Not good for there word

By What ? on 11/11/2018 at 2:10 AM. Helped by Chelsea.

Disappointing and poor moral values. My husband called them on a Friday to tell them we would be traveling five and a half hours to look at a truck on Saturday. He made it clear we wouldn't arrive until noon. Upon arrival at 11:30, they informed us that they had sold it 5 minutes ago. They had his cell phone number, and a reputable business would have called. A man is only as good as his word.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Very helpful

By Cbmertz30 on 10/2/2018 at 2:50 PM. Helped by Matt Lasiuta.

We let Matt (manager) know what we were looking for in a used truck, and he got back to us much quicker than expected with a few options. One was exactly what we were looking for. He was very helpful in arranging a time for looking it over and test driving. We bought it the following day, which was also quite easy. We paid cash, but the finance folks are right there too. The staff have been very responsive and helpful with some follow up questions we had about incidentals (license plate, tabs, etc) in the days after we bought it. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I would recommend this dealer.

They are not straight

By Pags on 9/1/2018 at 4:43 PM. Helped by Russ.

In summary of this long review; I bought a decent used pickup from Koppy Motors, but they were not straight with me. Neither did they quite live up to their 120 point inspection process with me, that they boast of… they did the minimal amount of repair work instead of the proper repair work. Lastly I was constantly interrupted and talked over while trying to negotiate. The salesman had no interest in hearing the numbers I had researched on CarGurus, Edmunds, Kelly BB. He just talked over me when I tried to present them. It is "buyer beware" when it comes to used cars, and Koppy Motors is no different. The pickup I purchased had fresh paint overspray on the frame, shocks, wheel well and a wire harness. When I enquired about it the salesman dismissed it as factory overspray. But I knew that was not true. Vehicle bodies (that are mounted on frames) are spray-painted at the factory before they are married to the frame, so there's not chance at all of there being paint overspray anywhere else. Right away I knew that the salesman was not being straight with me... it just set a tone of suspicion and wariness for the rest of the sales process. The pickup was mechanically sound, and drove well. The engine ran smooth and had the power I would expect from this engine. The exhaust looked clean, not emitting blue or white smoke. The transmission shifted smoothly. The front end felt tight as it should be and the truck handled well. I could not find any evidence of a collision that I suspected might be the case due to the paint work. I was looking for this specific pickup configuration and color. So I purchased it even though I was feeling a little uneasy about the paint work. After purchasing it, my mechanic inspected it and said rust repair work had been done very recently which explained the paint work. The cab corners had been replaced. The entire sides (both) of the pickup body had been painted, as well as the rocker panels and lower cab corners on both sides. While they seemed to have properly repaired the cab corners I was disappointed that they just simply painted over the smaller rusted areas around the rear wheel well without actually removing the rust... sloppy work. When I pointed out the rust bubbles under the paint the salesman asked "Whadaya expect for an 8 year old truck?" I was trying to point out that they had been painted over but he was reacting as if I was just pointing out that they existed. Why couldn't the salesman just have been straight with me about this instead of dismissing the obvious telltale, with a wave of his hands, smugly saying "Oh thats just factory over-spray". I mean how do you react when you know a salesman is lying to you? Do you call him on it and submit yourself to further lies with him trying to defend the original lie? Or do you just keep quiet and take notice that he is not being straight (which is what I did). My mechanic said the pickup was good but noted that one of the rear shocks was starting to leak and ought to be replaced. He also pointed out that the rear brake pads had just been changed but they neglected to replace or turn down the rotors as they were scored...this is usually done in a professional quality brake job. I would expect these two things to have been properly repaired as part of their 120 point inspection they boast that their used cars go through before being put on the lot. The salesman claimed the pickup was a fresh trade-in but CarGurus showed it had been listed for 85 days. An obvious effort to push me into buying it before others came to look at a "fresh" listing. Why couldn’t he just have been straight about this? I mean the evidence was on CarGurus. Another instance of the salesman not being straight with me involved my trade-in vehicle. The salesman asked if the timing belt had been changed on my trade-in, a Subaru Outback. I was honest and told him it hadn’t. It wasn't quite due yet for another 5,000 miles or so and it hadn’t occurred to me that it would become a factor in negotiating a price until he brought it up. He sensationalized the fact that it hadn't been changed yet and said it would cost from $1,500 to $2,000 to change it. When I got home I called my local Subaru dealer and asked what the cost was and they said $650. The RepairPal website says the average cost of a timing belt change is $380 to $700. This irks me because I compromised on what I was wiling to pay for the used pickup based on his $1,500 to $2,000 timing belt change cost. I paid $700 more for this vehicle by compromising splitting the fictitious cost of the timing belt replacement. Furthermore, the salesman said that nobody was interested in my Subaru Outback trade-in and that it would just sit on his lot… which was just plain BS. After the deal I watched for it on their website and it got listed for precisely $4,000 more than I traded it in for and it was gone in less than 2 weeks. And I wonder if they changed the timing belt before reselling it? Lastly, they failed to get me my proper registration stickers and paperwork within the 21 day temporary registration period. I could not legally drive the pickup for 3 days. They said it had already been mailed to me, but it was was post marked the day after I called. They said it was the DMV's fault but I went to the DMV first before calling them and the DMV told me that the paper work had already been processed and and the dealer was slow in mailing it to me. This really aggravated me to the point I decided to write this review because it was one more instance of not being straight with me, not to mention that I couldn't legally drive the pickup over the weekend and to work on Monday morning. In conclusion, I like the pickup, and I'm okay with the rust repair ( after all this is MN and vehicles rust here), and I’m angry with myself for folding on the price based on the misinformation the salesman fed me about the timing belt replacement costs. If they were just straight with me and had properly fixed the things they boast about inspecting I'd be much happier with this deal.

I would not recommend this dealer.

I would definitely refer others to Koppy Motors!!

By Angie Walton on 5/19/2018 at 12:35 PM. Helped by Matt Berg.

I had researched and stopped at many dealers searching for the perfect car. I reviewed Koppy Motors inventory via their website, and saw many vehicles that were in my price range. I completed the online application, and within 3 hours Matt Berg contacted me to inform me that I was approved for financing. He walked me through every step of the process and eased my worries As a woman purchasing a new vehicle can seem a bit overwhelming, and intimidating. Gratefully, Matt never pressured me, and I felt confident that he was working for me. I loved the smalltown family atmosphere, & the individualized attention I received! Matt found me a car that was a PERFECT fit for me, and within my budget. Matt stayed late to help me finish the paperwork and my entire experience was amazing! I never thought I would own a new car, be financed at a great rate, and would be given any trade in amount for my less than perfect car!! I cannot thank Koppy Motors, and especially Matt enough for helping me find the perfect vehicle! I will be a lifelong customer and would recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle from Koppy Motors!

I would recommend this dealer.

Fantastic Experience

By Mary Cloutier on 5/24/2017 at 1:26 AM. Helped by Matt Berg.

We just purchased a really nice truck for our son last weekend at koppy Motors. We worked with the salesperson Matt and he did a fantastic job. We asked for a few things to be taken care of before the purchase and immediately it was done. The process was very smooth and in a timely manner. We had a really good experience and would recommend this dealership to others. Everyone was really friendly. We would give them a five star rating..

Great Car-Buying Experience!

By daveandlynn47 on 5/11/2017 at 9:27 PM. Helped by Salesman Matt.

We had a great experience purchasing our second vehicle from Koppy Motors. The price was great and they evaluated our trade-in fairly. They went out of their way to find us just the vehicle we were looking form. The delivery process went smoothly with no surprises. Everyone we dealt with was honest and professional. Our salesman Matt went out of his way to see to it that we were satisfied. Our expectation were exceeded in every way. We can't recommend Koppy Motors highly enough, and we will do business again in the future.

I would recommend this dealer.

By Major Dad on 2/10/2017 at 7:42 PM. Helped by Dan, Kieth, Frank.

Over the last 22+ years I have purchased 8 used vehicles from Dan Koppy and they have done 90% of my service work. Honest and fair in every interaction. I don't usually write reviews but this place deserves it. Kieth and Frank have worked on my wife's and my daughters cars and never suggested unneeded work or over charged.

Theyre a horrible dealership, don't care if they rip you off

By Morgangold on 5/30/2016 at 5:54 PM. Helped by Dan, Chad, zack.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM KOPPY MOTORS!!!!!! PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU PURCHASE!!!!! I bought a 2010 Land Rover LR2 from the about 6 weeks ago. Paid 18,000 plus I got the warranty they offered. They told me there were no problems with it and that they had fixed everything from the previous owner. Two days ago my car started overheating and my check engine light came on. I have only had this car for 40 days, and haven't even made my first payment on it. I spoke with someone who is knowledgable with cars and he informed me that it was most likely the coolant fan. I called the dealership to see what my warranty covered and they couldn't give me any answers. Just told me to bring it to a mechanic and have them contact the warranty company. I asked several times if the radiator coolant fan would be covered and they said I would just have to bring it in to a mechanic. I brought it into a mechanic and they told me it needs a new radiator coolant fan, a new radiator coolant module, my spark plugs are failing, I need a new ignition coil, and it needs a new oxygen sensor. I had given them the warranty information and apparently my $4,000 warranty only covers internal lubricated moving parts. I spoke with the dealership today and they told me to contact Zack, a sales manager I believe. He didn't answer my first call and I left a message. I called again about a half hour later and he told me he would pull up my file and check my warranty, and stated that my warranty should cover more than what the mechanic was told. He said he'd pull my file and give me a call back. An hour later, I still didn't hear anything, and tried to call him and got no answer. About half hour later, the employee that had originally sold me the car, Chad, called me and said he would look at my file and see what the warranty covers and call me back. An hour later, I still hadn't received a call back. I called there again and spoke with Dan. He asked me to email over the diagnostic results and that my best bet would be to bring it in to their service shop and have them look at it. I'm about 120 miles away, and I asked if I got it towed there if I would have to pay for parts and labor, and he told me he wasn't quite sure. So why would I pay $300 to have it towed there and then have to pay the $2500 in repair fees? Not to mention, they couldn't do the work on it when they first had it and had sent it down to American imports to be fixed. I emailed them my diagnostic report at about 2pm today before I had to work. Called back at 5:15 and was told that Dan was out of the office. I asked them if they could have him call me back around 6:15 when I have my 30 minute break. I called back a little after 6 and was told he was tied up with things and sent to voice mail. I called back at 630 and spoke with Dan again and he said that I should get a second opinion because sometimes mechanics just like to 'look for work.' He recommended me to tow it down to their service shop and that he may be able to provide discounted parts and discounted labor. I called back to get a better idea of what the discount would be but he was not there and this is where I'm at right now. I sent an email and left a voice mail on Friday, and they are open Saturday and also today (Monday), and when I called today, I was told he wasn't working. I understand that I may just be a very unlucky person and all of these things just happened to go bad after I bought the car, but you would think a decent dealership would at least have a little remorse if you bought the car less than two months ago and be able to help me more than just telling me to get it towed and that they 'may be able to offer a discount.' No the owner, Dan, won't even take my calls anymore. I will continue to update you all on my situation. Please do not waste your time with these people! They are very rude and do not care about you as a customer after they get your signatures and money. Please rethink and buy somewhere else!! If anyone has any questions feel free to personal message me for more info.
