Service dept: They almost got me stranded!!

DO NOT take your vehicle to Ken Garff Hyundai downtown! I am Female. I took my 2005 Hyundai to them for a recall (new straps for gas tank) and decided to also have them do my emissions test and registration as it is due this month. Less than 1 hour after leaving their facility in my car, my check engine light came on. Shortly thereafter the engine totally quit on me. Fortunately I was where I needed to be and coasted into a parking space. When I came out the car started up just fine, but I decided to head home and switch vehicles because the check engine light was still on. I made it from SLC to Bountiful MACU. As I was leaving the drive up, the engine quit again, forcing me to coast down a tiny hill into a parking space again! I waited a few minutes and the car started up again just fine. I quickly drove home and parked it. I then called the service guy, Jake Bussio, and asked him "What did you do to my car?" They had told me on this big sheet of paper that I needed to change my timing belt ($550) and that my Left front axle seal is leaking ($220). He said that they would give me a free tow back to their facility on Tuesday and check it out; and would call me before any repairs were done. After talking with my husband, we decided to take my car to Auto Zone in Bountiful on Memorial Day 2018. (THEY are awesome! 1st, they are open on a holiday; 2nd, they read codes for FREE!) The code showed "Massive Air Flow Failure". The guy popped open my hood, and as I was standing there I noticed as he was pointing out what could cause that code that the ENTIRE AIR FLOW TOP WAS CROOKED AND UNLATCHED! The Auto Zone guy re-latched it for me, and told me the code should reset and I was good to go. My car was running Just Fine before I took it into these Garff guys. I will NEVER TAKE MY CAR TO KEN GARFF DOWNTOWN AGAIN!! They caused me undue stress, I could have been stranded on the highway, and they tried to rip me off on repairs!! BEWARE!!

Got a square, no-non sense deal

To tell you the truth, I'm only looking for an A to B car, not a night club on wheels. Getting a good quality basic car with a fair amount of warranty backing is all that I really needed and wound up getting. Added to that, my sales rep was pretty much on point with my wants and needs and didn't try any high pressure techniques. Just a couple to a few papers to sign and I'm out the door with more debt LOL

Bad Experience & Customer Service

Overall very poor experience with Ken Garff Hyundai in Slat Lake City, Utah. I purchased a Genesis from out of state with less than 10,000 miles and paid over $30,000, so I had certain expectations. When it arrived it only had one key, it was completely filthy(I looked at photos from when the delivery driver picked the vehicle up), the gas tank was empty, it had no floor mats, the sales person Anthony wouldn’t call back after the purchase and when getting my registration they under paid $176(but agreed to pay “all transfer/title fees). Individually they are pretty minor issues but then no response from the dealership when trying to address them is where it gets frustrating. All I know is they contacted me many more times before I purchased the vehicle than when I was calling to address my issues. After getting forwarded to the customer service representative she assured me she would call back the next day to deal with things, but still hasn’t followed up. There are MANY dealerships out there so I highly recommend you don’t purchase from Ken Garff Hyundai in Salt Lake City and take your business elsewhere.

Quick and easy

We arranged the deal over the internet and phone I was emailed exact copies of what the dealer's price was and we negotiated an agreeable price over the phone We set a time to run down and sign the paperwork which had no extra charges or pushy salesman trying to do the add on stuff We were at the dealership about half an hour and went home in our new car

Great sales team. Ayla was fabulous. Not as satisfied with the finance department. Had several issues. As of today, a month later, still not resolved.

Quality Work!

We were in a bind. Our vehicle's transmission failed us on our thousand mile journey to Utah. We needed a new car. Referred to Ken Garff Hyundai DT SLC, we already had in mind what make and model we wanted and what options were critical. They didn't blink an eye and within minutes of our walking into the dealership were met by professionals—not your typical car salesmen (we weren't afraid :)). They had the crossover we wanted in a price range we wanted; but we didn't buy the vehicle that night. In fact our decision to buy was the night before we were to make our drive back home. Anthony was off work that day; but he'd given me his cellphone number and when I called him he was willing to give up his plans that night and meet us at the dealership to complete the transaction. We convinced him to not do that and he handed us off to Kyle who was patient with us to the very end (we kept him after hours and his family called/texted him several times to see when he was going to show up to the gathering but he never showed an ounce of impatience with us!). The only downside was that we didn't leave them enough time to apply the clear bra on the front of the vehicle.

If you are looking for a car, go and see Brandon at Ken Garff Hyundai Downtown. He is knowledgable, patient, and NOT anything like the typical sales guy who just wants to sell you anything. He genuinely cared for what I was looking for. I have bought a lot of cars and have never had such a great buying experience and it was all because of Brandon.

The dealership was professional, Brandon was knowledgeable. My only complaint was the vehicle had been parked where the water sprinkles had been getting it wet for apparently a lengthy time, which blemished the paint. The dealership hopefully corrected this issue.

car buying experience

I'm old school and don't like a lot of red tape. At Ken Garff when dealing with the sales staff and explaining my buying preference they kept all the talk simple and went slow enough that i understood and was comfortable during the sales process. It was a simple enough and good enough that this is our second Hyundai. My son also purchased a car from this dealership.

Needs a little customer service work

They have not been the easiest to work with in getting things taken care of. They delivered the car late and without the second key which I still do not have. No one was able to go through the features of the car. I am not even sure the perma plate has been applied.
