notion that my gasoline had a high alcohol level as if I'd been using E-85, implying they had to dump it. I don't even know where to buy E-85. I exclusively use Shell 87 and once a month, the 93. When I said that, Phil then informed me that I probably got a "bad" batch of gas from Shell. I don't really believe that, but I can't say for sure. I can objectively say that I have received "bad" service from this dealer, though. Additionally, although they removed my wheels to service the car, they neglected to balance them when putting them back on. So now when I drive more than 60 mph, my car shakes. They offered to fix it next week, on the house. As if they are doing me a favor by rectifying something they neglected to do in the first place. To make matters worse, after the horrendous treatment and lack of service, Jordana requested that I vacuum their loaner. Otherwise she was going to charge me for their time....vacuuming their car. No further comment on that. And.......after 31 days in the shop.....my Check Engine and Service StabiliTrak lights came back on within 24 hours of picking it up. To make it worse, there are two other issues on my invoice that I clearly communicated were issues. Those were never addressed and still remain as issues. I also communicated those on Apr 7. They didn't address them then either. I have never in my life received such deplorable service. Ever. Anywhere. **Update: After I submitted this, I thought I should probably call the General Manager directly and let him know of my problems. I did. He at least appeared to be very concerned and apologetic. I'm taking my car back tomorrow morning. Perhaps it will finally get fixed now. They are also giving me a loaner.

I would not recommend this dealer.

We have dealt with Earl Ray for over 10 years now and if ANYONE wants a salesman who truly cares and can get your goal accomplished, you absolutely need to speak to Earl. We just purchased our 6th vehicle from Autonation Laurel, Earl was our salesman in each and every one of these purchases. We could have went to any dealer we chose, we live in WV, so it's a drive to get there, but because of Earl's loyalty to us, we will stay loyal to him and Autonation Laurel. There are no words to describe how much it means to us to have someone that we can call, who knows who I am without asking, and by the time we make the drive down, Earl has everything waiting, a good selection of vehicles that we are interested in, and then makes the process go along as smoothly as we have ever had it. And we can't forget Michelle in finance. She is awesome! I only hope that Autonation realizes what they have in Earl Ray. He is one of a kind!!!! And our thanks to Riley in the purchase we made last night, very much appreciated!!

Mr. Bill Curry was an amazing car sales man. I had a great experience going in and didn't feel pressured into getting my Acadia. He made sure I understood how things worked in the truck and spent extra time going through what I didn't understand. He even set up my OnStar before I left the store. I even got a phone call and email to make sure everything was working well after my purchase. I will definitely recommend AutoNation (Laurel) to anyone looking for a great price and outstanding customer service.

By tmartelli on 2/11/2014 at 11:49 PM. Helped by Kyle Englert and the new vehicle sales manager John.

I entered the AutoNation dealership with a problem. I had purchased a 2500 HD gas engine a month earlier and it could not acceptably tow our new RV. I needed to trade in the gas engine and purchase a diesel 2500 HD. I returned to the dealership where I purchased the gas engine. They tried to assist me, but there trade in offer combined with the price of the diesel was totally unacceptable. I then called Kyle Englert, and he identified a diesel at another dealership, brought it to AutoNation, and prep'd it. I went to the dealership in the evening after work and Kyle and his boss John offered a trade in/purchase package that was better than I expected. We closed the deal during my first visit to the dealership. Even after I agreed to the deal, Kyle and his boss found a couple other incentives that made my initial mistake with the gas engine a little less painful. I drove away with the diesel that night. Kyle and John were very personable, extremely professional, and very proficient in assembling an acceptable package. They helped me overcome a very serious problem with a minimum of pain. Yesterday afternoon, I called Kyle about a possible purchase to eliminate another vehicle payment problem I have due to an impending layoff. He quickly responded with the information I needed to make a decision.

By QuickRick on 1/17/2013 at 3:38 PM. Helped by Shoemaker/Riley/Medley.

I'd never had any dealings with Fox in Laurel, Md. before and decided to give them a try. The initial meeting was arranged via intenet with a discount coupon offered as an incentive on top of any negotiated deal, by the sales manager. The intial contact with the salesman, Dwyne Shoemaker was pleasant enough. He knows his product and even offered to have 2 customers call me with testimonials on a Chevy Volt, the car we wanted. Later that week, I brought in my wife, we signed many papers and the Volt we wanted was to be obtained "off of their other lot" and prepped. I got a call stating that our reserved car had been sold to another, but another one was located. (it too was sold to another we were later told) I believe that buying a car should be fun, slowly all of the "fun" is draining out of this deal. We were offered another 3rd car that they'd bring in but it was totally the wrong car in the wrong color. Later that evening, Medley the sales manager called to say that they'd located a car exactly as we wanted but it could be shipped only if we'd agree to pay the frieght. I thought that this was outrageous in light of the fact that Fox screwed up twice. I'd figured they'd just rectify a bad situation but I was wrong with these folks. I told them to keep looking. I had to call the sales manager, Riley to find out what was going on a few days later as I had absolutely no contact. I was promised that they'd get right back to me and also refund the Mastercard rebate redemption they'd taken. This refund took my new dealer and many calls from me to reinstate. I am disappointed with Fox. Don't they care about their reputation and word of mouth?, guess not. QR

I am very pleased with the service of my Chevy Volt. I had to take it in to have the metal plates installed around the battery pack. They also did a software update and replaced the charging cord. They provided a free car rental. In addition, I had to have my tires rotated as it is at 15,000 miles. I also had them check one of my tires since it kept running low. It turned out to have a screw on the inside wall of the tire. It could not be repaired. It cost $210 to be replaced. Ouch. They completed the service within 2 days. They even cleaned my car inside and out, charged my batteries, and filled my tank! Wow! I am very pleased with my Volt and the service I received from Fox of Laurel. I have had no problems with it. My only cost in maintaining my Volt was the tire replacement. Thank you so much.

I have a typical "hard luck" story a lot of people have these days. When the transmission started to go out on my old truck, I started looking for a replacement. I was turned down by several dealerships without even any effort to help me! Chris Parkerson from Fox called me and I knew I was set. I've purchased from Fox before, and they've always treated me right and put me in a car. Chris is definitely the best yet, he put me in a brand new car with a deal I still can't believe! He saved me $750 just by randomly asking if I was a USAA member, most sales people don't care that much. On top of all that, I was in and out in under 2 hours with my new car. 2 HOURS! I'm a 50% disabled vet, and can't stand or sit around long without being in a lot of pain. Buying a car from Chris Parkerson at Fox was absolutely PAIN FREE!

Jerry & Medley make a great team! I am very happy doing business with Fox of Laurel. I knew what vehicle I wanted - a 45th Anniversary 2012 Camaro Convertible SS. I found Fox through an Internet search, e-mailed them what I wanted to buy and made an appointment. The first appointment took less than 30 minutes and I had a great offer to consider. I returned the next business day and made a deposit for a factory order. I had the actual order number for the car before I left the showroom! The next day I saw status “Order Placed” at www.chevrolet.com/ordertracking. This is just an amazing and pleasant experience buying a car with today’s technology – thanks to professionals like the staff at Fox! Let me also note that I'm driving an hour each way in DC traffic to the Fox dealership because it's worth driving past the many other dealers closer to me.

By kechef on 7/12/2011 at 12:40 AM. Helped by Earl Ray, Scott and medley.

I am very pleased with my exsperince at this Dealership and the three individuals that I worked with. They truley went all out to make me and my wife happy from the intial call to the final process. No pressure, none, they listened, they asked what I wanted, did everything that they could to make this posible. My wife hates shopping for cars, so I do the leg work and bring her in for the final approval. Once we agreeded on everything, Scott told me when I brought her in it would be zip, zip and done. It went just like he said. It took all of 10 minutes. The price was fair, Scott the Business manager went to battle with the banks to get us the best rate, Medley the Sales Manager found us a bed liner for our new truck, and everyone walked away happy. I am not the easiest person to deal with, but it all went really well and I was not stressed. I feel comfortable reccomending this this dealer. They have earned my business. My daughter recently bought a car from this dearlership, and she was very satified as well. I have been and will continue to be a proud member of the Fox/ Auto Nation family. Keith A. Evans, Sr
