Excellent Service

By Cooper on 12/8/2018 at 3:58 PM. Helped by Al, Kal.

Quickest and most straight forward car buying experience I've ever had. Called and told them my situation over the phone early in the morning. I filled out an application online and they had me going home my truck by noon. John, Al, and Kal were very down to earth, and very pleasant to work with. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a truck. They have a ton of em

I would recommend this dealer.

Diesel truck purchased from here.

By DTE on 10/26/2018 at 2:56 PM. Helped by Kal. Sam. AL..

I purchased a 2008 Diesel from here. The guys there was helpful, but the truck it's self had problems. When test driving it, it drove good, but the steering wheel was not aligned at all, but they sent me to a place to get it fixed. I went there after the purchase to get it fixed and the place fixing it just messed it up more. It would not let me shift the truck into 1st or 2nd gear. I thought it was the transmission so I took it to a transmission shop and they looked at the steering and come to find out the people that was suppose to "fix" it stripped out two screws and didn't hook first or second back up. That was 35 dollars to fix. Then a couple of days later the truck was leaking grease from the pitman arm. Come to find out there was no grease fitting so the grease was pouring out. There was no leaks when I bought it because it was only test drove about 10 minutes up the road versus now I drive it an hour one way to work everyday so that's when it started showing leaks. Also when the mechanic i took it to climbed under my truck to look to see where leak was coming from it was coming from gearbox and the pitman arm was loose. I took it back to the mechanic near my hometown to get a new gear box installed. The mechanic told me I was driving on borrowed faith because the gearbox could have went out at any time and could have caused me to crash. At the time of the purchase I had my four year old son with me and I told the dealer that before I left I would need the steering fixed where it was not aligned because I had a 2 hour and 25 minute drive on interstate back home. So going 65mph on interstate and if the gear box would have gave out and my son and I would have crashed we could have gotten killed. I had the gearbox replaced and called the dealer and after talking to them they agreed to send me the 600 dollars I spent back in the mail. The truck turn's like a tractor when pulling out of parking lot or getting ready to move even after new gearbox. It should not be like that. When test driving it, it did not do this because everything was not heating up like it does now since I drive it more. Another thing is the title. The dealership finally got the title and is suppose to be sending it in the mail. I paid for tags, but I wanted my current tag transfered. When I told the dealer this they said that I would have to have a weighted tag. That would be making me have to pay property taxes on the tag again when I've already paid the tags in February. I asked the DMV if I needed a weighted tag and they said no as long as I don't pull anything that is going to weigh more than 10,000LBS. Which I'm not. I also took this truck to a ford dealership and the certified tech asked me while I was there where I bought the truck from and I told him a dealership in North Carolina and he told me that the truck I bought was initially not suppose to be sold to me the way it was. Come to find out the truck has after market exhaust in it with a programmer somewhere in the motor. The ford tech told me in the state of North Carolina the trucks are supposed to be checked for emission and this one would have not passed so the Ford tech does not know how the dealership was able to sell me the truck. If the stock exhaust was put back on then it would be fine. The ford tech told me I could go back and get my old truck and I was going to go get it but it had been sold the day before. The truck still turns very bad and there are some other minor things that do not work like power mirrors folding in. Back up sensors also do not work. And the head liner is also coming down from the roof of car. One of the back seat belts is also locked up. I would love to give a good review for this dealership but as of right now this is where I stand because I just don't know what's going to mess up next. If the state of North Carolina had the 30 day rule I would be taking the truck back. State of South Carolina has it where if you buy something that is messed up like this you can take it back before the 30 days. Both states have the Lemon Law, but it seems that it really only applies to new vehicles. Hopefully in the near future things get better here. All around customer service was okay. And buying of the truck was smooth, but when I left I trusted this truck to be a safe truck for me and my family and as of right now it is hard to say it is. The truck I traded in for this one had absolutely nothing wrong with it. Also when looking over at the truck I noticed the truck was marked down to 24,999 on the sales tag in truck. When I metioned this the guy told me that they stick with their prices when it is an error like this. The truck was actually listed on their website as 25900 and after sales tax and other cost it put it up to more than 26000. After the guy told me they stick to their prices and I could get the truck for 24999 he talked to his boss and they said that they couldn't do that because the price on website was correct and the one that was listed on the actual truck was not. So if you go here to buy a truck be careful with the price and I would advise anyone that buys a truck to take it straight to a mechanic that day to get the stuff looked at ASAP. Update on 10/29/18 last Friday I was driving the truck and turning in the parking lot I heard a popping under driver side and it sounded like it was right under floor board. Decided to Google this and found that it could be sway bar or the links for sway bar. Today took it to Ford dealership and come to find out tie rods needed to be replaced and it needed to be aligned. This cost was going to be 689.00. After speaking with the dealership multiple times they told me they could only do 200 and that was it. After getting frustrated which a customer shouldn't after only having truck 2 weeks the dealership agreed to pay the 689.00 after arguing. The ford techs told me that this truck could be taken back because of the aftermarket exhaust. It is against the law to sell trucks like this in North Carolina because of emission checks. The dealership told me they replaced the tie rods before I bought truck. The Ford techs told me that the tie rods had never been replaced because tie rods do not go out in two weeks. So I had the dealership send me copies of receipts of the things bought for it. The drag link was also replaced right before I purchased it. I told the dealership it would have been nice to know this before the purchase so that I would know stuff has been replaced. The dealership is still waiting on copies of receipts from tie rods.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Great Family Buisness

By Jacob on 5/29/2018 at 1:52 PM. Helped by Al, kal, Omar.

I bought my first car here and will get my kids first car here as well. The family that runs this place really works hard to find you what you want and insures you get a good deal.

Poor business ethics

By Disenfranchised on 5/15/2018 at 8:17 PM. Helped by Kal, Annette.

I made a cash deal with this dealership and, in doing so, they did not pay sales tax for the vehicle purchased. There was NO AGREEMENT for them to withhold the tax. Essentially they increased their profit by $500 but cost me an additional $500 out of pocket before I could register the vehicle. Terrible business ethics to scam $500 on a $19,000 cash deal. Would not recommend.

Clutch went out the next day!

By Dickymoe on 4/24/2018 at 11:29 AM. Helped by Wally.

I purchased an 01 F350 from Landmark. The following day the throw-out bearing in the clutch started screaming. Took it to a Tranny shop here in Wilmington, where I live, and $1500 later sent the parts bill to Landmark because after speaking to the owner John Zayyad, he agreed to pay for the parts because it happened the VERY next day. Needless to say, I called over a dozen times, over a 4-5 month period, and EVERY time I got a new excuse as to WHY John couldn't come to the phone. Funny how he was NEVER there after the issue, but was there ALL of the three times I had visited prior to and on the day of making the purchase. If they weren't going to honor a their warranty on covering just half of the expense of the new clutch, then WHY say they would?? Do what you say you will do, and you won't look SO xxxx SHEISTY!!!!

I would not recommend this dealer.

Quick and efficient.

By TravJack777 on 8/26/2017 at 9:00 PM. Helped by Kal.

This was by far the shortest car buying experience I've ever had. The staff was knowledgeable and knew exactly how to move the process along. I recommend them if you've done your research and they have what you want. Negotiate before you go to the lot though as they seem to be against the idea once you're there, but that would be my single complaint. Overall a pleasant experience so far but I will review again once my purchase has been inspected. Great deal, worth the trip.

I would recommend this dealer.

Professional and Willing to Help

By BobSkene on 3/30/2017 at 3:40 PM. Helped by John Joe Kal.

I was having trouble getting in a vehicle due to horrible credit. Landmark helped put me in one without the usual run-around given by most dealerships. They put me in a car that checked out 100% with my mechanic, unlike the pieces of junk other dealers tried to put me in. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a used car!

I would recommend this dealer.

Don't buy here!

By Msingleton415 on 6/16/2014 at 10:57 PM. Helped by Joe, John.

On Monday, May 26th my fiance, Chris and I went down and purchased a 2006 dodge ram 1500 extended cab from Landmark Auto in Smithfield. Joe, the salesman, assured us the vehicle was a safe and reliable vehicle as I told him I would be putting my 1 year old daughter in it. At the time of purchase we were told the truck had 2 minor issues (power door locks not working and rear power sliding glass not working) that would be fixed. I brought the truck back down there the following Thursday, May 29th (with my daughter in tow) to have the minor issues fixed. When I got to Landmark Auto that day they figured out the power rear window system needed to be replaced entirely and didn't want to incur that expense and ordered a manual window to replace it at a cheaper cost, and also ordered a part to fix the door locks. I came back on Friday, May 30th (with my daughter in tow again) to have the new parts installed. The window was replaced and the part for the door locks was installed but didn't take care of the issue. I was told by Joe that they didn't know what or how to fix the door locks and they wrote me a check for $100 to have the truck taken elsewhere to be fixed. Now at this point I was slightly frustrated but no where near as appalled as I am now. Fast forward two weeks later and Chris noticed that the brakes were starting to grind and give out, something that shouldn't be happening two weeks after buying a vehicle that supposedly had new brakes. On Thursday, June 12th Chris purchased new brakes and rotors to fix the truck but was never able to replace them because the tools that came with the truck for removing the wheels (which were in the truck when we initially test drove the vehicle) had never been put back by Landmark Auto when the rear window was replaced. When Chris came home that evening the brakes seized up right before he was able to turn into the neighborhood. The truck was seized up and none of the wheels would move. Friday morning, June 12th I called Joe to tell him the issue with the truck and that there was some underlying issue with the truck he sold us and asked him what he was going to do to fix it. Joe preceded to yell at me and tell me his trucks go through nc inspection before going on his lot and he didn't know how we had driven the truck for the last two weeks and that brakes were a regular maintenance issue and it was our problem and he would do nothing to help and then hung up on me. After I got off the phone with Joe I had the truck towed to Westgate Chrysler Jeep Dodge to have the problem diagnosed. I just received the call from Paul at the Westgate CJD Service department this morning telling me that the wrong brake fluid had been put into our truck previous to us purchasing it. The contaminated brake fluid caused the whole breaking system to swell and block fluid from the brakes so they seized up. I was also told that we were very lucky the truck seized up as we were pulling into our neighborhood because it could have happened at any moment and would have caused a serious crash had we been on the highway. The entire brake system needs to be replaced at a cost of $3500 which is the same amount we just put on a down payment on this truck 3 weeks ago. After I got off the phone with Paul at Westgate CJD this morning I called Joe at Landmark Auto to tell him I found out that it was an underlying issue and not a regular maintenance issue and that he sold me an unsafe vehicle knowing I was going to be putting my daughter in it. Joe, once again, preceded to yell at me that his vehicles go through inspection and that the truck he sold us wouldn't hurt anyone. Then when I said this is a $3500 issue that he sold us this truck with he said he's not the one that can do anything about it, so I asked to speak to the owner of the company and Joe told me he was not there. I then asked Joe for the owners phone number so I could speak directly to him and Joe once again started yelling at me that he wasn't giving out his bosses personal phone number and then hung up on me again. We are a middle class family just trying to get by. We were sharing a vehicle prior to purchasing this truck which left me as a stay at home mom without a car during the day, and now thanks to Landmark Auto we are back in the same situation 3 weeks later. My fiance saved up for months to have enough for the down payment and we don't have that much money again 3 weeks later. I hope you can help us as we are at our witts end and don't know what else to do.

I would not recommend this dealer.
