Stellar car buying experience!

By M. Eileen Brown on 5/24/2017 at 3:18 AM. Helped by Lukas & Ricardo.

My wife and I purchased a new 2017 Subaru Legacy recently, and could not be happier with the overall experience. We requested an online quote from Lukas since we knew all the options we wanted. Lukas was very prompt with his bid which was very reasonable and a fair price. The other dealer representative's response at another dealership was "we will match any other bid you receive". Having spent my career as a salesman I very much resented that approach to making a sale. It just supported our decision to buy from Jim Doran in McMinnville. The salesman who met with us was Ricardo, The Mac Car Guy. Ricardo was very knowledgeable, patient and very personal with us. He gave us a very fair trade-in on our 2012 Legacy, and spent as much time as we needed covering all the new features of our new Legacy. For anyone looking for a Subaru I would strongly recommend going beyond the I-5 corridor to check out Jim Koran Subaru in McMinnville. We think you will be very happy with your car buying experience. Eileen & John.

I would recommend this dealer.

Great Experience

By Alan on 2/14/2017 at 4:01 PM. Helped by Lukas.

I worked with Lukas & had a great experience buying a used car! My daughter went & test drove the car & I was able to negotiate a fair price over the phone from out of state. When I later was able to come to town to make the purchase for my daughter, the transaction was smooth & the process was painless. No "bait & switch", no up-sell tactics for stuff we didn't want, etc. Even though I was not buying the most expensive car on the lot, Lukas & his manager were courteous & extremely helpful.

I would recommend this dealer.

Impressed!

By Paula on 10/5/2015 at 7:08 PM. Helped by Tom, Demian, Steve.

Very pleasant experience, I expected the opposite from past experiences with dealerships. Tom, Demian and Steve are all very personable people, never felt pressured and didn't have to play a numbers game which I expected. Good team of people and we will definitely recommend Doran Subaru to our friends and family, very relaxed atmosphere...you guys do a great job!

I would recommend this dealer.

We're Smiling!

By Judy on 8/30/2015 at 3:40 PM. Helped by Demian Cratty, Tim Elliott, Steve.

We called Jim Doran Subaru and spoke to Demian Cratty about a particular Forester that interested us. He was informative and not "pushy" as other salesmen from various dealerships had been. When we asked if he could give us a better "deal" than the MSRP, he called back with a figure that was within our price range. So we drove to McMinnville to check out the Forester and found Demian had put it aside and was waiting to show it to us. I explained that I didn't want a salesperson who goes back and forth to his superiors for various prices while we wait. His response was, "I gave you a price over the phone and that's what it will be. If you like the car, the whole process will be very simple." Next we checked out the vehicle and my husband test-drove the car while Demian explained the Eye Sight capabilities. Wow! We were impressed. Thank you's to Demian and also Tim and Steve who completed the paperwork. Doran Subaru salespeople are knowledgeable, warm and made closing the deal so easy. We're smiling!

I would recommend this dealer.

Simply the best!

By Carrie Wong on 8/28/2015 at 3:48 PM. Helped by Tome Jenson and SteveThompson.

To me it is not normal to say what fun I had buying my new Subaru Outback from Tom at Jim Dorn Subaru in McMinnville, but it was! These guys are amazing. We bought our first two Subaru's back in 2001 from them and 300,000 miles later - we are back. The purchase was so hassle free and honest that I can not recommend these guys enough. They we so professional, helpful and nice, I drove back up to McMinnville a week later and brought both Tom & Steve each a couple of boxes of gourmet chocolates. I had called in and told Tom exactly what I wanted and gave him my information. He called back in an hours and said I was all set. The entire purchase took me less than 20 minutes for paperwork and then about 30 minutes playing with the new Outback. It does not get better than that!!

I would recommend this dealer.

Recently, my father who is in his 80's, is nearly deaf...

By apocalypsenow on 8/4/2011 at 6:50 PM. Helped by Not sure.

Recently, my father who is in his 80's, is nearly deaf and just recently lost his wife a few weeks ago, went to Jim Doran Subaru in McMinville to have a new key made for his Subaru. In all of his confusion and misery of the past couple weeks he had lost one of the keys to his car. When he arrived, he was quickly met by a fast talking, high pressure salesman before he could get to the service department. The salesman told him that it would be very expensive and extremely difficult to have a new key made. My father actually told me that the salesman told him at one time that it could not be done. The salesman then pressured him to buy a brand new car even though his car was completely paid for, was only a few years old and had very low mileage and in perfect condition. Through all of this pressure, fast talking and manipulation, my father drove out with a new car that he had no intention of buying. When I got to his home that night, I found him completely confused, flustered and nearly in tears. I took him back to the dealer with the hopes that they would be compassionate to his mental and physical state and the fact that he had no idea why he couldn't have a key made for his car and why he had to drive a brand new car home. Immediately upon arrival I was given a very hostile reception by the salesman who had sold my father the car and who clearly knew why I was there. I proceeded to tell him that what he had done was not ethical. He got very angry and directed me to the sales manager. It was pretty clear from the minute that I walked in that the sales manager had no interest in hearing my request and he gave me a long, well rehearsed "dog and pony" show about how it is impossible to stop the deal after only a few hours and how the state of Oregon Vehicle Dept. would not allow them to take a car back would not allow them to give him his original car back. At one point the salesman came into the office and went off on a crazy, wild screaming, maniacal tirade about how the deal was done and I was just there to try and take his "sale" away from him. We finally got the crazed salesman out of the room and I continued to plead my case with the sales manager who then also became very insulting to us by saying it was our problem that my father didn't understand what was going on when the salesman was pushing him to buy the car instead of letting him get the key for his old car. I asked to talk to the owner but again I got the "run around". The sales manager asked me to leave his office so he could secretly discuss this by phone with the owner and within a few minutes he called me in to say that Jim Doran refused to see me and also said that Jim Doran didn't care about discussing this situation or the unethical behaviour of his sales staff and that as far as he was concerned it was our problem to deal with the car and my father's situation. I figured that this was a lie or that Jim Doran really did say those things but it didn't matter if the owner doesn't promotes and encourages these kinds of predatory sales tactics. After witnessing this unbelivable exhibition of greed and disrespect, I believe that Jim Doran fosters a corporate culture that is quite willing and eager to exploit and take advantage of the sick and elderly at any opportunity for profit.
