Scam!!!

By C_tabby on 3/19/2018 at 7:02 PM. Helped by Service center.

I purchased my vehicle here and thought the best place to bring my Chevy for repairs would be the Chevy dealer I purchased it from right? WRONG!!! I brought my vehicle in for some over heating issues. They said my head gasket blew and it would cost $3000 for repairs!!! And said that he would have to send my block out for testing and it might cost more!!! I went to pick my vehicle up to get a second opinion and was told I had to pay $110 for the diagnostics. I took my vehicle to JD auto repair in Staunton. The gentleman there tested my block and tried hard to find an issue with the head gasket and was unable to! Charged me $90 for a couple of hoses that had pin holes in them. This place is a scam!! I will never take my car there nor will I purchase another vehicle from them again!!

I would not recommend this dealer.

Not just for GM products

By K. Clutter on 4/5/2017 at 5:09 PM. Helped by Service department.

My older import in because of loud front end noise and various warning lights on. The service department made the repairs quickly and also serviced it for a reasonable price. Totally satisfied with the work.

I would recommend this dealer.

Absolute scam

By 9th shodan on 4/1/2017 at 9:53 AM. Helped by Service.

I brought my truck in for a cv boot replacement and they called mid day to say my inspection was almost up so I said do it. When I got there at the end of the day I found they didn't change the boot and they failed my truck and removed my sticker. They said my lower ball joints were bad and rear brakes. My brakes were a year old so I questioned that but the said the brake pads were $275 each side and the ball joints were $100 each. They said it takes 4.7 hours to do the ball joints that the labor alone would be $460 just for the joints alone so I took my truck and left. I bought everything for $210 and did the work myself. My ball joints were a tally fine but being I had 160k I did them anyways. It took my 20 min to do the driver side and 45 on the passenger because I changed the cv boot. My rear brakes were fine still had half life on them so I brought it somewhere else and it passed inspection with flying colors. They are a scam and I will never go back there again.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Had recalls and oil change done. Truck was returned with mud all over my step bar pad, door sill plate and custom carpet floor mat. They don't care what condition they return your vehicle.

Leave as soon as it doesn't feel right

By LJ1978 on 2/12/2016 at 9:07 PM. Helped by Pat Berrang and Chris Crites.

I went to Charlie Obaugh Chevrolet because I was in the market for a used Denali. I have dealt with the "real" Charlie Obaugh dealership for over 30 years with no complaints. I test drove the Denali and something didn't feel exactly right. It had terrible tires so it was hard to tell. The salesman, Pat Berrang said that he would get me the shop report, but after some conversations with someone in the shop and the Used Car Manager he said that it had never been through the shop. The truck was in very good condition otherwise and I had already agreed on a price. They said that they would get it inspected and cleaned up before I picked it up. Came back in the afternoon and it was inspected, but not cleaned. I took the vehicle home and after getting off of the interstate the transmission was slipping going into 3rd. I sent a note to Charlie and at first he was going to help, but then said that I would have to deal with Eric. I took the Denali to a reputable transmission shop and they said that it was a junk yard transmission that had been recently installed. I sent another note to Charlie with no response. There was a day when you could go to the Charlie Obaugh dealership and look Charlie in the eye and shake his hand comfortable that you could trust the man you were dealing with. This is no longer the way business is done. Like any other used car dealer you should take the vehicle to a shop that you trust for a thorough inspection before you agree to purchase. My days with this dealership are done.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Promised deal, couldn't deliver

By Mystery123 on 1/5/2016 at 11:13 PM. Helped by N/A.

Manager promised to get the deal done, ran credit appraised trade in and said the deal was within the budget. Test drove the car and not less than 24 hours later, manager goes back on deal with no explanation, continued run around and driving to the dealership 3 times in one day to get deal worked out and they refused to give the deal promised with terms written on paper. Not good business practice and not there for the customer.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Started off Ok but ...

By Awev on 11/21/2015 at 7:54 PM. Helped by Pat "Uncle Pat" Berrang.

I was referred to this dealership, and a second location, through the Costco Used Car program. One of the contacts that Costco has in their system for this dealership contacted me within minutes of the automated email being sent to them. The person handed me over to another person, who contacted me the following morning. It seemed as if things where going well, and I made arrangements to visit the following day, to look at - and maybe test-drive - a couple cars. The car that originally had drawn my attention needed some work, and the price was going to go up accordingly, and so was quickly eliminated. Then I looked at a couple other vehicles, and ended up settling on the Chevy Impalas, Their where two 2007 models, one 2008, and one 2011 model. The 2007 models where priced around eight thousand ($8,000) dollars each, while the 2008 and 2011 models where at a couple dollars under nine thousand ($9,000) dollars each. The 2011 model was quickly eliminated due to high miles in a short period of time, while the other three had about 71 to 72 thousand miles each. I ended up test-driving one of the cars, yet my salesperson was not available at the time. The following day my salesperson called me to get my feedback first hand, and see how things are going. I was honest, and mentioned that I was also talking to another person at a different dealership. He called back later that day with a finial price of $9,000 for the 2008 model, and that was to include a three (3) month warranty, along with all taxes, processing fees, title, and tags (which I was transferring for a current SUV). I agreed to come in the next morning and give the car another, and fuller, test drive, and see how things work out. The next day I arrived to find I would be test driving a 2007 model, not the 2008, and the salesperson insisted that we where talking about the 2007 model. I noticed that they had taken down the oversized price tag that hangs from the rear view mirror, and that it was $700 higher than the internet price. After the test drive the salesperson informs me that the finial cost is $9600, and that includes a 30 day or 3000 mile 50/50 warranty , where the dealer will pay 50% of the repair cost, and the owner pays the other half. So the finial cost went up $600 from the night before, and the warranty got changed in a substantial manner, along with an older car. Also, if we eliminated the warranty altogether then he though his manager would lower the finial cost by $200, to $9,400. This appeared as not only a bait and switch to me, yet I had to pay more for less, and to have the privilege of being the victim.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Dealer refusal to service car

By disgusted on 3/30/2015 at 1:13 PM. Helped by Eric Obaugh, Patrick Oster , Brad Bahle.

Ordered a 2014 Camaro paid cash, on first interstate outing low pressure light came on, I called the dealership and spoke with Brad Bahle who told me to continue 30 more miles to dealership that those indicator lights were sensitive, two minutes later tire blew and I struggled to get control of vehicle. It was a battle to get all tires replaced. I asked to see order form to make sure tires were new and was told no by Patrick Oster the service manager. No explanation of what happened to tire had to be towed in. Now vehicle has had to be jumped or charged several times and now not responding to that, Asked for money back from dealer Eric Obaugh and he refused, now he is refusing to service vehicle at all which is still under warranty and has an extended warranty and only 3300 miles on odometer. I have written 4 letters to General Motors CEO Mary Barra and all they have done is apologize for any inconvenience I may have suffered. I have asked for a trade to another vehicle, that has been refused. Dealer states that because I wrote the company and "trashed" him, he will not service the car, essentially punishing me for exercising my right to free speech.

I would not recommend this dealer.
