Terrible Service

Took our 2012 Genesis Coupe here for a check engine light in June. Service Dept charged me $100 to reset the check engine light and said everything was fine and to bring it back if the check engine light came back on. A month later the car would not start. Had it towed to Lake Norman Hyundai where it was diagnosed with a stretched timing chain which had done significant damage to the engine. Was quoted $2200 for repair. Asked the Service Manager, Kurt Joseph for help and he said they had done everything correctly and that there was nothing he could do for me. Went to the dealership manager, Rick Grey, who literally told me to take it to the dealership that I bought it from. I also called the Regional Manager, Greg Pavolov who told me that it was not his job to talk to customers about their problems. Wow, I never thought I could experience such consistently poor service. I eventually had the car towed to a local engine shop and they replaced the timing chain for less than $1000. I will NEVER take my car to Lake Norman Hyundai and will NEVER consider purchasing another Hyundai based on the way that I was treated at Lake Norman Hyundai.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Best Customer Service Experience

My wife and I both agree that out car buying experience with Kevin Trieu was the best. We purchased a Santa Fe Sport a couple of months ago from Kevin and the experience was so great, that when it came time to make a change with our second vehicle, Kevin was our first call. Kevin's professionalism and customer service was impeccable. First time, literally, we had no stress in making decisions on buying/leasing our vehicles!

We had a stellar experience at Lake Norman Hyundai. We came all the way from Cary to Lake Norman Hyundai, because we found the vehicle we really liked online. We had shopped around for about a month, and we decided to drive down just "to see what they had" We were more than pleased with the way we were treated. We happened to meet Mr. Chris Rooney, and he was extremely knowledgeable about Santa Fe Sports, which was the vehicle we were looking for. We went on a very comprehensive test drive, and Chris made sure that we drove around enough to see that this exactly the right vehicle for us. He also made sure that I understood how everything worked (which is not a small thing.. there is a lot!) I really appreciated all the time that he took, because I have had other dealer experiences, that were not as positive, so thanks so much, Chris. We will definitely come back to Lake Norman Hyundai, and will find you again, when we are in the market again! THANKS!!! :)

Salesman Tayler Green

Tayler being a new salesperson was extremely polite and wanted to make sure he hadn't overlooked anything in regards to our transaction with purchasing the car. If he needed to ask his manager a question he did. I believe Tayler is an asset to the sales team and will have a very successful career.

Very poor communication regarding pending warranty work

For the past two years, I have suffered a "fool's paradise" regarding the bad communication offered by the Dealership. Over two years there has never been one phone call confirming my warranty parts were on hand to repair my Genesis. From tires to internal repair work, not one phone call to confirm my warranty work was in and please bring in my car. The last time, four months ago, they gave me a free oil change because the parts were never ordered. Today, four months later, still no phone call. My lease was expiring I was serious about rolling into the new Genesis 90, I met with the Genesis salesman, who made me look up my payoff, he was "too busy," I called him two days later, left a voice mail message, he never called me back about the new car, can you imagine? Needless to say, I went back to Audi and their tremendous service. As much as I loved my Genesis, Lake Norman Hyundai taught me to leave the car.

What a joke

You would think after buying a brand new car and leasing another that you would get excellent service. I chose this dealership from my great experiences in the past even though I currently live in SC. If you want a car salesman who's arrogant, rude and has absolutely no idea what he is doing Thomas is your guy. They come up with numbers from nowhere- prices higher than whats on the internet and try and trick you. Then when your salesman doesn't actually check into how much you owe on your lease and gives you bogus number, tries to pressure you into signing it.. you say no and he comes back with a number 2k higher because he didnt do his research in the first place. The finance manager is another unprofessional clown who looks like he just rolled out of bed. Also it gets better!! Their customer service agent Monet calls to ask how my experience was- acts concerned then never calls me back. Guess what.. I rode down to gastonia and they earned my 23k :) Seriously never do business with these people- they are why people hate dealerships and buying cars.

I would not recommend this dealer.

We were extremely pleased with the customer service that Thomas provided us. He had extended knowledge of all the different models and didn't waste our time having to "check on" things. We told him what we were interested in and there wasn't any unnecessary pressure to look at anything else, he respected our price range and worked diligently to get us in a car that we drove off the lot as once again extremely happy customers!!
