never take your car to the service department it stinks

By sailoffwithme on 6/29/2019 at 5:36 PM. Helped by the suspension department.

I have this Buick 2014 lacrosse that was under warranty and the right front control arm snapped sitting still. If I had been moving it would have destroyed the car and could have killed somebody. They gave me a ridiculous price on the repair and wanted to replace parts that were not damage. The cv axle needed a new boot and to be reinstalled. The service person connected me to the mechanic who said they were to inept to replace the boot and I had to get a whole next axle 250$ vs a 10$ boot replacement stating it was unsafe. Well having the lower control arm snap was pretty dam unsafe don't ya think? The car was still under warranty but of course they did not honer the warranty. The car also needed an alignment after the service this was expected. Well I drove the car home and there was a knock in the front end, thinking the dealership knew how to work on cars and the warranty was not worth the paper it was written on I replaced the lower control arm on the other side in about one hour, while replacing the struts and brakes. Being a mechanic for over 48 years it was easy straight forward job. When replacing the brakes on the side they fixed I grabbed the tire to sit down and found the clunk. They never torqued the bolts on the lower control arm making the aliment worthless. That was not very safe at all, the armature child mechanic must have done this on purpose because I called him out on the phone over a 10$ boot and he hung up on me not very professional was it. These people will rob you and put your life in danger I would not recommend these people to fix a tricycle much less a car. Now I been trying to get a transmission replace on the 2014 Buick lacrosse every time I called they said ok I will transfer you to the manager of the service department they sent me to the sales department to buy a new car? I called several times and they did the same every single time, thing unreal I was so pissed off I was about to explode. Come to find out after talking to a real service shop that they did not have a transmission and could not get a transmission because it was on a national back order. Now the sales people keep calling my phone trying to sell me a car and they obviously gave my phone number to other scammers trying to sell me crap. This is a work phone I cannot accept calls to this number. I found a transmission in a few minutes with a five year unlimited mileage and will install it shortly. There is a huge risk to your well being and safety having anything done to your car at this dealership and the product has gone bad over the years. I have an 88 suburban and have never had these issues with this tank. GMC is on my do not buy do not accept calls list these people are not trustworthy and will rip you off in a heartbeat buyer beware.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Bought 5 cars from you but never again

By Fonseca on 3/12/2019 at 9:52 PM.

I have bought 5 cars over the past 3 years from Deacon Jones but never again. 2 new and 3 used. Over a $60 O2 sensor you have lost my business going forward. We purchased a used car in February 2019. In two days the check engine light and air bag lights came on. To your credit you did the diagnostic free and replaced the catalytic converter. Less than a week later check engine and airbag lights back on. I asked for proof of the fix and the code from the diagnostic and told to come get it. After a 30 minute drive and an hour wait the person I spoke to was no where to be found and neither was paperwork. I called back on Monday and was treated very rudely by the lady in the service department and told that they could not give me this paperwork because it was against company policy and that you were not going to look at it without a $150 diagnostic fee. I went to the part store and it’s the oxygen sensor which is a $60 fix. I know it’s a used car but having it less than 30 days and your staff being so rude guaranteed you lost me as a future customer.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Buyer beware

By Bill J on 11/27/2018 at 2:53 PM. Helped by Dustin Mills.

We purchased a vehicle at this dealership, and found out that it had some body work done on it at sometime. It was a CPO (certified preowned) that was certified by them. When we were pointed out the paint issues by a professional detailer and where there was very little paint in a area, we went to the Dealer to ask about it, now mind you the Auto check they use had reported no issues or problems with the car. When we brought this problem to the attention of the used car manager (3 weeks later) we were told "too bad but its your car now". I found this very disturbing that there is no service ag=fter the sale. I mean they did the pre owned certification on the car and won't back up there product. We obviously will never buy there again and will tell everyone we know to stay away from there. The car is still a nice car, just a $31 K car that needs a paint job.

Oil change tire rotation

By notsmokin54 on 5/9/2018 at 4:28 PM. Helped by Leanna.

Leanna, The service representative, was very nice and helpful, Ive gone thru her numerous times on the service of my 2006 Pontiac Solstice. She has excellent customer service skill. My car was serviced in a timely fashion. I take great pride in the cleanliness of my car. After I got home, I noticed oily finger prints on my driver side door, hood, and all four wheels. I did not expect this from The Deacon. I have done a lot of business with the Deacon dealership since 1994. I am a retired aircraft mechanic and fully understand the mess created during oil changes and tire maintenance. Wear clean gloves each time you service a vehicle and clean up afterwards. Please,

Waited a week to see used vechicle.

By clamerman on 1/30/2018 at 2:54 AM. Helped by Toni Harris.

Interested in a used truck Deacon Jones had, was told that it was being recondition, and not available to see. Called a number of times to make appointment to see truck, but was told not ready yet. Finally told me that it was being saved for a friend of the owners. Do not believe ANYTHING they tell you. I dealt with Toni Harris.

Will tell you anything for you to sign paperwork

By Brown Family on 10/18/2017 at 6:29 PM. Helped by Tyler Carges.

The manager and salesmen at this dealership are liars! I purchased a certified preowned 2017 Silverado from this company in June. While signing paperwork we were told someone was trying to locate the key fob for my vehicle. I let the salesperson and manager know that not having a key fob was a deal breaker for me and that I would not purchase the vehicle without one. After being told they would find it and after I had already signed a "nothing owed" I was told it couldn't be located but that one would be ordered and installed for me. I have been lied to and ignored for months by the general manager and salespeople first being told they were still trying to get me a key fob.

Didn't work out waste of time

By Fkait3 on 7/31/2017 at 11:48 AM. Helped by Bruce/Micheal.

was not pleased last week as my loan was approved then changed all because of my employers mistake on my paystub with address, the salesman I had was great but the two managers acted "too busy" to figure anything else out after all the hassle of me getting everything together to buy from deacon jones. I'm sure something could have been fixed when calling the bank and financing company back im sure they have made mistakes as well, communication could have been a lot better I left being all confused Maybe this isn't really nothing to complain about but the sales managers do not communicate with you. I did have a good sales guy helping me look for the best car on the lot. And still didn't go home with a new ride, oh well I'm going to a new car lot this week.

By Jasin M Johnson on 7/28/2017 at 1:09 PM. Helped by service department.

Having warranty work done on a 2016 Chevy silverado rear end or something going bad should not happen. Hope goes better this time because last time they were suppose to replace two tires on my truck and did not had to make extra trip to dealership and two more hours of my time for their mistake.

Why I'll never buy from Deacon Jones again...

By Erk on 7/3/2017 at 7:53 PM. Helped by John Smith.

Why do car dealerships have to be deceptive? I'm so disappointed in my hometown car dealership. I purchased a used car on March 30th. While signing the papers, the financial officer told me how Deacon Jones was an admirable and trustworthy company and even how God lead him to work there. When it came time for my first car payment I was shocked that my payment was $100 more a month than the salesman had spoken with my husband about. Now I have to take ultimate responsibility for not paying attention to what I was signing, but I was without any question tricked and deceived into purchasing a $3,500.00 warranty and the Gap insurance was double the cost we were qouted by sales manager. Lesson learned from this mistake on my part as well, my husband had "worked" the deal with the salesman and due to scheduling he was not with me when I officially signed the papers. Again, this is my mistake in thinking I could trust the car dealership to honor their word with my husband. Due to my misplaced trust I admittedly did not read papers as I should have when signing. This is also the reason I did not know the Gap Insurance price I signed for was double what my husband was quoted and agreed upon. I fully accept my responsibility for being deceived. Today my husband and I went in and requested to see the video of the night I signed the papers. Again, my fault for not understanding what I was signing, but from watching the video my husband and I quickly saw how I was tricked. The finance man quickly told me about the warranty, even brilliantly drawing on paper as to deceive me into thinking he was being very clear with me when in fact this in itself is a deceptive tool to distract the signer. Then he showed me a piece of paper with 2 options and said which one of those will work for you. Well, my options were pay $3500 that day or they'd put it into my monthly payment. I replied, well my husband didn't tell me to write a check today so I guess this one. Now, what was left out of this tricky sales pitch was "or you do have the option of choosing neither and your car payment will be nearly $100 less a month as verbally discussed with your salesman when you agreed to purchase the car. While we were allowed to remove the extended warranty today, my monthly payment will not decrease. I will have to continue paying the higher payment which is going to be a financial strain. $100 a month is a big deal on an educator' s salary. To continue in the deception and flat out lies, while watching the video today I noted chops in the video and how conversations changed abruptly. I ask if parts were cut out of the video and I was told no. As the video play back ended I recalled how I called my husband during that time and that was not on the video, along with other parts of the original conversation I remembered were not in recorded video. The finance manager insisted that the video was full account of what happened the night I signed my papers. Well when I left car dealership, I pulled up my detailed phone report and I was correct. A phone call was made to my husband during the exact time of the video recording. Again, I know there is a component of trickery and deception to any sales... but I'm very disappointed that a hometown business flat out lied and intentionally tricked me. As my husband said as we left today, "Well they got us good. But it won't happen again.' By the way Deacon Jones... you lost a very expensive truck sale because of my story. If you think one person's experience can't impact your business, you are mistaken. I may have fallen for your deception, but I have learned my lesson and will continuously share how I was lied to by financial manager at Deacon Jones of Smithfield NC.

Harassed by dealership

By Harassed by dealership on 6/23/2017 at 7:23 AM.

Be extremely cautious if you decide to do business with this dealership. I traded in my vehicle a few months ago. I was first very pleased with this dealership because my family and I had a wonderful experience. We would even recommend people to check it out. A few months later, I received harassing phone calls. They claimed that we didn't tell them that our car had a salvage title and we would now owe them money because they would not be able to profit from the vehicle. I know for a fact that the vehicle does not hold a salvage title. I called my insurance company for verification. I also ran a vin number report that also proved that it did not have a salvage title. Whenever I called the dealership to prove my case, they would continue to tell me that the car was not going to sell to make a profit. And we would have to pay out of pocket for the loss.

Underhanded and deceptive practices.

By Dwight on 4/6/2017 at 1:49 PM. Helped by Zach, Andy.

Went in a couple months ago interested in trading our Pontiac Torrent for a new Equinox. We test drove the Equinox and returned to dealership and waited for the appraisal of our car. When I saw what they were offering me for my car I told the salesman no and that it was way too low and for him to give me my keys and I would leave the dealership. The salesman got up and returned with whom I figured was the sales manager(a big guy) who proceeded to ask me what was the problem and I asked for my keys with that he acted as if he was holding my keys for ransom and I ask for my keys again which he then complied with my request and my wife and I proceeded to leave the showroom floor with the sales manager and sales person following behind us to our car at which the sales manager then offered me twice as much for my car at which time I told him that if Deacon Jones was alive he would fire the entire crew around there. I have received calls from them since but have no desire to deal with them as they low balled me and are dishonest.

*Beware* Keep your keys

By Antwan Short on 2/22/2017 at 5:46 AM. Helped by Cody and management.

My tires were not rotated as stated on my 2016 silverado. The reason I know is because i have them set up for the level i have on an my back passenger is the only tire with regular air in the tire. If it wasnt needed they could have atleast said that. While getting my vehicle serviced I walked the lot looking for maybe a potential vehicle for my wife. They had some loaner traverse the had on sale i like one said i would bring my wife back with my 07 tahoe i would maybe trade in. My wife saw the car she liked it they took my tahoe for appraisal. After continusly asking for a price seeing it was on sale i was continusly told to wait will they had my keys. They continued to try to make me fill out ally finicial paperwork but i could already afford msrp i wanted to know sale price since it was a loaner and on sale (what i was told by salesman cody and a manager). I had my wife take her keys an start the car with hers thats when they sent another salesman out. I let them know what i was asking was simple and they could send it in a email seeing i filed in the guess worksheet they asked me too. They did not want me to get my keys. I thought about it and they were the same way when i got my truck except at that time i wasnt as wise of a consumer. These guys make the car buying process very hostile and uneasy. I just feel bad for the people they have taken advantage of trying to sale you on a car payment and not vehicle actual price. I will be changing my servicing depart and still shop chevy (in my heart) but if i was on the fence this dealership would have completly turned me away.By the way never got anything back about the 2017 traverse i looked at. False Advertisment!!!!!

By roebuckb on 12/21/2016 at 8:30 PM. Helped by Zack Upton Sales, Andy Dworkin Sales Manager.

Deacon Jones has a $5000 price match guarantee, that if you bring them a written offer from another dealer with the same vehicle and trim levels and options that they will match it or beat it. So I found one and I brought them a better offer from another dealer than what they were offering. The only difference was the other truck had more expensive mirrors on it than the one deacon jones had at there dealership. Same color, same truck, same trim level. So I asked the sales manager can they match or beat it and he said no its not the same truck because it has the extra mirrors on it. I said the mirrors are just and option, its the same truck with same trim level and color. He said he could not match it so I asked him about the $5000 they are supposed to give you if they cant match or beat the price. He said he couldn't do it so I said that you shouldn't advertise it if you can honor it. Then he told me that we have the right to refuse business to anyone. I said I bet you do when you have to pay out of your pocket. DONT TRUST THESE PEOPLE AT DEACON JONES DEALERSHIP IN SMITHFIELD. THEY ARE LIARS!!!!!!!!

Nightmare

By Nichelle Moore on 9/15/2016 at 2:20 AM. Helped by Sales, finance.

I have lost all faith in auto dealerships after my experience there. Maybe it was just an isolated incident. Either way, the idea that I now feel dooped by a car salesman, which I almost swore wouldn't ever happen to me, leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. I thought that I was purchasing my 50th birthday dream car, but it has turned out to be a nightmare. Now I don't love my car. I thought I would!
