Beware of Bait and Switch

after extensive searching on the web and 2 months of looking for a new F250 i was happy to find a nice lariet F250 with all the options i wanted at a good price of $57k. i called, spoke with a salesman whom confirmed the availability of the vehical. i told him i lived 4 hrs away so i need to know what the final out the door price would be , he would get with his manager . they called back the next day and told with a price of $67k, when i asked why the huge jump in price his response was, "well your not a First responder are you". So any of you 1st responders out there dont forget to get your $10k discount.

I would not recommend this dealer.

BUYERS BEWARE!! This car dealership is the epitome of bait-and-switch and terrible customer service. If you’re not familiar with bait-and-switch, it’s where they advertise their cars as bargains and then when you get to their dealership, they jack up the price, saying that the price listed included all the incentives, etc. Therefore, they start taking away all the rebates, add a multitude of different fees and your total ends up being significantly higher than what was originally advertised. Unfortunately, my husband and I fell victims to their scheme even though I thought I was covering my basis and being extremely careful. If all the other bad reviews aren’t a testament to the way this place does business, let me share our story. My husband and I had been shopping for a black 2017 Ford Mustang. They did not have any black colors available in our area, so we decided to search a little further. That’s when we came across one at this dealership that was posted on CarGurus.com. I decided to call them last Sunday (11/19/2017) to inquire about the final cost of the car. The first salesperson I was able to speak with was very nice. We had explained what we wanted and she came back with a price that was still a lot higher than what was expected from a car that was listed at $19,995. In addition, we had previously visited a local dealership the week before who had offered us a good deal on a white color; so, we wanted to see if they could either match this price or beat it so that we could get the color that we wanted. Some other things that we were also taking into consideration was that this dealership was located 2.5 hours away (one-way) and we would also need to make babysitting arrangements for our 23 month old if we were to purchase a car from this dealership. After hearing our concerns, the salesperson stated that she would check again to see what they could do and call me back. Several hours later, we ended up getting a call back from another salesperson. I’m not sure what this man’s exact title was, but he was very rude and unprofessional. He actually came back with an even higher price than what the first person had stated. He seemed upset that we were even trying to negotiate the price. When I had mentioned what the first salesperson and I had previously discussed, he began to say that she didn’t know what their paid for their cars, that she was new and pretty much that she didn’t know what she was talking about, so he wouldn’t even entertain what she had previously told me. Obviously, we ended the conversation not seeing eye-to-eye. This salesperson was unable to see that my right as a customer is to be able to call and ask questions about the pricing of the car and be able to negotiate. All he had to do was say no, not go the route of being rude and throwing his co-worker under the bus. The next day (11/20/2017), I received a call from the first salesperson who stated that she wanted to follow-up and she also wanted me to talk to her manager who would be calling me. Of course, I never heard back from the manager; however, when we were continuing our search, I came across their Black Friday promotion, which advertised the same car for $2k less (now for $17,995). Foolishly, I ended up calling the dealership back on 11/22/2017 to see if I could work something out with the first salesperson since she seemed reasonable. That day, she ended up calling in sick, so I received a call from a person who stated he was the general manager. Well, I went over the whole situation again with him and explained that I wanted to know the “out the door” price, that includes fees, taxes, titles, everything. He went over the itemized amounts and came to an “out the door” total of $22,386. Again, he stated that this price included everything – titles, tags, taxes, processing fees, all incentives that we were eligible for, etc. I was sure to confirm this price multiple times. At no point in time did he say this price was contingent upon us financing with them. The one thing he reiterated was that it is a Black Friday special and that we would need to be there first thing at 7 am since it was first come first serve. Once again, I voiced our situation of being 2.5 hours away (one-way) and also having to make sure we made babysitting arrangements for our 23 month old. I explained that I would not be making the trip if this wasn’t the price of the car. He said that as long as we get their first thing he would make sure that it was ours. After we hung up, I emailed him a confirmation that we would be heading their way on Black Friday to purchase the car for $22,386. Well, fast forward to today (Black Friday – 11/24/2017), I made arrangements for my son to be taken care of and my husband and I were on the road by 4:00 am this morning to ensure that we would be at the dealership promptly at 7:00 am. We drive all the way up there, test drive the car and sit down to begin the paperwork when we are told that $22,386 would not be the price of the car. She said that we would need to finance through them to get the deal, which the manager had never mentioned. We emphasized again to the salesperson what the manager had told us over the phone and showed her the email conversation where I confirmed this. I had her call him over, in which he proceeded to be extremely loud and belligerent. He stated that he had “read it” to me while I was on the phone, which isn’t true. He had never even asked me about financing it or even mentioned this as one of the itemized items in the final cost. He wanted to get us up to the dealership so that we would have to give in since he knew we had already inconvenienced ourselves. Even after I reminded him of the email, he continued to deny the price and grew louder and became more obnoxious. After a few minutes, my husband and I just turned and walked away. Were we mad? Yes! Not at the fact that we didn’t get the car, but at the fact that he had wasted our time and was so deceitful about it. In retrospect, even in this short period of time, this was a blessing in disguise. When we test drove the car earlier today, there were several red flags, one being that the check engine light came on, which prompted us to look under the hood in which we found the big piece of plastic that covers the battery to be unscrewed and just loosely sliding around the top of the engine. We did check one other mustang that had the same problem. However, since it could easily be screwed in over the battery and we had already invested so much into this trip, we ended up minimizing the problem so that we could proceed with the purchase. Luckily, a case of bad car sales tactics helped us quickly make the right decision to walk away. However, it still doesn’t make this manager’s behavior okay and his actions and the second salesperson’s actions from 11/19/2017 speaks volumes to how this dealership conducts business. To this manager: What type of person do you have to be to know that your potential customers had to make babysitting arrangements for their 23 month old, leave at 4 am to drive five hours round trip, to go back on a price that was previously agreed upon? You are despicable. You lack professionalism, character, customer service, and most of all trustworthiness. This is not how you earn customers. I feel sorry for who you are as a person and I will pray for you! For everyone else who is in the market for a car: Look elsewhere and stay far away. This appears to be a common theme with this dealership as evident from the other reviews that are posted. Even if you have previously made a verbal agreement and have written proof, they will still not honor it once you are there. Please learn from our mistake. It will save you time, energy, gas, money and a lot of inconvenience.

Nice place and people...watch out for number fudging!

The dealership is huge with a large inventory and friendly low-pressure sales people. Probably the biggest mistake we made was telling them how long we had looked for this specific model/configuration that they had in stock. Right out of the gate, they would not honor the WRITTEN offer they gave us, and jacked the price up by $2,000, stating it was due to rebates/incentives we weren't qualified for, but turns out the rebates/incentives they were talking about weren't even applicable to the model we were buying. They had us over a barrel knowing how badly we wanted that specific car and they took advantage. We will not return here for a vehicle purchase and will avoid them for service as well.

I have had some great experience at Leckner Ford, I go there for all of my services on my vehicle. I have been looking for a vehicle for awhile now and the manager J.W. has really worked with me in getting me what I want and what I can afford. He didn't try to push me into buying something that I knew I would not be able to afford. Will continue to go back for service work and to buy vehicles.

J.W. Painter, the GM at Leckner Ford provided us with the best service that we have ever experienced. We saw an F-150 online at their website and requested a test drive. Soon after, I received an email from J.W. Painter and we scheduled a test drive on the vehicle that we saw on their website. Saturday morning we arrived at Leckner Ford and waiting for us in front of their store was the F150 we found online. We test drove the F150 and J.W. answered all questions we had.
