Mike Salesman Great / Jeff Finance - Not Great

By Clarkvt on 5/29/2019 at 6:42 PM.

We bought a "used" 2016 Subaru Cross Trek from Ed Reilly. Worked out great with Mike the Salesman. Polite, professional and fair. When we went to the finance meeting with Jeff, he would NOT stop pushing to up-sell me with the extended warranty. I had to say NO 5 times even to his "employee" rate. Asking me why I did not want it. I told him that I was buying what I thought was a quality and trustworthy car. If I thought I would need a warranty, I would not want the car. The funds saved on the warranty I would use to have my local guy fix what is wrong. He kept telling me that the same Chinese manufacturer that is used for Chevy's electronics are the same ones used for Subaru electronics. He said he just had to have his Subaru wheel bearings replaced at a cost of $ 1,600 and with the extended warranty he did not have to pay anything. I was really surprised to find a Subaru employee trashing Subaru's just to up-sell. He made me feel like the person int he wrong because I did not by the warranty. Not happy the purchase process!

I would not recommend this dealer.

I immediately said this number isn't going to work and the manager and I got in argument as to why and he tried to devalue cars due to my mom smoking in hers .... manager said I'm not working with her stormed away lI left went to Grappone and got $23k for both cars.

Flexible and Helpful

By NHresident on 5/20/2017 at 8:10 PM. Helped by Shawn.

Showed up without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon b/c CEL was on and car was vibrating. They took me immediately, five minutes later they knew what the issue was. Shawn was very helpful in efficiently collecting all the information necessary to develop a course of action, and he recommended a parts store close by that was reasonably priced. When I got back with the part, he installed it immediately.

Not Impressed with this place, when I bought the car they said that oil changes were covered with the $1500 warranty wrap that was added on. Now I go back to get the oil change and they say it's not covered and that they had never said that.

Great Sales Experience

By Dave on 1/12/2017 at 8:56 PM. Helped by Russell.

Stopped in to check out the Subaru line recently. I am a previous owner and customer at the dealership and even sold the brand years ago. Still a big fan! I dealt with Russell and can best describe the experience as a class act. He was willing to exchange info by email and made the process easier than ever. No take over by the manager, no BS, no problems.

I would recommend this dealer.

Best Subaru Dealer in NH

By Orange Crosstrek Buyers on 10/7/2016 at 11:36 AM. Helped by Debbie Nelson.

I went to Ed Reilly Subaru over 2 years ago and bought our third Subaru, a 2009 Outback which is a certified pre owned. I have had to replace the front right strut which was covered under the extended warranty I purchased. I have ALWAYS been treated very professionally buy all the people at the dealership. We bought our 2nd Subaru at Manchester Subaru, a 2013 legacy. From the time we got it it was burning oil. It had to go in so many times and we had 2 new short blocks put into our car because the engines kept burning quarts of oil. The oil light went on several times in between consumption tests. We were treated like crap. Last engine they put in they poked a hole in my radiator and they had to replace it. The first engine we got replaced, they forgot to put on a bolt that holds the engine in place. We were told that it had two more.xxx! They gave us old non matching tires when we bought the car and refused to replace them. Again we bought a pre certified car. This past week my wife was in a bad accident and the 2013 xxxxx. legacy was totaled. One good thing is it kept it's value and we got back $1500 after 2.5 years of paying. I will never go their again. To all these people giving one star and complaining about not being told about a recall and not having it fixed are liars. No matter what any dealership can do warranty work and do recalls. How nice the people are in service I can't see anyone getting a hard time. They give free lifetime inspections for cars they sell. We are in the process of getting our 4th Subaru because they saved my wife from getting hurt worse than what she is. The first place we went was Ed Reilly. Debbie Nelson is our sales woman and she is a very kind honest woman and I'm grateful she will be getting the commission when we sign final papers after this accident gets settled. They are working with my wife and I so we get to keep the vehicle, we put our 500 dollars down and are already approved through them with the same credit union as my car that I got from them. This case may take a few weeks but I was told the car is ours, and my monthly payment will depend on the down payment we will get. I will tell everybody to go here. They have been nothing but very nice and professional to my wife and I. Thank you Ed Reilly for the great service we have gotten from you over the past 2.5 years. We will have many more purchases from you in the future.

I would recommend this dealer.

New Forester

By Charles M on 4/20/2016 at 3:08 PM. Helped by Bri, Brian.

Just purchased new 2016 Forester at Ed Reilly Subaru. This was my 4th Forester from this dealership. Another GREAT experieince. I got what I felt was a good trade in value. I had hoped for 5K, they offered 5K. So I asked for 6K anyway... and got it. Paperwork was done smoothly, people were great. The car I wanted was on the lot in the color and interior and model I wanted. Couldn't be easier and more pleasnt. Strongly recommend. .

The worst Subaru dealership in New England

By annrac on 1/18/2016 at 5:25 PM. Helped by Kent, Bri, Mel, Jim.

I spent $30,000.00 on a new car at Ed Reilly Subaru in June of 2015. When I purchased my care I was told that there was a hold placed on Subaru sales. I asked 2 different people it there was a recall and I was told, no. In fact, I was lied to and there had been a recall. Shortly after I was allowed to pick up the car, I began having issues with the Eyesight Camera, which was involved in the recall. I had me car in for the problem no fewer than 5 separate occasions and I was told that nothing was wrong with my car. Finally, I took it to a different Subaru dealership where they were able to tell me what was happening with the camera. I received terrible treatment at Ed Reilly Subaru, from being lied to and to receiving terrible customer service. If you want lies and bad customer service, by all means go to Ed Reilly. If you want to be treated with courtesy and respect go somewhere else.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Big time sleazy

By patsfan54 on 10/24/2015 at 1:19 AM. Helped by Ken.

At my first service visit for my new Subaru they claimed that Subaru was recommending oil changes every 3,500 miles due to New England's "harsh climate" but could not back up the claim with a service bulletin. Owners Manual states oil changes every 7,500. Total B.S. Took my maintenance business elsewhere but just started having battery issues. Needed two jump starts in one day. As it was under warranty I brought it back to Reilly's. After two hours they told me that they had determined the battery was fried but that it was so fried that they could not get a trouble code out of it with their computer and because they couldn't get a failure code, Subaru would not cover replacing it. They said I could bring it back next week and they could try again but after multiple jump starts that was simply not a realistic option. Totally ridiculous.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Service us appalling!

By unhappy on 10/13/2015 at 9:10 AM. Helped by Ken, Jim in service.

During the sale they are okay. I soon realized all they wanted was to make the sale. The service department terrible...The manager Ken is.rude, Jim is also rude, neither of them listen and the problem is rarely fixed. I will never purchase another car from this dealership and I absolutely hate taking my car in for service. I will be contacting Subaru of America to make a complaint.

Amazing customer service

By makinitinco on 7/3/2015 at 3:23 PM. Helped by Bill, Gary.

I initially went to Ed Reilly for a test drive, that was it. I work with sales people frequently. Gary was not like many others. We truly had a great time test driving the cars. I fell in love with a Forester and put it on hold but promised my husband I would test drive other cars. After long negotiations with my husband and taking the car off hold, we agreed on the Forester. However, we wanted to go through our credit union for financing. I called Bill, the finance manager, and he said that they go through the same credit union. Luckily, it was still available (there were minimal cars available as they kept selling). It came time to find my title to my trade in. I spent an hour looking for it and half hour in line at the DMV. I was frustrated and called Bill, he told me that he would take care of it all just come and get my new car. In addition, when I went to get my car, Bill was able to finance me through my credit union at a cheaper rate! Bill and Gary made a potentially difficult situation into an awe striking relieving transaction.

I would recommend this dealer.

Free state inspection?

By bobbie s on 4/10/2015 at 5:04 PM. Helped by service dept.

I went to have my free inspection and was told everything was fine. I noticed after the inspection a grinding noise with braking. I called the service department and took the car back ten days later. I was then told I know need back brakes and the cost would be $380.00. I expressed my amazement that this was not picked up on inspection. I took the car to another dealer and the brakes were not just marginal but basically no pads left! I had the brakes replaced for $305 and I was not a regular customer there as I had been @ Ed Reily's, where I had purchased my car. Reily's never offered a discount for my inconvenience or for their incompetance in inspecting.

I would not recommend this dealer.

service manager is a crook.

By kuroneko_sama on 7/11/2014 at 10:47 AM. Helped by wish i could remember his name..

went in for an alignment... after 2 hours of waiting they decided to give me a laundry list of over $2000 in repairs before they would even ATTEMPT to align my car... I took it down the road to concord collision center and got a 4 wheel alignment for under $80 and they told me it needed nothing.... the car passed inspection at a different mechanic shop 2 weeks prior. they basically charged me $45 to take 2 hours of my time and tell me they wouldn't align my car without new tie rods and other parts that checked out fine at 2 other places.... that service manager is a crook (and has a fairly rude/condencending personality complaining about what they scheduled that day and such)..... i feel like they tried to take advantage of me, a 7 time Subaru owner

Found the best priced model of exactly what I wanted in a 100 mile radius, managed a long distance deal with Fred, everything was exactly as he said with the vehicle, no surprise charges, everything was exactly as Bill said with the paperwork, and he was able to beat my Credit Union's finance rate. They delivered the vehicle to me, best price, easiest car purchase I've ever made, the drive up to them was worth it as it saved me thousands of dollars.

By SewingNeedles on 2/24/2014 at 7:41 PM. Helped by Kent.

Avoid this dealership at all cost. This is the worst dealership I have ever been in. I dealt with Kent in service. He is supposedly the service manager but he has no idea what he is talking about. The pricing that he gave me changed 4 different times but the repairs did not. It was always the same repair but prices kept changing. Everytime I tried to speak with him regarding the repairs and a price he was evasive. That was when I could reach him. Not sure if he thought that he could put the screws to a women. The other people in service were clueless. I even spoke to a person in parts at one point and he was just rude as I was trying to get an idea of what the price of the part for the repair was going to be since I could not get a straight answer from Kent. The was completed and the repair is fine. Thankfully the mechinic knew what he was doing. Sadly I would never return because of the run around and awful customer service. The WORST dealership I have ever been in PERIOD!
