First Team’s Service Dept

By Neptune on 9/20/2018 at 7:34 PM. Helped by Diane, Rachel, Service Manager..

Hats off to Diane Johnson and FTH service dept personnel. In particular, I want to thank her and Rachel McClellan for their unwavering support in assisting me with my Hondas. Both them and the new service manager make it a point to ensure I receive quality service each time I visit. Give them a raise each time a new vehicle is sold. They deserve it!!

I would recommend this dealer.

The service department is horrible

By Christina on 8/31/2018 at 2:12 PM. Helped by William, Service Manager.

The sales team is great! The service department is horrible. No more than 3 months after I purchased a new vehicle my radio started to occasionally stop working. I have videos when my radio randomly turn off. The dealership refuse to fix the problem because it works when it's in the shop. The service manager and Honda told me in order for them to fix it, it must happen all the time. I will never purchase another Honda and I will never purchase a vehicle from First Team.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Fantastic deals and customer service

By Brittany D on 7/18/2018 at 4:17 PM. Helped by Mark Bowles, Andrew McMillian.

I had such a pleasant experience with this dealership (specifically the manager Mark and sales consultant Andrew). This was my first time buying a new car and they made the experience so easy for me and were extremely patient with me (I'm talking weeks of me going back and forth). I originally wanted to buy a used vehicle but the offers they made quickly changed my mind to leasing a brand new one (seriously, you could not turn down these deals). They also had a recent college grad program that I was applicable for and offer a lifetime warranty once the manufacturers warranty runs out so I know I'll always be covered. They even drove a car down from Richmond for me so I could get exactly what I wanted. I'd highly recommend this dealership for your car buying needs!

I just purchased a 2017 Honda Accord and I must say out of many car buying experiences this was definitely the best! D.A. Young and the Sales Manager Mark B. are such a dynamic team! Great atmosphere, great company, smooth transactions, and great price. I would definitely recommend purchasing your next car with D.A. Young, such a honest man. Mark B. is one of a kind, a business man and a great sales manager. Thank you!!!

Interested in purchasing a used car

By J&C on 5/28/2017 at 2:38 AM. Helped by can't remember.

I recommend through my experience you do not shop a First Team Honda. I was looking to purchase a used automobile. First, while speaking to the Sales Manager on the phone, yes the Sales Manger, I could overhear multiple people in his office laughing and talking amongst themselves. After visiting the dealership and test driving a vehicle I was somewhat interesting in purchasing I was made to feel like an idiot by the same Sales Manager. The heater was broke and was throwing out cold air. I was questioned by the sales manager if the heater was really broke and if I was confusing the heat outside with the heater being broke. I have no interest in revisiting this business again.

I would not recommend this dealer.

By C&DJoyner on 3/24/2017 at 2:27 PM. Helped by Matt Service Department.

We took our vehicle to be repaired because we had no heat... and Matt (Service Dept) calls this morning and said our car is ready and all put back together. Guess what we brought it there with no heat and now there is a bill of 700 plus dollars and still no heat!!! Curtis Joyner

Happy customer!

By Dana R. on 11/14/2016 at 11:30 PM. Helped by Mark, D.A., Courtney.

Mark and D.A. went above and beyond to make my car buying, (ended up leasing with option to buy) experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. All my needs were met and my questions answered.... boy did I have a lot and they had a lot of patience. Any time something has come up, my phone calls have been promptly returned; let me mention Courtney's excellent customer service at this time. Enjoying my 2016 Honda Civic EX. Worth the drive!

Excellent Service

By NJ1971 on 11/16/2016 at 1:23 PM. Helped by Mark Bowles.

I followed my salesperson from Casey Honda to First Team. He actually arranges my appointments and my service experiences have been seamless for my 2010 Odyssey. Reasonable prices and excellent communications. I have not experienced anything like what other reviewers have mentioned. Glad I made the switch!

Unresponsive service managers.

By Not happy with First Team on 11/4/2016 at 11:53 PM. Helped by Service writer, service manager and her boss..

After being unhappy with service at the Western Branch location of First Team I called the service manager. She was is a showing someone from Honda corporate around the dealership so I left a voicemail. Several days later I still have not gotten a return phone call from her. When I hadn't heard from her I called her boss Lloyd and left him a voicemail about my situation that I wanted to talk to someone about. Guess what? I haven't heard from Lloyd. We've been dealing with first team Honda for 9 years and until now we have never had any serious issues period has first team been sold? Are they trying to save money so they got rid of all the people that have been there for years? Why won't they return phone calls?

I would not recommend this dealer.

Customer for life!

By KM218 on 1/11/2016 at 6:24 PM. Helped by Todd Marselek.

I have been coming to this dealer for service on my Honda for 4 yrs now...If there is ever a time where you feel like the service wasnt up to par just speak to a manager. They aim to please and appreciate their customers. That says a lot. They really do try to strive for ppl's business which is why I continue dealing with them. I went across town in Chesapeake to buy another car at another Honda dealership because First Team Honda didnt have much of a selection at the time. Worst mistake! Even with the other dealership's gimmicks of free oil changes and engine guarantees you can't beat First team Honda's attitude going above in beyond to provide excellent customer service. while they may not give you free oil change but their vehicles are already price cheaper than that competitor that it really does NOT matter. Plus how much do you really spend in oil change a year anyway? $130 if even... Not worth paying thousands in total price of a car at the other dealership. Do your research and do the math. In addition to the care, and excellent customer service you will receive at First Team Honda. Spent your hard earned dollars where a company value you as a person and not how much they can get from you.

I would recommend this dealer.

Update to my previous review

By urpurdy on 10/5/2015 at 8:56 PM. Helped by General Manager, John McDonald.

I wrote a review on First Team Honda today because I was very upset with the service manager named Diane and the "Tires for Life" program. After I wrote the bad review, I went to First Team Honda and spoke to the General Manager, John McDonald. I explained everything to him about how I was told I needed new tires but I would have to pay for them and they would not honor the Tires for Life. He was very nice and without any delay, he corrected the issue. He had four new tires installed on the car and covered the cost with the Tires for Life contract. Mr. McDonald was very professional and pleasant. He listened and took fair and reasonable action and turned me from being irate, to a satisfied customer. I love my ol' Honda CR-V, but someday I will have to buy another car and when I do, I'll have no doubts about buying from First Team Honda as long as Mr. McDonald is there. He gained my family's and my trust by honoring the contract and keeping us safe. Thank you.

I would recommend this dealer.

There more worried about getting your money then helping you

By Marcuslove123 on 9/7/2015 at 6:58 PM. Helped by Don't know Manager.

First team Honda is full of cramp. The only thing they want is your money and there very unpleasant. I been to 10 dealerships in the past week and by far this is the worst. They lie to you and tell you things about a car that not even true. Pretty much the customer is an idiot and there car geniuses. Need to hold training on customer service, not B.S in customers.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Unpleasant experience.

By donewith1stteam on 9/2/2015 at 8:49 AM. Helped by Mr. Young and I believe the lady in finance name was Farmer.

There are many areas in which this dealership could improve. They tend to rush the customer into deciding on a product, beg them for high rating on their Honda Survey, and once the deal is complete their lazy Salesperson doesn't take the time to go over the features of the car with you and says read the manual. The finance representative beg the customers to purchase the extended warrany then gives the customer a guilty for not buy. If everyone on their team from sales to service would simply do their job, their would be no need to ask the customer for high survey reviews.. Basically, I would not recommend this dealership.

Only a HONDA for me!

By Ann L. on 5/1/2015 at 10:37 AM. Helped by Mr. d. A. Young.

When I was young I needed a car (used) every 5-10 years. Now that I am in my "golden years" I splurge and buy a new HONDA every two years. I bought all 13 Honda's from FIRST TEAM HONDA on Western Branch Blvd. My salesman, and the only one I buy my cars from, is D.A. Young. Now this guy really knows his stuff and will treat you with courtesy and dignity. D.A. is both knowledgeable and committed to getting his customers the best deal possible. I trust him explicitly. The service department is unbeatable. I don't have to spend the day waiting for my car to be ready. I love how approachable all the service staff are and the manner in which they address any issues. I never had any major problems with my cars because they are too new to have major problems but I do go in for the recommended service, free state inspections, etc. Make a visit. Talk to D.A. Young and decide for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

I would recommend this dealer.

Well Worth the Drive Whether You Live Near or Far

By Sharon P on 3/27/2015 at 4:14 AM. Helped by Dixie-Anna and Ashley.

Family Honda #6..my son finally traded in our 1st Honda, the '99 Accord (274,000 miles) we bought new for a used CRV. Gotta love those Hondas. First Team Honda did a GREAT job for us, if any LOCALS are in the market. Once Dixie-Anna (392-2048) in their internet search dept located the vehicle we were looking for, saleswoman Ashley (439-0774) took over and made sure everything went smoothly. Don't think we could have found a better deal anywhere, and we tried...lol. Would have saved time just going to First Team to begin with. We'll definitely be going back the next time we need a car. Nice to see a car dealer where pushiness is NOT the norm.

I would recommend this dealer.

2014 Honda Civic experience

By labratcdt on 1/2/2015 at 3:06 PM. Helped by GM and Sales Person.

Writing this review a little late, but I was in the market a few months ago to purchase a 2014 Honda Civic. I shoppes all the local dealers on price and availability, First Team came in with the most competitive quote with an out the door price a few hundred (Not Much) below Hall Honda. So I proceeded to start the process of purchasing the vehicle from first Team. I was told for the price I was purchasing the vehicle ($20,500-Out the Door) they would need to order the vehicle form another dealer since the package I wanted was not on the lot, and it would take a few days to get the vehicle not a big deal right(Put a 500 dollar deposit)? Wrong! a week we went by and no calls or updated info on expected delivery, I had to call every other day to get a hold of the sales person to try and get an update but he said that the GM was working on it and that any updates would come from him. So another week goes by without any updates, so now I decide to go to the dealer and an update from the GM, waited over 20 minutes to get my sales person and then an additional 30 minutes to talk tot the GM. The GM was not helpful at all and in the end I ended up asking for my deposite back since it appeared nothing had been done to obtain the vehicle. Long story short I ended up going to Hall Honda and getting my price matched and they had the vehicle on the lot. I really wanted to give this dealership a try since it seemed smaller and I like going with local and home grown businesses(Big Mistake!), but I have to say that Hall treated me so well and there service department is awesome!

I would not recommend this dealer.

Disgusted

By lanceofnorfolk on 10/9/2014 at 1:34 PM. Helped by sales manager.

Paid $10,000 cash for a 2003 Accord. I bought it while it was raining....clear coat is peeling horribly and with less than 20,000 miles I had to spend $4,000 replacing the water pump and clutch. Called and was told I would be called back and it would be made right....that never happened. Avoid at all costs.

I have been trying to get my car serviced correctlyfor 1...

By freestyle on 10/1/2012 at 6:14 AM. Helped by Diane Johnson.

I have been trying to get my car serviced correctlyfor 1 month, first time part was not ordered, second time wrong part was ordered, third time part was ordered wrong again and my car is still not fixed. I have been inconvenience so badly and it's like that's ok. I am driving my car that might fail me and all I get is the "the third party company is sending the wrong part. Oh the part that you ordered/asked them to send, what happened to the check system to avoid last minute issues. I have called several times before I bring my car in to avoid any mishaps only to be told everything is on schedule/ready to go. So I have been driving on a failed inspection sticker for one month because I keep getting excuses. I am told on one hand that the other company is to blame and then told we messed up in the same sentence. I just want my car fixed and get a inspection sticker saying my car is fixed and meets Virginia State inspections. First Team started this project and they will fix/finish this project. Lets see what will transpire with this issue or what/who First Team would like me to do to get my car fixed correctly by them or get someone/other people involved to resolve this issue. I am eager to see just how this note will prompt attention to solve my issue finally. I am so frustrated, I can even say the words I want to say and still be considered a lady!
