Service concerns

By dave on 7/14/2017 at 6:19 PM. Helped by ?.

Brought in vehicle in for problem with tire pressure sensor about week after lube and rotation. Told that tire bead had to be reset on wheel, while the tire was not losing air. Charged $31+ for that, btw tires also had been purchased at dealership. Few days later sensor went out on specific tire I had brought in. Notified when call center reached me about my service. As I was traveling said I would being by. Did and they took the car and brought back saying sensor was actually bad and would cost 130-150 to repair, but would have to make appt to bring back. Very friendly and did say that they would look at what already paid. Was heading out of town day after when pressure indicator showed abnormally high reading, but on different wheel, so must have moved. I stopped into a aftermarket tire service to have air checked, and air was fine, sensor was not. They replaced on the spot for $50. I did what anyone one with common sense would do, and had it taken care of on the spot. While staff at dealership was friendly, the excessive pricing, of this and a previous repair of a problematic wheel bearing were excessive. Let alone a mis diagnosis that cost me an additional $31+. While I have been a loyal dealership service customer for many years for all maintenance and repair, and the staff is friendly, I question the competence and the large gap in cost. I will now shop the aftermarket for repair costs going forward, as the value of going to the dealership is greatly diminished.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Untrustworthy

By Torres on 2/18/2017 at 11:02 PM. Helped by Ben, Jeff.

This dealership is not trustworthy and we would not recommend to anyone. They sold us a vehicle in December 2016 and it is end of Feb 2017. We have have numerous issues with the used vehicle 2010 GMC Acadia. With each new problem, we regret more and more that we ever bought from them. Just please take this review seriously. I have waited many months to write a review as to make sure I'm not writing the review out of anger. Do not buy from them.

Recall Flub then Phantom Exhaust Leak

By Eddy Mojado on 5/3/2016 at 4:21 PM. Helped by Joe.

I scheduled an appointment for my 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo SS to have replaced the valve cover gasket per a GM recall of its venerable 3800 engine. The part got ordered, but I got no notification of its arrival. The scheduling for the appointment got botched from the very outset. Ultimately, the repair itself was done promptly once I finally got my car scheduled; however, the "courtesy" check listed that I needed to replace my EGR pipe in order to fix an exhaust leak. I then scheduled an appointment with my trusted, independent mechanic whose crew looked at the EGR valve and pipe, and they found no exhaust leak whatsoever. I remain annoyed that Bergstrom would try to find a way to make money from a recall repair that generated no revenue by suggesting I fix something that was not broken at all. I also concur that the service department is incompetent at best or dishonest at worst, so I cannot recommend them.

Respect my vehicle

By PC on 4/28/2016 at 12:15 AM. Helped by Stan Dorobek.

Took in for a recall on the passenger airbag. My car has been taken care of inside and out from day one of my ownership as a New vehicle. My car has cameras to view out, but not inside. When they took out recall airbag and put in the safety airbag. He scratched up the dash of my car. Not a happy camper at all. He have NO RESPECT for others vehicles!!!!! On an earlier recall on Nov 29, 2011 when it was Ballwegs. No record made in their system. But...we have the paperwork.

Condescending Quick Lube Service Rep

By neighbor on 10/21/2015 at 7:38 PM. Helped by Dave.

Went to pick up vehicle following oil change + tire rotation and got complete attitude from the desk person Dave. For no reason whatsoever, this guy tried to make a game out of me asking for my car and treated me with zero respect. A professional demeanor is way more than uttering "how can we help you today" with snide overtones.

Wasted our time/gas

By squidbunny on 8/17/2015 at 7:13 PM. Helped by Courtney, Ken.

Found a CPO Chevy Volt at this dealership via Cars.com we were really interested in. Emailed and spoke on the phone, set up an appointment to go test drive it; the dealer is about 36 miles from our home. When my husband arrived he was told the individual he was supposed to meet was in a meeting and the vehicle had sold. Wasted time and gas, and they didn't have the courtesy to call and cancel.

Great experience with quick lube department

By Grandma on 3/14/2015 at 2:40 PM. Helped by Quick lube tech.

upon arrival at Bergstrom's we were immediately greeted by a friendly service tech. He quickly verified our information and personally walked us to the 'service waiting area' and explained that there was a beverage area, and free wifi. The oil change was done quickly as well as safety inspection. All fluid levels were toppd off. An unexpected peek was the daily newspaper and bottle of cold water waiting for us as we got back into the vehicle and it was appreciated. In this era it is refreshing to be treated as if our business was important and not like we were interrupting a social hour. We are telling our family and friends that this the place to go. Thanks for a job well done

Horrible Service Department

By billyH on 2/2/2015 at 5:16 PM. Helped by Unknown.

Went in for a oil change and tire rotation. They failed to rotate my tires, but were still able to add it to the bill. Their final work summary showed the tires were inflated to 30psi (in reality they were still inflated to the 35psi I came in with). At best they're incompetent, at worst dishonest. Either way I wont be going back.

I would not recommend this dealer.

My third purchase!

By benny on 12/30/2014 at 7:46 PM. Helped by Tom L. and Julie B..

I was told of Bergstrom (when it was Ballweg) in January of 2012. I brought in my old Malibu and drove off with a much newer Impala. Then it was a 2014 Cruze thanks to salesman Tom L. and just yesterday I drove home in a 2015 Malibu! Julie B knows how to get you into the right car for your budget, and she's brilliant. Tom L. knows the car that I ask about and really knows his job. He doesn't just send you off, he sits with you and makes sure you understand how the instruments function. Bergstrom sells cars. And they do their job very well!! BK, Richland Center.

I bought my second vehicle from Ballweg in February. I am very happy about my experience. They did a great job helping me with the financing part. My Chevy Equinox looked great and they spent a lot of time making sure I knew everything about my vehicle before I left.

I had an appointment for what was planned to be my third...

By Aquamike on 7/29/2013 at 11:06 PM. Helped by Unknown.

I had an appointment for what was planned to be my third attempt to have my truck serviced at Balweg but after my discussion with the service adviser it became obvious that I need to find a different company for vehicle service. My first interaction with Balweg was while my truck was under warranty and it didn't start one morning. It was in for a total of four times before they found the correct solution. Each of the three initial times it had to be towed in, they told me they fixed it and it was all set. The next morning was the same thing, wouldn't start. My second experience with Balweg was an oil change. They told me that it needed a front end alignment and two tires. I had them do both and after leaving I found four loose lug nuts. They said if I brought it back in they would correct but I seemed smarter to tighten the lug nuts before driving any further so I did it myself. Today was the third time I tried to use Balweg. I called last week to make an appointment and scheduled it for this afternoon. I asked them to change the oil, check the brakes, check the front end alignment, and look the truck over for anything it needs. The service writer told me they don't check alignments, they just do it. This seemed strange since they charge $70 for an alignment. What if it's not needed? They had the same response when I asked about checking the brakes in that they told me it would cost $20 to check the brakes. I was a surprised a Chevrolet dealer would charge for an inspection. Lastly I was asked what else they would like me to check so they could tell me how much those inspections would cost. Are all service stations charging to inspect vehicles and tell you what needs to be done?

I would not recommend this dealer.

By lratze on 7/12/2013 at 4:40 PM. Helped by Joe Morgan.

I have been on a search some time for a Chevy Trail Blazer with the third row seat option. While searching the internet recently I found one on Ballweg's website. Not only did it have the third row seat option it was in immaculate condition and only had 35,000 miles for a 2004. We hurried in to check it out. It hadn't been through safety yet, but our sales person (Joe Morgan) took us for a test drive of the vehicle. We loved it and put in an offer on the vehicle. Joe made the process painless as did Ken (used car manager). We traded in our mini-van as well and we received a fair value on our trade and negotiated a fair price on the trail blazer. I highly recommend Ballweg for your new or used car purchase. Very impressed with their staff and their dealership. I look forward to an ongoing business relationship with them!

By jeffreyhorstman3 on 3/21/2013 at 2:07 PM. Helped by Repairs dept..

On my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LT, I had approximately about 41997 miles on my ODO.I was from out of town all the way from St.Louis visiting the greater Madison area. Well while going at highway speeds the car was doing good. When i reached the bottom of the off ramp at Gammon Rd @ US 12/18 i came to a stop. when the light changed and i hit the gas the car would not speed up it was just crawling, the (Reduced Engine Power!) light came on as well as the (Check Engine) light too. I went to the dealer and they loaned me a loaner vehicle, they called later that night to tell me it was the (Throttle Positioning Sensor) that failed the repair would have cost around $475. However i was under warranty still so i paid nothing for the towing, rental, repair. The reason why i recommend this dealer is they were helpful, polite, eager to help and fix the problem. I did receive wonderful fast and responsive service. For some one from out of town i highly recommend them! In fact they are better than my dealer back home.

I would recommend this dealer.

My experience leasing a 2013 Volt was my best car...

By zapatos on 10/19/2012 at 10:13 PM. Helped by Tom Lenling; Kiley Davidson.

My experience leasing a 2013 Volt was my best car negotiation ever because of the attention given by Sales and Leasing Consultant Tom Lenling; by Finance Manager Rich Kamm; and by Customs Relations Manager Kiley Davidson. Tom Lenling, cyclist, coach, father, and superlative Leasing Consultant, listened carefully to my specifications and then aggressively fulfilled every detailed specification. Rich Kamm expedited the lease process with the aim of meeting my needs first, and eliminated unnecessary solicitations for add-ons to the contract. Kyley Davidson meticulously instructed me on all the details of the Volts technology, in an unhurried and uninterrupted manner, providing me with comprehensive information needed for driving, utilization, and maintenence of my Volt. As with Tom and Rich, Kiley advised me on what was best for me as she worked with me to set up OnStar, XM, phone service, bluetooth, and phone apps useful for my Volt. Tom, Rich, and Kiley, all made my needs as client the most important part of the contract which we negotiated. They all continue to be available to me for the follow-up that I may need. I give them the highest marks for their attention to detail in meeting my needs. Great work, friends. I highly recommend you to others who want their transportation needs fulfilled in the most efficient and pleasant manner. Well done, Ballweg Chevolet. I compliment Owner Darlene Ballweg, introduced to me, for the unsurpassed caliber and professionalism of her staff at Ballweg Chevrolet, Middleton. Thank you, Your friend and client, Paul

I went to several dealerships looking for a Chevrolet Malibu specifically. Ballweg Chevrolet had one that was perfect for me, exactly what I wanted so I moved quickly. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. They worked hard to get me a loan wtihout a cosigner and helped me set up my OnStar and AutoArmor appointments. I strongly recommend Ballweg Chevrolet to anyone looking to buy a vehicle, new OR used!

By aerobills on 3/6/2012 at 8:13 PM. Helped by Internet Department & Eric.

I was referred to this dealer by the Costco Members Auto Program with the incentive of getting "special pricing." I made an appointment to meet with a salesperson on a Tuesday morning. When I got to the dealership for my appointment I was told that salesman was busy and I had to wait. After wandering the dealership for 15 minutes I finally found a seat, meanwhile there were several other salesmen just standing around. After 20 minutes I was finally able to meet with the salesman. The so called Costco Members low price deal was only $250 less than what their competition offered me up front without any negotiating. After another 30 to 40 minutes of waiting for my trade in to be evaluated and the salesman having to pickup various printouts I was on my way. The dealership tried calling me multiple times the following week but never bothered to leave a message or really even try to earn my business. I decided to go to the competition and got a great price on my new car, plus $1500 more for my trade-in than Ballweg offered me. The original salesman finally decided to email me 2 weeks later asking if I had any questions. When I told him I went to the competition and received a much better price then he decided to call and leave a voicemail to "make a deal." Really lousy experience all the way around as I was made to feel that my time was less valuable than theirs and really didn't care to earn my business. Go to Stark Chevrolet.

By duffy32 on 2/3/2012 at 7:45 PM. Helped by John Lombard.

I've now purchased 4 cars from 4 different dealerships over the years and my experience at Ballweg Chevrolet was by far the best. The staff members were friendly and didn't try to aggressively push the sale like I've experienced at other dealerships in the past. More importantly, they didn't employ any gimmicks or try to play any games. They kept their word with respect to financing, pricing, and trade-in value. The entire process was easy and rather quick! Based on my experience I would definitely recommend this dealership to anyone looking to purchase a new or used vehicle.
