Can't even do an Oil Change correctly

By maxp38 on 8/16/2019 at 4:27 PM. Helped by All employees.

STAY AWAY FROM AUTONATON O'Hare. I unfortunately purchased a new car from Autonation Honda O'Hare and purchased the oil change package. I just got a second oil change and both times when I got home and parked my car in the garage, I found a small puddle of dirty black oil. Seriously, how does that happen? I've had many cars in the past 30 years and have never seen that. In addition, appointment schedule means nothing to them. Every time I had to take the car in, I waited there for over 20 mins just for someone to acknowledge me. Customer Service is the last priority!!!

I would not recommend this dealer.

By Bolis53 on 7/16/2019 at 1:50 PM. Helped by Don't know the names.

I Had an appointment for service for my car 7/16/19 @ 4:20 pm. I went there in time. No one took care of me. I was standing there for 25 minutes. I am sorry to say they ignored me completely. I had to leave the dealership without fixing my car. It was a very bad experience for me.

The reviews were right...its bad.

By jfredbeck on 3/1/2019 at 2:33 PM. Helped by Edgar.

I came in to drive a used Accord with a great price and I was surprised how little welcome I got when I came in. But I had an appointment and eventually someone approached me after a few minutes and we drove the car. The "no haggle" dealer was immediately pushing me on what I wanted for my trade so they could make the deal today. "What number would make you leave with the car today?" Classic. I said I wanted to drive other cars before making a decision since this was my first car I drove, so I gave a ridiculous number. They came up on my trade significantly from the initial offer, but I wasn't ready to pull the trigger. I returned the next day, basically sold on the car but wanting to drive it again and feel good about the total net after trade. I probably would have bought it, but they wouldn't offer the net price they offered the day before! When I asked why, it was "today is a new day and my manager says that's not the price we can offer today. Unbelievable. I walked out. I have dealt with good friendly car dealers who care about their customers, this is definitely not one of them.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Customer Service is their lowest priority.

By disappointedhondaowner on 1/25/2019 at 1:24 AM. Helped by Customer Service Manager and the individual checking me in to the service dept..

The employees working within their customer service department have no regard to treating their customers with any type of service that would be considered "customer friendly" by any stretch of your imagination. They are more concerned with trying to sell you services that are unnecessary to ratch up your service bill. God forbid you ask them a question they act like they are doing you a favor. There are so many other options to get your car worked upon that going to AutoNation Honda O'Hare should be your last resort.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Very rude General Manager

By shan on 12/27/2018 at 6:23 PM. Helped by Jennifer, Michael.

Sales person, Jennifer, agreed to match the offer I have in had from another dealer. She was very polite, respectful, and courteous. With that promise walked in to the showroom and just like any other dealer, they started to haggle to increase the price, sell unnecessary packages, etc. I stood my ground. Sales manager was called. Same thing repeated. General Manager (gm) was called. Same thing repeated. But gm was very rude, insulting, raising the voice, but I stood my ground. At one point, it was too much, I said I'm leaving. He shook the hand and I left without turning my face back. If you can't match, say you can't match. End of discussion, but being rude, manipulative, insulting, raising the voice at a customer ????

I would not recommend this dealer.

Stay away!

By Kathy6 on 11/13/2018 at 9:23 PM. Helped by Brian in finance.

Worst place for customer service. Found the car on car gurus. The poor customer service was definitely not worth saving a small amount of money. Finance person was rude. Sales person was nice but clueless. Other employees treated her with disrespect. The wait was ridiculous once we agreed on price. I bought the car in July. Paid cash. It is November. Because of a mistake in finance I still have not received the title! And I can't get anyone to even call me back. Emailed and called many times without any luck. If you do talk to someone they will just say someone will call you back. It never happens. Stay away! Headaches are not worth any money you might save.

Not honering factory warranty by making none sense reason.

By Aaron on 8/28/2018 at 1:59 PM. Helped by Don't remember.

Purchased my first Honda aacord and still under warranty. Found out my rear camera is loose and took it to this dealership. they said it happened because trunk has been closed hard and bracket fell off! I told them that truck lid suppose to be made song enough even if closed hard that I never did, must servive this small issue. they gave me the Honda Claim number and almost few days after he had nothing new to say and offered me getting second opinion from other dealership! Strange that all of them are connected and they think I am stupid to not understand that I will get the same answer as they will back up eachother. I never had Japoniese car and it may be a good car but if their customer service dosent back up their product not worth to by that here. Will go back to American.

Great Experience!!! My Dealer of Choice!!

By Reviewjunky on 7/2/2018 at 3:56 PM. Helped by Michael Lawrence, David Saloman and Shahbaz Sheikh..

I purchased a car here a few weeks ago and it was such a great experience! My sales person Michael Lawrence was so amazing! Very knowledgeable, very patient, didn't push on the price of the car to me, so kind, just absolutely amazing to work with! The Sales Dept were honest and competitive with their pricing and offered me the best pricing on the car compared to all the other dealerships I went to! I appreciated their honesty and their approach. My financing was smooth and quick and I had no issues with any the paperwork. It was a very pleasant experience! I went to the Service drive and they were all very pleasant too! Said hi and made sure that I was being helped. The entire dealership is amazing with amazing people there! I'd highly recommend anyone to go there for sales and service!

Titleless Tucson

By Joe S. on 5/15/2018 at 5:19 PM. Helped by David Saloman, Shahbaz Sheikh, Dana Armitage and Brenda West.

Bought a used 2011 Hyundai Tucson from Autonation Honda O'Hare (AHO) on 3/6/2018. On 4/12/2018 I called the Illinois DMV to see when my title was. Turns out it was still sitting at the dealership, hadn't been sent to the DMV 5 weeks after I bought the car. Made several calls to AHO and left messages for Dana Armitage and Shahbaz Sheikh. Even opened a chat session with staff at Autonation Headquarters before the general sales manager, David Saloman, called me back. Turns out the original title was issued by Florida, and AHO hadn't sent it to Florida to get it properly transferred. David assured me he would expedite the matter and promised me via email on 4/16/2018 "I will stay on top of this as I said until we are at the finish line," Turns out he didn't. On 5/1/2018, I checked with the Illinois DMV again, and no title had been received. Checked in with David to find out what was going on and was told the title had been FedExed to the Illinois DMV, and he would call me back with the tracking number. An hour and a half later, David told me AHO got the title on 4/27/2018, but now "the natural disaster form was filled out incorrectly". This form certifies the car was not damaged in a hurricane. David vowed to send a representative from the Florida Autonation dealership near the owner (5 miles away) to get a new form filled out. Turns out they just FedExed the form and then waited for over a week for it get back. Fortunately for me, one of the kind people at the DMV (yes, there are many of them there) gave me a number to another DMV staffer whose job is to keep and eye on dealerships. Pete made several calls on my behalf, and told me AHO was being fined. Finally, on 5/9/2018, Pete told me the title had just been received at the Illinois DMV. A mere 2 months after I bought the car and 3 months after AHO got the car from the original owner. Don't trust this dealership to do anything they say. And good luck on ever getting them to return a call or give you a straight answer.

I would not recommend this dealer.

AutoNation - my Dealership of choice! Highly Recommend!

By Heather on 4/13/2018 at 3:22 PM. Helped by Brent Alexander, Harvey, Nick, Lindsay.

What an incredible experience!! I have been to many car Dealerships throughout my life. I have always come away with a bad experience and feeling upset. I dreaded going to car dealerships. AutoNation changed that! I have had only great interactions and feel welcome whenever I am there. The people are the nicest people to work with; everyone I encounter is super friendly - GENUINE!!! I was taking my 2015 Honda CRV there to be serviced, and recently ended buying a 2018 Honda CRV. The whole experience was pleasant. I am happy to call AutoNation my dealership of CHOICE! They are heads above the rest! Their company leadership is doing something right!!! Keep it up, AutoNation!!!

Rude People

By Chicago on 4/14/2018 at 1:16 AM. Helped by Dan/Dana (General Manager).

Worst dealership ever!!! They say they match the price with other competitors and make you go to the dealership. Once you get there they say it’s not happening, We can’t match the price!!! When you ask, why was I told you guys will match the price? And their reply was “our General Manager want people to come in but not match the price.” When we tried talking to the GM who’s name is Dena, he said “it’s very rude to ask us to lower the offer than what we offer” and when I asked him what is so rude in negotiating a price he said don’t waste our time and get out of “MY DEALERSHIP.”So, basically you just go there waste your time and if they get lucky they con you. Avoid this dealer if you want the best deal. Rude General Manager (Den/Dena) who doesn’t know how to treat his customers.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Buyers be aware... caveat emptor.

By conjugate86 on 12/12/2017 at 7:08 PM. Helped by Phil Hofer, Kim, Dana.

This review is meant to describe my car buying experience at the AutoNation Honda Dealership, in Des Plaines, IL. To whom it may concern, I purchased a Honda Civic from AutoNation Honda on Saturday, November, 25th. My initial communication with the dealership was online through their website. We settled on a great price via email and verbal communication through Kim, a sales associate at the dealership. The dealership was having its holiday special black Friday sale so we expected the delay in service but we were eventually attended to by our sales person Phil. First, I brought in a Ford F-150 truck for a potential trade, but selling or trading in the truck was not my main purpose at the dealership, just purchasing a reliable Honda Civic. The appraiser at the dealership spent over 90 minutes appraising the truck and crunching the numbers only to come back to me with an extremely low price at $4,5,00 under CarMax's appraisal and $2,500-$3,500 under Muller's Honda dealership in Highland Park, which only took them 10 minutes to get me a better price. The big point here was that if AutoNation had no intention of purchasing my truck I would have appreciated if they didn't waste my time on an already long purchasing experience. I arrived at the dealership around 1 pm and left with my New Honda Civic after closing hours around 7:30 PM. Next, two days later on Monday, November 27th my mechanic looked over my new vehicle only to find an engine oil leak. I reported the leak to my salesman at the dealership and he advised me to bring it in. The service associate Spencer said that it wasn't a big enough of a problem for them to fix or give me a rental car for them to look over. The dealership completely dismissed the problem with my new car. I bought a new vehicle in order to avoid dealing with these problems that shouldn't exist. I drove the car back to my mechanic so that he could look at the car again and it continued to leak oil. My mechanic advised me to return the car if the dealership didn't want to fix the problem. Friday, December 1st after many hours wasted trying to get the dealership to acknowledge and fix the problem, they communicated to me via phone stating that I had to come back to the dealership because they had lost my contract/documents for the car. I asked them to send me the documents via email of what they wanted me to sign but never received anything. I have all the documentation and proof of purchase that I received from the dealership. Next, I received several communications via voicemail and email stating how now they wanted to correct the leak/problem with my new car. To be honest, at this point, confidence and trust have diminished with this dealership. The whole point of this review is to document these events for me, warranty repair, and to others...buyers be aware... caveat emptor.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Didn’t follow up when it counted

By Carzcarzcarz on 12/1/2017 at 3:58 AM. Helped by Stan Soczynski, Bill Kinlaw.

I was initially impressed with Stan Soczynski‘s responsiveness over email. They were willing to offer me a fair price for my trade in and we had worked out that they’d order the exact car I wanted. I was a little cheesed when they said that I would have to physically drive to them (12 miles away) in order to put down the $500 deposit on the new car. Why can’t you just take a CC# over the phone? I want to give you my money! But, I was willing to do that because they beat other trade-in values by a good margin. At this meeting they were also going to inspect my trade, so, I said OK and cleared my afternoon schedule to go spend a few hours at a dealership. Stan the salesman said he wouldn’t be in the next day, but that his manager Bill Kinlaw would be. I show up on the day-of, and his manager wasn’t there. I was told by the receptionist that he didn’t come in until 1pm, and Stan Soczynski had told me to meet him there between 11-Noon. I tried calling both of them, and I wrote Stan an email, and no response. xxx. I’m in sales too, and I would be broke as a joke if I no-showed my clients! I can appreciate a communication mixup - it happens - but for no one to contact me to apologize or even attempt to make it right? When I told him I was coming, and when I committed several hours of my time to working with these guys? BS In the end it’s a good thing I was stood up. Because of that I hit the internet again and found that another dealer had the exact car I wanted - no waiting and no deposits. So, I took AutoNation’s trade in offer and the ePrice on the new car, and made the same deal happen with the other dealer who was much more professional. I hate to trash someone at their job/livelihood, but this dealership is deserving of the poor reviews. Bad experience.

Pleasant buying experience

By Nicosays on 10/14/2017 at 12:44 PM. Helped by Ayesha, and the young brunette lady in finance..

My wife and I went shopping last Saturday, a week ago from this review. Our saleswoman Ayesha was fantastic. No pressure, and allowing us freedom to decide on our own without unnecessary hassle. The young lady in finance (we regret not getting her name) handled our paperwork with a pleasant and timely manner. I was replacing a 23 year old vehicle and know how to properly maintain vehicles I own. The used car I bought at this dealership was properly maintained. We were able to test drive two vehicles in the rain. Finally, we found the car we liked and paid cash for it.

I would recommend this dealer.

Dishonest place

By Tdj on 8/27/2017 at 7:11 PM. Helped by John Ruberry.

Went to buy a car sat down got price. Went to finance. Said couldn't complete finance that night. Offered deposit salesman said no hand shake was fine. Talked to finance next morning. Says all was good worked out a rate. Was coming in at end of day for a car. Got call car was sold. Unbelievable. Salesman said he had another for more money? Really? Salesman had nerve to point out there was no deposit after he had told me there was no need for one. He had no answer for this. Called sales manager. He said wanted to make it right then never called me back. These guys answer all there bad reviews with a I'm sorry can we make it right but they don't make it right just a canned response to look better on the internet. There poor ratings are earned. Don't waste your time here many good dealerships. These guys are not good people.
