No interest in customers once you have bought your car.

By Left at the Street on 2/20/2019 at 2:59 PM. Helped by Jaqueline, Ken.

This review deals with their service of my 2017 E Class leased Mercedes. Here is my story: I leased a 2017 E class. I thought Mercedes would stand behind their vehicles, but when the navigation system went down, they handed me back the keys and said it was up to me to open a case with Mercedes Benz USA to get a fix. WRONG! Has anyone every tried to open a case with Mercedes USA when they have nose-tail coverage on the vehicle through the dealer? I am too busy to wait on endless phone queues when the problem belongs to Mercedes and not me. That's why I leased the car from Mercedes in the first place. Also, I tried the phone number they gave me but the number is designed to send you through endless operators and bad music. Oh, did I mention that the number they initially provided me was incorrect. In fact, I don't have an extra life to spend the time dealing with Mercedes' problems. In fact, every Torrance address I gave Mercedes came back "We do not have data" or gave me addresses in Iowa, Ohio or Orange. And none of the addresses even had street numbers. Have any of you ever driven to Iowa trying to get to Torrance without even having the incorrect street address? Of course not. Also, the leased vehicle came with 3 years full Sirius access (data and music) which Sirius said expired after 26 months while I was trying to get my GPS system fixed. Mercedes said I had to deal with Sirius directly, notwithstanding the contract they admitted they had giving me afull 36 months of head to tail coverage. I had to pay Sirius extra fees on top of the written contract I had wth MB of South Bay. It is not too much to ask an MB dealer to stand behind the vehicles they lease. I am a busy businessman. I understand how things work. And I know an evasive scam when I am the scamee! I am more than shocked and upset. I am angry enough to write this review warning each and every reader that MB South Bay won't stand behind its vehicles or protect its loyal customers. Mercedes of South Bay will tell you that service and sales are different profit centers for the company. Big deal. It is the entity as a whole I complain about because the vehicle was leased from and serviced by MB of South Bay. Evading responsibility is not an art form I admire. I will attepmpt to speak with the GM of AutoNation as the company is part of the AutoNation chain. I have zero expectations and too little time to hassle with them. Having no choice but to have a car with functioning GPS (bad eyes mean I can't really read road signs), I had no time and no choice but to lease a new car from the dealer on the spot (one with working navigation) and plan to have it serviced at another a nearby, but more inconventionlently located, dealer. I wish I didn't have to throw more money at them. For the money one pays for a Mercedes, one would expect more by the way of service. Perhaps one day, they will be able to pretend they care about their customers. You never, ever, tell a Mercedes customer that "you have to call Mercedes and open up your own claim." My service advisor was Jacqueline. Service Manager was Ken. Their donuts are quite good, but one expects more from Mercedes. Until then, "Buyers beware." You have been warned. What a great shame! I would recommend this for local residents

By imsam18@yahoo.com on 1/5/2019 at 8:20 PM. Helped by Paul.

This was my first time service my ClS 550 and the overall experience was great. However, due to overcrowded and backed up service car, I did not receive promptly information regarding to my car status. I called 2-3 times just to find out what was the status of my car after 4 hours of waiting. Paul, my service guy was very knowledgeable and he arranged shuttle service for me to make it more convienent. I came from another car dealership in Van Nuys, their service department is way more advanced and the complimentary drinks and snacks have more options comparing to South Bay Mercedes Benz dealership. I wish the service department customers waiting lounge can be more advanced and more selections rather simply proving dounuts to the customers. However, the overall experience is great and I recommend to local residents.

I would recommend this dealer.

Used Cars - Non - Mercedes-Benz Vehicles

By Rich 1331 on 9/9/2018 at 2:06 PM. Helped by Jovan.

If in the market for a non-Mercedes Benz vehicle, steer clear of this dealership. Misinformation regarding the features associated with the vehicle in question led to false expectations. This resulted in a waisted 100 mile round trip drive and 5 hours of a Saturday afternoon for the whole family. This resulted in a disappointing test drive when the vehicle in question had none of the features that were specifically inquired about, when confirmation had been received from the dealership’s salesman the day prior. None of the promisesmade by the salesman were met. We were to contact the salesman when we srarted our drive so the salesman would be available and the car would be prepared and waiting for the test drive. The salesman was never available nd the car was parked in the back of the lot. We were handed off to another representative. When confirmation was received the features in question were not on this vehicle, we met with the sales manager. That resulted in little more than an unheartfelt apology. If you are buying a Non-Mercedes Benz vehicle, you are proceeding at your own risk. You have been forewarned.

I would not recommend this dealer.

MISERABLE EXPERIENCE & WALKED AWAY

By keith on 6/3/2018 at 6:16 PM. Helped by Chris, Danielle.

On our first visit they did not have the key to the vehicle we had made an appointment to see so we could not drive it but since it was unlocked we could only see that the back panel of the driver seat was detached but on the lot as a CPO inspected vehicle. On our second visit we discovered it did not have the backup camera the salesman had declared it had since we were able to drive it. The salesman called and essentially promised if they put a camera as well as may discount the price modestly for our troubles and experience. Nothing was in writing but he said he had 'clout' to get a deal done. On our 3rd visit, we wanted to buy and after giving the 'deal' to his manager, said he couldn't do it but could give us a 24 month 'free' warranty'. We spoke with the manager and she was adamant that was her best deal. We walked and discovered that the 'free warranty' was already a MB promotion so it wasn't like they were doing anything for us...felt seriously misled and the 2 emails we respectfully wrote to the General Manager Gary Pilikyan were never acknowledged or answered. We had a great experience at another deal which i rated 5 stars so we were not 'window shoppers' and actually super happy we didn't put a camera in a car which was not OEM

NO LONGER A GOOD SERVICE CENTER!!!!!

By lotusbbw on 11/11/2017 at 1:54 AM. Helped by unknown.

My husband called to set up a service appointment. The service was for minor service. When he got there at 8 AM the service man told him he would have to leave the car until late afternoon. My husband said he had no way to get home and that he called in advance for an appointment so his car should be ready in a couple of hours. The service man told him that he would call Uber for him. My husband left with his own car and came home. A few days later my husband called again for another appointment. This time the lady making the second appointment told my husband that the service should only take two (2) hours at the most. My husband drove again to the service center and told the service man he had an appointment. Please read above for the out come of this visit (same as first visit). A year ago my husband took his car to this same dealer service center and he was in and out in two (2) hours. The service people were very nice. NOT ANY MORE! I understand that this dealership has new ownership. My husband asked to talk to the General Manager or his assistance and he was told that both of them were unavailable. My husband left. In addition to this, my husband called Mercedes "head quarters' and explained his problem with South bay Mercedes. The gentleman from the head quarters told him to next time "call Uber and that he would call South Bay Mercedes and see if this issue can be corrected for the future and that he would call my husband right back". The service man has not returned the call yet! (three days ago). Maybe they were busy! Save yourself a headache and go to LONG BEACH MERCEDES!

Best car guy

By Just Febé on 12/31/2016 at 2:45 PM. Helped by Morris Lee and Angela.

The best car guy ever is Morris Palmore at Mercedes-Benz of South Bay, in 12 months I've purchased 3 vehicles from him. Morris is honest, extremely friendly, knowlegeable and wants to make the customer happy and confident in the vehicle they're purchasing. I know I'm getting the best possible deal when I buy from Mercedes Benz of South Bay. Everyone there is nice and friendly. If you're looking for a new or used car go to Mercedes-Bemz of South Bay ask for Morris Palmore. This is the only place I will ever purchase a vehicle.

I wish there was a negative one star rating

By Raygun on 10/28/2016 at 5:15 PM. Helped by Dave berry.

My girlfriend had leased her last two Mercedes from this dealership and was quite satisfied, until now. Her lease was ending and she wanted to either buy her car or lease a new one. She was very excited about coming home with a new car on the phone to me. She came home completely deflated. Her sales person was dismissive and completely unhelpful. She was ready to have a look at Audi at this point. I convinced her to let me send a note to the sales manager, Dave Berry, I sent Dave a very detailed message about her experience and that she really wanted to stay with Mercedes. I thought this would get a response and assured her that things would be fine. I was so very wrong. Two weeks later, still no response...from anyone!!! They sell these machines in numerous places around Southern California. They are all the same cars. It's the dealerships that make the difference. Take my advice and take a pass on Mercedes of South Bay. Buyer beware!!

A wasted day for a one-hour transaction!!

By IdahoBuyer on 11/10/2015 at 10:55 PM. Helped by Kevin B. salesman, Mike ? Sales manager, Name Forgotten, F&I guy..

I found the car that I wanted to look at on the internet, and indicated online that I had an interest. Was contacted by salesman (Kevin B.) and set up a time to look at it. (We live in Idaho, were attending a professional meeting in San Diego, and drove to Torrance to look at the car.) I explained to Kevin that I was supposed to pick up a colleague at the airport back in San Diego in mid-afternoon. We arrived at the dealership shortly before noon. Within thirty minutes (at most) we said we wanted the car. We completed the transaction six hours later!!! First, Kevin had to get Person A's approval, then it was Person B that also had to approve it (we were paying the stated price!!) Finally, after about five hours we were introduced to the F&I guy who we told at the outset that we had already wasted far too much time and we were not interested in buying anything else. Still, he spent 45 minutes with us trying to browbeat us into buying something, and we couldn't complete the sale without him signing off on everything! We had visited several dealerships in the San Diego area (many different brands) and we were warmly greeted at each, offered a bottle of water, shown a comfortable waiting room, etc. while we looked over and discussed their inventory. At this place, we were left sitting in the middle of their showroom on hard plastic chairs, (almost as if we were on display: "Look, this is what a couple of suckers look like!!") and finally got a bottle of water when we requested it. (Shortly before we left, I was wandering around the building and came upon the "real" waiting room, with comfortable seating, a TV, etc.) Kevin knew we hadn't had anything for lunch, but kept us hanging around the showroom ("it'll all be done any minute now") well into the dinner hour. He actually went out and got something to eat while we waited! Not a single item on the original terms was changed from the time we made the offer until the time the deal was closed six hours later. I believe that they were hoping to wear us down so we would collapse with the F&I guy and buy something. We kept getting the excuse that they were short on management so it was taking a long time to get things done. I can't believe that any organization could be this rude and inconsiderate by accident! I mean, the whole thing had to be planned in advance to abuse us. When we got to Idaho and tried to title it, nobody at the dealership seemed to have any idea about what had happened and how to get it done (although Kevin assured us that they did sales to out-of-state customers all the time). Fortunately, the Idaho DMV staff took it the extra time and effort required to get them the paperwork so we could get it registered and licensed. To his credit, I guess, Kevin was very friendly and kept in touch (without offering anything of sustenance). Real nice guy. But couldn't get anything done. He did, however, help get the paperwork done and to us so we could register the car in Idaho. To add insult to injury, they offered to pay for the first tank of gas I would buy when the car was delivered (to Idaho) since they couldn't fill it before shipping it. We contacted Kevin, sent him the receipt, he told us that it was being approved and we would get a check soon and....... you guessed it: Nada! I put off printing a review (this will be one of several I hope to be able to post in every place possible on the web) hoping we'd at least get the gas money. Since that hasn't come (we bought the car in January and sent the receipt in in early summer) figured I had nothing to lose. There is absolutely no way I would recommend this dealership to anyone, not even someone I disliked. The lack of service we received and the hassle they put us through was absolutely unexcusible. The place doesn't even deserve one star, but I figured if I just left it all blank, someone might think we just forgot to do that rating.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Didn't order my license plates?

By TL on 2/27/2015 at 11:09 PM. Helped by Kevin Bobek, Alex Villareal.

It's been over two months since I purchased my vehicle and I still have not received license plates yet. Upon contacting the sales rep who assisted me with the sale of the car about 8 weeks after date of purchase, I was told that the issue was being escalated to management. Today (77 days after purchase) I receive this email and responded accordingly. It's not my fault that they have to order duplicate plates nor is it my fault that the registration expiration date is approaching in about a month. Bottom line is that I should have had my plates back in January some time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 27 Feb 2015 22:39:00 +0000 Hi Alex, It's nice to know that someone is taking care of this issue after over two months of waiting. My registration IS current. I have the sticker and registration good until 4/2/15. Today is merely February 27th so I'm not sure what you mean by "it expired on 4/2/15" since that date has not come to pass yet. Please apply for new plates ASAP as this is of no fault of my own. I purchased the vehicle on 12/10/14 and to date I still have no received my license plates yet. I did my due diligence at the dealership and paid for license and registration but have only received the registration but no license plates. Just to let you know I bought a car two weeks ago at Tustin Toyota for my parents and already received the plates for that car on Tuesday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: VILLARREALA1 To: CC: DELAROSAJ1; GottschlingS Subject: plates Date: Fri, 27 Feb 2015 22:34:07 +0000 We will be more than happy to apply for dup plates , however we can not do so until your registration is current. It expired on 4/02/2015 At the time of purchase we collected from you $311.00 which covered through 4/02/2015 , you will need to renew your registration first. Please contact us once this has been renewed and we will apply for new plates Thank you Alex Villarreal DMV Administrator

Completely Incompetant - GM of Dealership

By LA Kerri on 12/31/2014 at 7:01 AM. Helped by all stated above.

Complete Liars....Agreed and Pre-Negotiated a lease to sign in-person after 3 days on the phone and in emails.Completed part of the paperwork over email, completed credit reports with flying colors and all agreed $$ amounts were both verbal and on email with the Sales Manager. Car was agreed to arrive on a Saturday for a home delivery, along with all with paperwork to sign (common practice with them) and they tell me the car broke down on the way to my house?? xxx!@# A new 2015 Mercedes breaks down? No calls to follow-up afterwards, no resolution offered and 2 days left to take advantage of a manufacture deal that would end. Tim Muzykat the GM of the Dealership was a xxxxxx bag and completely unprofessional who didn't return calls or direct emails. He was the first person alerted about the situation and knew of the situation (emails were read by him and received by a return receipt ). IF that is acceptable Management practices of a large Dealership, the owners should really rethink who is in charge. Totally unprofessional, unethical and liars. Referred by family members and friends who have leased with this dealership. All will take their business elsewhere and are warned about my treatment. Anyone dealing with a dealership that has lacks ethics, should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. All that needed to be done in this case, was to not sell the car to me and not commit ahead of time to the price agreed upon. Instead, I was treated like a complete fool and dispensable. Lucky for me, I am no fool and got the car elsewhere. The reason for sharing with the public, is that you should RUN LIKE THE WIND, doing business with Shady Car Salespeople without morals!!!

awful experience

By Sam Gray on 9/29/2014 at 4:22 AM. Helped by Luke Girgis.

visited today to trade in my Q7 for a GL after owning a C350 for couple of years , spent 3 hours between my car appraisal , test drive , papers processing credit check and long wait between every transaction and once everything was finalize including payment and price and all agreed on , the sale man audaciously approached me and told me that he can't sell me the car because the car was requested by another dealer for a CEO !! felt disappointed and discriminated !! If the car was requested by another dealer , the car should have been removed from the system so it won't be available for customers !! that's the common sense of business , but apparently the manager who insisted on sending the car to the other dealer without mentioning that on the system has no sense for the business or the customer care !! I will never go back to that dealer again and i would let everyone know about their negligence toward the customer !! what waste of time !!and what terrible experience !!

I would not recommend this dealer.
