Ever wonder why Yelp gives this clip joint a 2?

I can't believe that a clip joints like GJ Ford get a decent rating. More objective, juried sites rate this place a 1 or 2. When I left this dealership I vowed to do an on-line review and was told "Go ahead. We write them faster than you can". I towed my truck in to get a service quote. After a $350 'preview' they told me it would be another $1300 to tear down and really confirm that I needed a timing chain and then another $800 to repair. I towed it home to consider. In the meantime, I googled 'F-150 cracked cam phaser/timing chain problems' and found it is a know defect in those trucks from 2004-2012. Some motorhead friends also advised that the problem would likely ruin the engine. I went back in to talk with the service dept. who 'rechecked with the mechanic' and they were 'pretty sure it was just a timing chain'. I left the truck in my yard. Months later I found a good deal on-line at GJ Ford. I took some photos and my work order out and explained the situtation. They suggested my truck could be worth $9k as a trade-in minus the $2k for repair on the work order. After going in 'the back room' to discuss, they came out and said they would need to deduct at least $6k as they 'were pretty sure' my truck had a blown engine. When I called 'foul' and suggested that they 'were pretty sure' of opposite opinions depending on whether I was buying a repair or trading in the same vehicle, the Sales Manager (G) told me to 'get the xxxx out' I wrote a letter to Gus which was ignored until he had to respond to a complaint inquiry from the Attorney General. Unfortunately, the AG can't do anything if the business denies guilt other than record it and watch for complaints that signify a trend. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before enough people complain about getting ripped off that the AG takes action. Beware of this Auto Row 'Fraud' Dealer.

It is so easy to deal with this dealership as their philosophy is "take care of the customer." The sales staff listens well and is knowledgeable about the Ford product line. I have had three great experiences with this dealership and highly recommend them. If the need arises I will return.

Quick overhaul

Brought my wife's car in for a quick overhaul. Always professional and helpful! They fixed what was under warranty and gave me options for things that don't have to be fixed today but may need attention in the future. I've never felt in my 15 years w/ Gus that they were 'padding the bill' or fixing things that didn't need fixing. I've bought 4 cars from Gus and will go no where else! Gus' staff are FORD EXPERTS!!

Rich Casey is far and above the best car salesman there is! He recently retired but offered to comeback and help us. With the assistance of Gordy, Ann and David(that where awesome as well!!!), We were able to purchase another great vehicle from Gus Johnson. Never had a bad experience and have been using them for regular maintenance and car purchases for 10 years and don't plan on changing anytime soon!

Gus' crew rocks!

Gus Johnson Ford has been servicing my work van for years, so when it came time to by a new truck for my personal use, there was no question where to go. The company I work for switched brands of vans, when Ford quit the Econoline, so I ended up having a lot of warranty work done at another manufactures dealer, and their service is not even in the same ball park as Gus Johnson Ford. I will always take my truck to them for service.

!!! Buyer Beware !!! They really ripped me off.

!!! Buyer Beware!!! One time there, and I will never go back to Gus Johnson. Hopefully I can save you the big losses I incurred. They really ripped me off. When I was going to walk on a used car overpriced on Kelly Blue Book. They produced a Kelley Blue Book by VIN number with 5 additional items that mine did not have, saying I had made a mistake. Turns out they added the 5 items manually on standard VIN Kelley Blue Book and those 5 items were never on the car, and were not in their ad which I based my Kelley Blue Book value on. They said they knew the previous owner, the car was well maintained, they thoroughly checked out the car and everything was working fine, and produced a report where the brakes measured 5mm and there were no mechanical issues found by their mechanics. Turns out the brakes measured less than the recommended replacement of less than3mm, and there was $8300 needed in immediate safety repairs, and an additional $6300 in other repairs needed for multiple items not working previously documented in the repair logs when I took it to another dealer. I asked to return the car and unwind the deal within the 3 days and they refused. After being treated right by Ford for over 40 years the first one I go into after moving here does so many unexpected after the deal verifiable lies. !!! Buyer Beware !!!

Transmission issue.

Straight forward, no games, no gimmicks.

I decided it was time for a new pickup, and the only questions were which specific model and what dealer. With plenty of options for both, I set out on my quest. After I parked my motorcycle in truck area, I was met by Ed Everstine. I let Ed know what I wanted as far as amenities and equipment, and he showed me what Ford had to offer and the differences in equipment packages. We took a test ride in a truck with the engine and transmission pairing I wanted, and I was sold! Now, it was to decide on the specifics and if I wanted to purchase. I went back a couple of days later, found the specific truck that satisfied my desires and got the numbers solid on my trade--which were a lot better than the other dealers by the way. One more night to think about it, and my mind was made up! Ed told me to call him on his day off so he could come in and take care of me, which I appreciate greatly! Ed worked hard to make sure I bought the truck that met my desires and that I was satisfied completely throughout the process of the purchase.

Lance Beckley was our salesperson and he was amazing in helping us figure out which one of the three cars we actually wanted to take home. He was not pushy but present and we were very very happy with his patience with our questions and emotions. I was trading in a car I'd had for 10 years and loved to buy a bigger car to accommodate our new dog. He answered our questions and helped us come to a decision without ever making us feel like we were taking too long or in his way. Ann Williams, finance manager, was equally friendly, patient and knowledgeable as well. By the way I she was great at the up sell. :) It will take me awhile to get used to driving a car that rides higher off the ground but I think in time I will grow to love it as well as I did my previous car.
