Horrible sales tactics

I just want to start by saying that my salesman Jason was a great guy. This review is not a reflection on him, but more my experience with the dealership overall. I own 5 vehicles and buy/sell/trade one of them every 6-12 months. Ive purchased vehicles all the way from Jeeps to Porsches. In all my transactions, I’ve never had an experience as disappointing and just plain deceitful as I did with Bertera Chevrolet. Bertera had a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I was interested in as an additional vehicle for an au Pair that I have living with us. I saw the car on both cars.com and CarGurus listed for $19,800, it had been sitting on the lot for 6 months or so. I called the dealer to make sure they still had it available so that I could avoid making the 2 hour drive down if it was already under agreement. Salesman Mike told me “great news, it’s available”. I told them I would head down but didn’t have much time, so please have the car ready at 12:30. I prefer not to waste my time or theirs. I get to the dealership and mike is busy, so I waited about half an hr, so I opt to work with another salesman, Jason. Great guy, we started with some initial documentation. He took my info, asked what vehicle I was interested in asked how would I purchase if we reached an agreement (cash, finance, down payment etc). I told them I was ready to make a deal happen that day and I was willing to pay cash or finance if it made the deal go smoother. He finds the vehicle, pulls it around front and we take it for a test drive. After the test drive I let him know that I liked the vehicle but it needed a few things, tires would have to be replaced soon and the brakes I could tell the rotors needed to be replaced. Jason went to talk to his manager and comes out with an initial offer off almost $22,000!! Yes, more than $2,000 over the initial asking price of the vehicle. I asked how we could be starting that high. He let me know that there’s a $2,150 additional charge over the price listed online because the price listed online is the wholesale price. I said that I didn’t see that anywhere in either listing. He informed me that if I clicked through to their website directly, I would have seen it. So at this point, even though I’m a cash buyer they still wouldn’t honor the wholesale price but wanted to “work with me”. Never in all my vehicles have I dealt with a joke sales tactic like this. After a short back and forth I could tell this wasn’t going to work and left the dealership to drive another 2 hrs home. Wasted 5-6 hrs of my day with these guys. The irony of the whole thing is they have this joker Brian Yarrows picture on every listing picture with the quote “buying a car doesn’t have to be so complicated”.. yet they play these games which gives them an average of 3 stars for a dealer rating. Wish I read their other reviews earlier, I wouldn’t have wasted my time.

Felt cheated

I came in for a price that was advertised online. I was then told the price could not be honored and it would be $1000 more. The salesperson was courteous, but the bait and switch advertising was not appreciated.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Used Car Purchase

I just purchased a car from Bertera and was very happy with the vehicle. Wasn't the one I had seen online but Joe worked with me until I found something I really liked. It had all the features I was looking for. I did have a lot of waiting and wished that had been a little shorter. Joe F was very pleasant to work with.

Refused to give me a quote

I found a truck on their website but the price didn't specify the rebates/insensitive that were included in the price.Michael Howe refused to give me a quote. I also asked for an updated mileage since the truck has been on the lot for over 280 days. I'm from another State and the dealership is 2 hours away so I just wanted to know if I qualify for those "discounts". Be transparent in the pricing and I will have no problem making the trip. I could not get any answers even when I tried another salesman ( Samantha Cardin).

Issue with their Finance group

My husband tried several times to go to the dealer to get a pay off on our lease and each time he was asked about a new lease and he listened but in the end we decided to buy out our truck. He called to the finance person Jody and left message to call him back to get information on rates. After 4 days my husband called back and then started receiving text messages about a loan. We called that evening and spoke to Jody who was extremely rude and began the conversation with, did your husband even tell you he was coming in to look at a new car or financing -was he truthful with you? And it continued to go down hill from there with continual snarky comments and telling me - that I wasn't going to just "bounce in there tonight and step in front of other customers and take over their time with salespeople" Unfortunately this experience has totally us choose not to continue business with this dealer and we chose another one. I hope that in the future when she speaks to customers it is different than this.

First time buyer!

This was my first new car(truck) purchase and Zach made sure I understood everything and was happy with my choice. I was working the week I bought the truck and couldn't get in until late. Zach and other employees stayed until far after closing to take their time to explain everything I needed to know. Thank you

Amazing Experience!

Just recently purchased a 2019 Silverado Trail Boss from Bertera as a recommendation from a family member. Worked with Matt (as did my family member) and he exceeded EVERY expectation that was set. Matt was very timely, made sure my fiancee and I were comfortable and knew everything we had questions to. 100% exceeded expectations and will recommend ALL family to do business here with Matt!

worst dealer ever

I bought a 2017 Cruze with 17,000 miles from Bertera in January. It is now May and I dropped it off for the paint peeling that they said is not covered under warranty. They gave ma a loaner car with an expired inspection sticker and a bad wheel bearing. When I got stopped by the police, I looked in the glove box for the registration and found numerous invoices from previous customers with names, addresses, phone numbers and social security numbers. I brought the car back and asked to speak to the general manager Brian Yarrows "you know, the chevy guy" and he was too busy to talk to me. He was talking to a salesman at the time. I've bought 2 cars from Bertera in the past 2 years and will never step foot in that place again and I will continue to tell everybody I can about my experience

If Your Looking For A FAIR Trade

If Your Looking For A FAIR Trade on your old car dont go here. Traveled from Dudley Ma to look at a Volvo XC 60 they have. My trade in in every other book including online was $4800.00. They told me that they would give me $2100.00 What a waste of time going here. Please don't get me wrong, salesman was great. But the BOZO in the back office shooting out numbers need to screw his head on straight.

Misleading ads and high pressure sales

I was drawn to the dealership because they had advertised very good prices on their website. When it came down to the actual deal the salesman added in a "Retail Adjustment". The story was that all their advertised pricing is wholesale. A retail adjustment must be added in for retail purchases. This adjustment was over $2,000 on a $22,000 used vehicle. I found this to be deceptive advertising. I could not come to terms on the sale because the salesman continued to avoid providing a bottom line price. I was offered an opportunity to take the car overnight to show it to my wife as she was unable to be with me at the dealership. I agreed to leave a $200 deposit to be refunded when the vehicle was returned. Upon returning the vehicle I was told there was nobody available to process refunds and I would have to come back later. This was after a high pressure attempt to sell the vehicle which I had decided not to purchase. During both visits I was made to wait much longer than I believe was necessary for every little thing. When I returned the vehicle I was left to wait while the entire sales staff held a department meeting leaving me to sit and wait for it's conclusion. I found the customer service to be unacceptable. If you are looking for a stress free buying experience avoid this dealership

Bought 2019 Tahoe . Bertera dealer ship was so nice and kind. Everyone was very helpful . Also they called me after I bought my vehicle to see how things were going if I liked it if there was any issues . That means a lot to me.
