Sold me a trashy car got check engine light a day after

Financed a pathfinder 2014, 02-13-19 , got a check engine light 02-14-19 Took it for service on a tuesday but told me to come back because service closed at 4pm , here i come in on a wednsday ,they tell me to leave the truck there to be checked , the guy that was in service had already checked and said it was the fuel pump , so that is an expensive part that we dont want to pay for since we only have a 3 month warranty , according to them they will work on it throught out thursday , here i was carless asking people for a ride to get to work but no one comes my way so i had to use uber and after work my husband had to drive from his job in shorewood to saint charles then from saint charles, one guy had called my husband saying that the truck was almost ready to be picked up on thursday around 4pm, well before heading there and wasting our time he called, well someone told him that the truck wasnt ready and that the part wont be there until maybe saturday but if we wanted to we could go n pick up the truck and take back for service on saturday morning , so here we come on a thursday evening to get the truck ,took it back on a satirday morning around 9 am , i called around 1pm and Adam tells me he was just about to finish and give us a call to go pick it up so ok ,we come get our truck , drive it home and the truck its ok i guess the check engine light its not there anymore , so around 7pm we going out for dinner turned on the truck to warm up, check engine light is back on 🙄😡🤬 , we cant do anything but wait to call them till monday , so here we are again calling them letting them know , just to make short , we took the truck to be checked ,its reading about 4 codes🤬 same code that they had just fixed , the fuel pump " and worstier then that , THE TRANSMISSION!! , WAIT A MINUTE, You sell us a truck that is bad from the transmission since day one , we havent even had these truck for two weeks , we wanted our money back from the downpayment or to trade us the truck for a working car , we are not trying to spend mo ey on a transmission or stay carless withing 3 months of our warranty going out , talked to the manager Marcos , a helpless guy that told us he couldnt do anything for us because of our credit , so wait you gave us a broken truck with no credit but you cant help us to get a car that works ?? He ignored us making us feel like we're nothing, saying that they gifted us by giving us a car because with no credit no one would have given us a car, all we wanted was a working car dont you get it??? We have children and need a car to provide for a family just like you thiefs do 😡 so according to them the transmission code is because they believe since the last person that owned these truck had a remote starter stalled in somewhere else it might be the cause for these check engine light, RPM rises up so high , gasoline goes out i could be pumping $20 daily just to go from montgomery to saint charles , and all these is just because of the remote starter, so thinking these people will fix my truck they tell me to drop it off on wednsday so they can work on it on thusrday morning , here i come again to the dealership , i could see all of them laughing becuase we always go in making us feel like we're a bother, the guy from service calls me and tells me he had called nissan and was told to disable the remote starter because they think thats whats causing the check engine light and all these codes , thats my first option or either drive around with the check engine light if it doesnt bother me😂🤣 you have to be kidding me , so i said ,look im trying to figure out whats wrong with my truck , and if my only option is to disable the remote starter then go ahead and do it , i only have 3 months warranty and im pretty sure theyre just waiting on my warranty to go out that way i will have to pay out of my pocket for a garbage car that was broken since day ome, i tried getting help from everyone in these dealership and they just dont give a xxxx, so I made a Report with BBB , Hoping to get an answer soon STAY AWAY FROM MCGRATH NISSAN , By the way the guy that sold me the car by the name of Ruben told me not to go to Nissan in Saint Charles because i ghad told him how i ran an application with them before going to mcgrath nissan, he told me ,STAY AWAY FROM THEM , THEYRE BUNCH OF THIEFS, LIERS" THEY STEAL FROM PEOPLE ,I WORKED FOR THEM BEFORE AND I GOT TIRED OF THEM AND QUIT BECAUSE THEY MADE ME LIE TO PEOPLE BY SELLING THEM BROKEN CARS " THATS WHY I MOVED TO MCGRATH NISSAN!!! I BELIEVE THEY THOUGHT YOU RIGHT BECAUSE YOU KEEP ON DOING THE SAMEEE PEOPLE SATY AWAY FROM THEM

The worst experience ever

The worst customer service ever, I have a 2017 Maxima and I went to that dealer because I moved to Elgin and I needed to fixed a windshield cover, without asking anything the person from the service shop accused me of breaking those covers and try to sell me those covers for $600 instead of applying the bumper to bumper guarantee. Also I ask for a problem on the breaks and he try to charge me $139 just to check what happen . NEVER EVER GOING BACK TO THAT PLACE. I’m going to continue using Nissan products and cars but going back to Gurnee Nissan

Rude and unprofessional sales

McGrath Nissan "Elgin" Sales people are very rude - unprofessional. Selling is not for everyone, they must review the hiring criteria or how the business is being run. I had a call with one of their sales representatives called "Sam", I was asking about 2019 Nissan Altima and told him if that car is available with $XXXX amount of dollars, he said YES, I asked him many times and made sure that I will not drive form more than an hour and he told me YES, just bring your down payment. I got shocked when I arrived their and found that the actual price is higher than we agreed by $6000. He told me that I said YES to let you come :) Most people think sales is easy. It's NOT. He even didn't say "Sorry" !!! They must respect us, we are not kids !

Stay away from service department

Purchased a Nissan at a different location that needed service. Brought it here for service. Accused my husband of damaging "rental" and service department was extremely rude and disrespectful. We have no choice but to pay them. Be careful if you take a rental from them. I know we did not cause this damage and because we took a car covered in snow (our mistake) we now are forced to be taken advantage of. Learned our lesson the hard way. I would stay away from McGrath.

Bad communication

Traveled to the dealership from Rockford and when I got there found out the car I was financed for was sold. I told them I was on my way to get the vehicle but they sold it anyway and didn’t think to communicate that with me while I was on the highway there. So they wasted my time, gas, and tollway money.

Doing it right

I went to the dealership this evening on an internet appointment and met with Matt Velez. He was very knowledgeable and had great customer service skills. He was very direct and transparent. Even though we didn't purchase the vehicle I thought he should be acknowledged because my wife couldn't get passed the interior color.

Easy no pressure.

Mollie McGrath was wonderful when my husband and I stopped in to test out the Pathfinder. Answered all our questions with ease and no push. Explained the vehicle. After we test drove one we fell in love with it. Mollie got us all set up and even called to check on us. Has some confusion with the programing but she got us the answers and even offered to come by our house to help set it up. But after she walked us through we have it programed and my husband and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Mollie we have no problem telling people where to go to get excellent care. Keith Kowalczyk, the general manager, has always been very helpful with getting us into the vehicle we want in the finance range that we wanted. Made A Bad Time a Good Experience

Had to get a new car in January 2015 after a car accident. Nissan, and particularly Mollie, made it an easy experience and quick and fun. Working with Mollie was truly the best customer service I've ever had. Nice atmosphere. The mechanics are also super nice and willing to answer questions.

High prices, low trades, and arrogant sales manager

Went in w a friend to work a deal on a 2015 Rogue. Long story short... Manny, the sales manager was disrespectful, cursed, and showed me where the door was. I said nothing to deserve such derogatory treatment. Went to M'lady Nissan in Crystal Lake and received $1000 better deal on new car and $1700 more on trade in value. Manny shoes no professionalism, and I can understand why their dealership was empty while M'lady had a line 5 or 6 deep for customers to sign paperwork. Don't waste your time at this dealership. In my opinion they try to belittle you then make you you feel like you're unwelcomed. Hey McGrath, go find a new Sales Manager..., I bet you would sell a lot more cars

Refused to acknowledge campaign of recall for fuel gauge

Service department rude and would not listen to the fact that I had letter from Nissan North America INC-- addressed to me with my car, my vin number, my address stating that there was a recall that would be paid for by Nissan for the fuel gauge displaying the wrong amount of fuel. My car ran out of gas due to this same issue as it was showing 77 miles to empty when it ran out of gas. They insisted nothing in their system and would not even look at the mailing or call corporate to see what I was talking about and they would only look at it for service fee of $130 and then I can pay to fix whatever the problem is. UNACCEPTABLE.... No accountability at all on their part.

I would not recommend this dealer.

A great car buying experience

We were in the market for an all wheel drive vehicle to replace our hail damaged (totaled) Nissan Murano. We haul a travel trailer and wanted something with more towing capacity. After test driving several brands our search was narrowed to the Pathfinder or a Ford explorer. We chose the pathfinder because we liked the ride and the amenities it offered. WHY McGrath.... Every dealership we visited, including Woodfield Nisson, were either pushy, or seemed disinterested in our specific needs. (and, apparently our business !). Our McGrath experience was relaxed, un pressured, easy and, relatively quick from start to finish. Our salesman, Tony Bochenek, was nothing short of excellent ! Tony, unlike the other salesmen/dealerships we encountered, was extremely knowledgeable of all the Nisson line and their amenities. He demonstrated several Nisson vehicles that would fit our needs. And, when we decided on the Pathfinder, he made sure we understood every feature it had to offer, including the 5 yrs of free oil changes ( Woodfield offered 3) and free car washes. They, of course, located the exact color and amenity package we desired. The finance manager, in past car buying a long drawn out experience, was a waalk in the park, taking under 1/2 hour. With all the discounts, rebates,and 0% financing included ! Plus, Tony, after the sale, set up the bluetooth for the phone and Pandora as well as the ipod and ipad links and garage door opener. McGrath, and our salesman Tony, made our new car purchase a WONDERFUL experience !
