Long time customer now going elsewhere

By KRS18 on 5/6/2019 at 6:26 PM. Helped by Stephen King.

I have bought several cars from Lokey Mercedes over the years and have had my cars serviced there. Recently, I took my car in to get tires and the mileage was recorded wrong, When I questioned it, I was told it would be corrected but it has been over a month and the mileage still reads wrong on my Carfax. Two weeks after this incident, my SLK with 26,000 miles on it started leaking water through the roof. I was told the entire roof has failed and must be replaced. The cost started at $4k, then went up to $5200, and then I was told the roof was only available in an all-glass version and my car will no longer be a hardtop convertible, but a glass-top convertible. The price is now up to $6900, but I am supposed to feel better about it because MB is going to chip in out of good will and that will reduce my portion to about $5k. I purchased a premium automobile with intentions of keeping it for several years and will have spent about $7k on the car in the past month, and when I get the car back, it won't even look the same. And now I have an odometer issue on top of everything else. Needless to say, I am done with this dealership and done with Mercedes. I could not be any more disappointed.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Disappointed

By MBs550 on 4/16/2019 at 3:48 PM.

Disappointed with the service department and ultimately the sales department. Purchased a certified pre-owned S Class in Aug 2018. Noticed significant break squeaking within the first few weeks of driving it that I did not notice when I purchased the vehicle. Brought the car in - and was told by the service team it was likely the front break pads - which were replaced. The noise continued. Brought the car back - drove with a service person who noted the sound immediately. He says it was coming from the rear brakes. Because they replaced the pads in the front first they are asking I pay to have the rear brake pads/rotors replaced. My issues is if this was identified correctly the first time I would not have had the front pads replaced. Further I would not have purchased this car had I noticed this issue prior to signing the papers. The fact that I noticed it within weeks of having the car tells me it existed prior to purchasing this car. I unfortunately did not notice it. If looking for certified pre-owned would use another dealer in Tampa.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Lady car buyers....beware. This review is for you.

By River Song archaeologist on 1/6/2019 at 12:15 AM. Helped by Dan Zoda.

This review and advice is really aimed at women buyers!! Lokey listed a used Miata for sale on AutoTrader and I made the price inquiry. I received a response the car was $6,400 from the internet advert manager on Dec 30th afternoon. Then there's an email from a salesman saying the price is $6,258 on Sunday later same afternoon. Ok..I'll take the ride from Sarasota to look. While I'm driving on the way up Monday, another email from the internet advert manager came in (I saw later that evening) stating the price was LOWERED again to now $6,000. I will be the first to say how pleasant everyone was to me while I was there on both visits. I saw the car, liked it and started the paperwork - took about 3 1/2 hours to get it done as I had to wait for the sales manager to finish up with others (whom I did not see on the floor). If I had seen the two previous emails, I would have questioned why the leading line - price of the vehicle - was $6,400, not the $6,000 sent at 1:50 pm (at 2:54 - I texted home just arrived). I was allowed $500 for my trade-in after they evaluated it,(Edmunds book came in little over $1,200) against the same year and model as the Miata I was purchasing. So by jacking the price back up to $6,400, I was really not given $500 for my trade-in. When I saw the price changes on the emails that evening, I returned Wednesday to request a refund of $428.00 to match the price directly advertised to me via email. It was refused by the sales manager who said they'd probably lose money on my trade-in car with transportation etc to auction. Best I could do was have a burnt out backup light replaced and the battery cable that popped off the post twice tightened. I realize they are NOT a Mazda dealership, they are wholesaling the car off with some profit, but I don't appreciate feeling/being ripped off $428. I was offered a rewrite on the paperwork for $6,000 plus incidentals ($995 for "pre-delivery charge" with a burnt-out backup light that should have been fixed for that?) showing my car was traded for $100. Or I could have my trade-in back. Well, I can't drive two cars at once, it has two areas starting to rust bubble and 125,000 miles compared to 21,000, so it was logical to sit back and remember 'the house always wins'. So when all said and done, ladies (and everyone else) keep your eyes open when dealing with three people giving you different prices for the same automobile, check your texts frequently when dealing with them, and watch your wallet with regards to their fuzzy math.

Committed to a price then put a thousands of dollars higher price on the purchase agreement to be signed. When questioned about it they stated “this is the new price based on market conditions. Buy it at this price or don’t.” Extremely shading, avoid this dealership.

Service department/mechanics need improvement

By JustSayNo on 7/28/2018 at 5:07 AM. Helped by None List.

If you want a dealer that tells you your car needs stuff done when it actually does not, then go to Lokey Mercedes. Never before have I had a dealer tell me that I needed new air filters only because "I didn't have the car serviced at that dealership". The "mechanic" didn't even bother looking at the air filters, he just wrote that he recommends they get changed. If he actually LOOKED at the filters, he would see they were clean since they were just replaced 3 weeks ago. He would also see that the oil change was replaced 3 weeks ago, too, per the sticker from the other shop I go to. This is a dealership that completely relies on what the MBENZ scanner says, versus actually looking at the problem the customer has. I will never return here again. Crown Euro provides better service and actually fixes things that need to be fixed.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Lokey Team

By Linda and John on 4/17/2018 at 5:01 PM.

Lokey Motor Company has quite an impressive team of men and women to meet all your needs. First of all, we needed help with shipping our BMW to our daughter in St. Louis. Bill Gilkes was a huge help in that regard. John Sauer, our excellent sales person, saw that the new Mercedes GLC 300 had everything that I wanted. This includes a difficult color combination that was hard to find. He did it all with style, grace, and in a timely manner. Last comes Tanya McKenney. She did the difficult task of teaching me how to use all the features and internet capabilities of the SUV. Her patience was beyond reproach. She left me with call me anytime if you are having difficulties. We would highly recommend using Lokey Motor Company and John Sauer for your next vehicle purchase. Sincerely, John and Linda Day

My complete sales experience was amazing from Jason Good to Karen Williams and John Sauer. Every detail was covered with all my questions answered and I asked a lot! No one ever seemed annoyed and was more than happy to help and make sure my transaction and delivery were to my satisfaction. Good customer service is almost non-existent anymore, not only was this customer service good, is was stellar in all aspects. I would recommend Lokey time and and time again and many thanks to the team of Jason, John and Karen for making my experience unforgettable.

No Customer Loyalty

By Bnice1969 on 2/28/2018 at 11:42 PM.

I had a bill of sale to buy a vehicle and offered to give a deposit because I knew this was a good deal. I called to confirm the sale only to find out that it was sold right from under me. No communication that this had even happened and a total waste of my time. I had dealt with Frank Harris. He was very unprofessional, total lack of communication, and very uncourteous.(I. e., not even the respect of a phone call to tell me what happened). The bottom line is that money first and customers last. If they only need to rely on new customers they will do well. Do yourself a favor a find another dealership.

......like a bad dream......sales tactics you wouldnt expect

By Mark S and Terry C on 2/15/2018 at 3:57 PM. Helped by Charlie Mohr , Paul Brown.

BUYER BEWARE!!! I have to admit I was really caught off guard and shocked at the shady sales tactics and absolutely horrible customer service I recently experienced at Lokey Motor sales. Lokey Motors claims they are 100% dedicated to providing a no pressure, hassle-free Mercedes-Benz retail buying experience for all customes....well the reality was quite different from that when my partner and I attempted to purchase a pre-owned vehicle recently. We had been looking around for a while when my partner, Terry Cosden, spoke to a sales rep about a 2011 Mercedes C-class they had listed for sale. Terry spoke with Mr. Paul Brown, a sales agent, on Feb 5th about the vehicle which they had listed for $11,800.00. After speaking with Mr. Brown several times about the car Terry asked him if they would take an offer of 10,300 for the vehicle and told him our offer would have to include everything and be an "out the door" price at that was all we had to spend at the time. Mr. Brown stated he would need to consult with his manager, Mr. Charlie Mohr, to see if that offer could be accepted. After speaking to his boss, Mr. Brown called Terry back and said they would take that offer and to come on over to the dealership. We didnt make it that day but we planned on going a few days later on Friday, Feb.9th. I told Terry before we got in the car to go meet Mr. Brown at Lokey, to please just first call him back one more time and confirm that they were willing to accept our offer of $10,300.00 (we were prepared to pay cash on the spot) so that we didn't waste an hours worth of driving if they werent going to accept it. Well Mr. Brown again confirmed they would and told Terry "come on down and lets get you in that car". When we arrived we were met by another sales rep, Mr. Rick Brandstetter, who stated the car was not available for that price and that the sales rep Terry made arrangements with was not there but said he could show us another vehicle "more in our price range", which they had pulled up front for us to see prior to us arriving which we had no interest in. So it seemed apparent to us they had no intention of honoring the offer we had made them and they knew that when they told us to come on down, in an apparent bait and switch type shady tactic to get us on site and attempt to sell us another car we had no interest in. Not the way a customer would expect to be treated at a Mercedes Dealer. And if we thought the sales manager would work this out we were out of luck. He proceeds to tell us the car we were interested in was a beautiful car and so nice that there was no way that he could let the car go for our 10,300 offer because it was a 14,000 vehicle. Apparently he was unaware that his dealership had it listed for 11,800. So the sales manager , Charlie Mohr ,has 2 very upset and disappointed customers who feel that they were at the very least misled into believing they could get the car for the amount they offered. So what does Mr. Mohr do? He so graciously and smugly informs us he would sell us the car for the exact same amount they had it listed for online or to put it another way he would let us purchase the car for the same price that they would offer any Joe blow walking in off the street. Gee how generous. It must just have been Lokey motors way of showing their reputation for outstanding customer service!! Well , if that was the case Terry and I thought they failed miserably. Two very unhappy and unsatisfied potentional customers, Mark Stottlemyer and Terry Cosden Tampa, Florida

I would not recommend this dealer.

Condescending & Calls people a liar

By Ross Berling on 11/1/2017 at 7:49 PM.

Worked with Rick on a used CPO Mercedes. Thought he was going to be straight shooter and easy to deal with salesperson, until we showed up on the lot. Started talking about the car and pricing and he became combative about if they could do any better on the price and I came from 1:30 away for this car, so I was really trying to go home with the car. When we asked about a possible discount if we purchased this used vehicle for my MIL and then a new GLS 450 for my wife if there was anything better they could do on the price. He said "what do you mean anything we can do? Why would we do any better?" Well I dont know Rick....maybe because we are purchasing another $80k car from you and that there may be incentive to work together. He then proceeded to trump his own rudeness in relation to the other deal we were deciding about by saying "And honestly, I don't believe that you even have another deal or that the other deal exists at all." So I handed the keys to the used car back to him and said we wont be purchasing this car from you since you have decided to question our integrity and call me a liar. I had already offered to show them the sales sheet for proof in order to negotiate the deal. As we were walking to our car he proceeded to yell that he didnt call us a liar, just that he didn't believe there was another deal. I have never been spoken to by another Mercedes dealer or any car dealer before like that. So great job Rick on your sales technique...it only solidified me purchasing from MB of Wesley Chapel!
