Trade in appraisal

I was to see them on January 16 with my 2008 Rav 4 Sport, which is in good condition and has just 182k on it. Black in colour, tinted windows and moonroof. I am the second owner and according to Carproof, there have been no accidents with the vehicle. There are a few minor bumps on it, but simple and easy to fix, especially for a dealership. My vehicle is well maintained, and I had all my records etc. Also, the windshield needs to be replaced, but again not much off their overhead to do. I was not looking for more than 5500.00 for the trade, and was considering an as is 2005 Matrix. The manager who appraised my vehicle offered me 2000.00. He was so very arrogant and would not consider offering more. I said, thanks, but I will keep the car. I am certain that it would have went on the lot in the 9500.00 range. Swindlers. The young sales rep was a great fella though, but the manager, sheesh.

Arrogant, dishonest, incompetent

My Toyota Corolla is a lemon car. Everything on that car is wrong; it is either not working at all or not working properly, Brought the car into the service numerous times. Every time they gave me "explanations" and advice but never fixed the problem. Because they do not know what causes the constant vibration or they do not want to fix it, waiting for the warranty to expire and then charge me big $$$ Last time I brought the car into service to replace the clutch cylinder ( by the way, a clutch made of plastic!!!) the windshield got cracked. The Dealer tried to convince me that I brought the car in with the windshield already cracked and they did not do anything to cause it. Really, they just looked at the glass and it cracked?? I asked the Dealer to replace the windshield at their cost because it happened while the car was with them. They made me wait about two months only to tell me that as a gesture of goodwill, I have to pay $2 to have the windshield replaced. Why would I pay for it? Why don't they just admit that the car was mishandled, take responsibility and end the game! All staff at Mendes Toyota is arrogant, they treat you like you are there to ruin their day. I owned six cars but none was as bad as this Toyota Corolla! I would not recommend the car, I would not recommend the brand and I would not recommend the Dealer!

WORST CAR DEALER EVER

Reading the reviews, I am pretty sure that the good reviews on this site for this dealer are completely fake and made by them. The worst treatment ever I received by a sales person and the sale manager, they are still using 20th century tactics, let me go talk the manager, 10 mn waiting, hidden fee's, rudeness, making you feel that you owe them something and they are doing you a favor selling you a car, the sale manager told me " if you do not change your attitude I am not selling you the car" I told him actually " if he does not change his attitude I am not buying a car, because I am the one paying his salary not the opposite. To show you how bad it is, he offered my wife to come back next day without me and he will give her a 2000$ rebate and we refused...just think about that....

WORST EXPERIENCE

Horrible Horrible experience, tried to buy a car from them and apparently these people are under the impression that they are doing you a favor by accepting to sell you a car. Extremely rude attitude and lying to their teeth. I just wonder what kind of service they offer after you buy a car, I do not want to picture that. They posted a car at 9989$, I went and talked to a sales person and she checked the price was 9989$, this was at 4p, I checked the car it was in the process of being cleaned. Brought my wife next day at 10am and was told that the price now is 10989$ and the sales manager told me bluntly that he can fix what ever price he want but he is going to make me a favor and honor the price printed from yesterday, yes he is making me a favor.....I asked what else in the price and was told 9989$ plus taxes plus plate fees and NO NEGOTIAON price is firm since they made me a favor for 1000$. After trying the car and agreed to buy it, they came with an invoice with 9989$ plus taxes plus plates fees plus 400$ maintenance fee and 490$ security fees. I asked what is that and Massoud told me that is mandatory and I have to pay them, I told him NO it is not mandatory and i will buy the car only if he take those away, he said NO and i said ok I am not buying the car, so the nice sales person mr massoud told me that I am rude, impolite and arrogant and this is a negotiation and we might agree on the price if we negotiate, I told him as you told me at the begging yourself, there is no negotiation and the price is firm, The sale manager was also so nice and polite he kept reminding me about the big favor he made me to honor his price from yesterday and that I was not nice to recognise his huge favor for 1000$.

I would not recommend this dealer.

the worst dealer I have ever met

If there is an option of 0 star, I will give 0. Leased a new car and given 3 free car wash voucher per year for 5yrs. Made an appointment last week and go for it for the first free wash today. Service asked to stay for 3 hours and wait for the External wash only service. If this is how your service works, we will not even pay you for the maintenance. We donot have any this kind of experience with other dealers. will not go back for any service

Promises but don't deliver

WORST AUTO SALES! Used to have better customer service when they were at the old location across the street. From sales people to managers, all do nothing but LIE and LIE! They tell you that they have a car proof and that the car was never in an accident but they don't disclose that the car was in a bad shape and they covered it up and did a quick paint on it. You get to find that out later as the new paint starts to wear off and the rust comes through, then you will find out that it had a cheap coat of paint. When I asked the salesperson and the sales manager why there is a paint over-spray they pretended that they do not know and that is how the car was when they took it on a trade. They will tell you that they will do their best to take care of the problem. NEVER TRUST MENDES AGAIN. Once you're out of the door, customer service comes to an end. They tell you, DON'T WORRY, GIVE US FEW DAYS, They promise but do not deliver. The place has the most unprofessional business ethics. All you get from this place is nothing but promises, promises they don’t keep. BEWARE. Buying from them is nothing but NIGHTMARE.

I am a senior, was interested I purchasing a new car. I drove my last Corolla for 11 years w/o any problems. I bought a new Corolla from the fabulous staff at Mendes. I thank Chris and Dave for the professional and knowledgeable service that they provided. No pressure sales talk, just provided options which helped me make my ultimate decision. They atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. I assume this atmosphere must extend to service, etc. Thanks for making my "new car" buying a fun experience"

Untrained Service Advisors and Incomplete & Slow Service

Many of the Service Advisors are inexperienced and very slow at their job. The Service Advisors all follow a "script" but they don't know much about cars - it is like being served by a clerk, not someone who knows about cars. Go somewhere else if you can! I have had to take my 2016 in twice for the same issue - they did not check that everything was working properly after they repaired my power tailgate. No apologies and very little respect for my time.

Part department never gives you a call back.

I've ordered and paid for a touch-up pen for my car about two weeks ago. They said they will call me back as soon as they get it. But since I haven't heard anything from them, I called them back to check what's going on with my order. Then they said "Oh we have it. Come pick it up anytime." with no apology for not calling me back.(I was waiting for the word. LOL) Yup. I guess they don't care since they got the money? Or because it's just a $15 pen? I'm so disappointed. I've purchased two cars (both Toyota Rav4) from them. But now I'm about to lose my loyalty.

Picked up new 4runner and had my 07 Explorer front end fixed

We just picked up a new 2016 4 runner for my wife and left Mendez Motors my 2007 Explorer to fix the front end (rods, ball joints, tie rods). They gave me an estimate and honored even though several parts had seized and took longer. They have always done great work for all of the vehicles I have brought there. Service desk person was also very courteous.

Continuing Great Service

I bought a new Yaris in 2009 from Mendes Toyota, and inteact with the staff regularly when I take my car in for maitenance, etc. . Aside from the standard care one would expect, they have frequently completed additional work for no charge, and without me asking. I would (and do) recommend Mendes to anyone planning on buying a car, for their friendly and professional service, and because they consistently go above and beyond what is required. I am a very satisfied customer!

I have been buying cars from Mendes for over 15 years and I was very satisfied with the services they were offering. But I agree with some of the other reviewers, I have also noticed a tremendous increase in the amount of "recommendations" since they moved to their new building. I am seriously considering going to a different dealership.

Misguided policies

My 86 year old father reluctantly returned to Mendes Toyota to service his 2006 Corolla to check the front end where Mendes service indicated that front wheel bearings ended replacement. When the car was returned, after fixing the wheel bearings now the front brakes were significantly vibrating upon braking. So thing that should have been quite evident on any drive test. Rather than notify my father, they simply returned the car to him....."to see if he would notice". Not surprisingly, he immediately noticed and returned to have them look at it again. He waited a week and they discovered the front rotors needed to be replaced My father asked me to intervene and confirm what was required. When I called I told the dealership that I wanted to pay for the rotor replace,net for my dad. I was informed that I could not. Against their policies to pay over the phone by credit. I called back to speak to the service manager who reiterated the misguided policy and then informed me that further, I was not allowed to authorize the rotor replacement for my father. The service manager then had the best line......I'm not trying to be difficult. Well, yes you are. You won't let me pay for the work being done to my father's car, nor will you let me authorize the work on his behalf. My father won't be back for service and I whole heartedly endorse that position.

Charged for repairs not done

We were traveling across Canada and had a door handle sticking, was under warranty repair. They tried to fix it, took it back a day later and they 'replaced it' - at least it says that on the bill. Left Ottawa and continued traveling. The door handle started sticking within a week. On the subsequent warranty tune up, told the dealer that it had been replaced in Ottawa. Upon checking, the dealer said that it had been 'braised', and was not a new part. The invoice says that the Ottawa dealership replaced the handle, yet they obviously didn't. Had I lived in Ottawa, I would have gone directly back to the dealership. This is a case of fraudulent repairs but as a visitor I haven't got the energy to complain long distance.

I would not recommend this dealer.
