Smooth and easy purchase!

We went in curious about the Subaru Outback and Tina (Christina Szontagh) made our time at Berman really enjoyable. She showed us a few cars and asked if we she could tell us more about the car. I wanted to know more, but I saw that question as a sign that Tina would not be pushy or aggressive with us. I know that I could've said "no" and she would've listened. She highlighted some of her favorite aspects about the Outback, all things that I wouldn't have asked about. She made the viewing really interesting and gave us a lot to consider. When we found the car that suited us best, she gave us a great deal and was really easy to work with. When I texted her my questions, she got back to me quickly. When it came time to decide on specifics about our purchase, warranties, etc, Tina was not pushy at all. She was very receptive to us and just made the whole process easy and smooth! Hopefully, we won't be in the market for a new car for a long while, but when we are, I'm looking forward to working with Tina again. Thanks for a great experience, Tina!

Couldn't Have Asked for a Better Experience!

Berman Subaru really blew me away. From start to finish, everyone I dealt with was professional, courteous, and fair. Not only was their price the best among the dealerships I visited, they were also the most transparent about their pricing. I purchased the car through the Costco Auto program. Costco connected me to two Subaru dealerships in my area, Berman and one other. Within 15 minutes of asking Costco to connect me to the two dealerships, Berman Subaru sent me an email with full pricing info (including accessories the specific car would come with). Upon coming in to purchase the car, our salesperson Xavier and the new car sales manager Glenn were top notch. Professional, courteous and both Xavier and Glenn continued Berman's trend of transparency. The other dealership in the Costco program did not. In fact, the other dealership lived up to the old "sleazy car salesman" stereotype. They wouldn't email me a price. They wouldn't give me a price over the phone. They made me come in. Then, once I was in, they still were not forthcoming with the price as the Costco Auto program requires, and kept me at the dealership for much too long before finally giving me a price (nearly illegibly scribbled on a blank sheet of printer paper with a felt tip marker). I won't name this dealership - if you want a great car buying experience, just buy your Subaru from Berman. And, when there was an issue with my car, Berman excelled again. The general manager, Joe D'Andrea, reached out to me on his own to find out what was going on. From that moment forward, Joe was more hands on than I could have ever imagined a general manager would be. He was friendly, accessible, and always returned my calls promptly if unable to answer when I called. But, friendliness, accessibility and returned phone calls only go so far. In the end, its all about the resolution - and the way Joe resolved my issue made me a Berman customer for life. What could have been a nightmare scenario at another dealership was anything but when dealing with Joe and Berman. To say Joe and this dealership went above and beyond is an understatement. Knowing what I know now, I would have bought my Subaru from Berman even if their price was several thousand dollars more expensive than the competition (which it wasn't, their price was also the best) because I know that, in the event something went wrong, they would resolve it beyond satisfaction - and that is invaluable! Thanks to Joe D'Andrea and the whole Berman Subaru team! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Best experience EVER

I have been a part of many car sales. Each and every one has been stressful and disappointing up until the end. This was NOT the case at Berman. Hands down- best experience purchasing a beautiful car that I’ve ever had from start to finish. Dan was funny and informative and cared about what I had to say and needed. The car I looked at and bought was pristine. This dealership cares about the cars they present- and therefore their customers. I will always bring my business here. They care about my business and their cars.

I recently bought a 2019 used Subaru WRX premium and I worked with Bart in sales. Bart did a great job to make this deal go through without much hassles. He worked with me on the numbers via text/call and made sure I received the necessary paper work to get the check from the financial institution. He did everything he promised and in the end he had a happy customer :) Thank you Bart! I also worked with Jake from finance and most of the stuff was done over one phone call. He went through a couple of extended warranty plans which I was not interested and he wasn't pushy at all which was surprising (because its a rarity) in a happy way. Berman's has great employees who are really professional, just explain about the products you have with clarity and let the customer make the decision which is what Bart and Jake did. I will definitely recommend Berman's Subaru to my Friends and Family. Thank you, SK

Great Salesman I worked with, Terrible Manager I worked with

I was to purchase a Subaru Ascent. The car salesman I was working with was great, however when negotiating he had to get approval from his manager. The manager I had to deal with was Dan D'Andrea… Here's my issue with Dan. I was already paying above the average for the car, and this manager would not budge. -So I came up half way to his figure, and he still wouldn't budge. -So I came up again to within $100 of his figure and he still wouldn't budge. Now what's $100 to a company for a car that's $45,000? Nothing! But this manager just didn't want to let me win a thing. -So I came up to within $25 of his price (just below his offer, so I can feel like I've won something)! He rejected! So I ask now, what's $25 to a company for a car that's $45,000? Nothing!! Why would he not budge $25?? I walked out. I felt bad for the salesman that the manager he had to work with at the time would let him lose a sale over $25; but I had to walk away based on principle. Later, the salesmans' colleagues talked the manager into agreeing to my offer of $25 less, so as not to lose the deal over silly non-sense. So based on this experience, would I recommend Berman Subaru? Of course not! Who would want that kind of experience?

Overall a Great Experience

I had a very positive experience at this dealership. I am not a car person, but my salesman, Bart, made me feel comfortable buying my car. They were short staffed the day we made our appointment so we didn’t end up leaving until after 10pm, but Bart consistently checked up on us and offered many amenities for us. The lot to do the test drive in was terribly cramped beyond capacity and you felt like you were going to hit a car on the turns. The only downside about our purchase was that Bart never mentioned that we could extent the bumper to bumper warranty and I did not find out until I met with the finance department; I was pushed towards purchasing Subaru’s additinal protective warranties instead of discussing my car’s extended warranty so I ended up paying more than I intended. Although, Bart and Luke from financing recognized my budget and gave me some discounts on some warranties, which helped greatly. All in all it was a good purchase and experience.

The dealership tries to go above and beyond. I had a bad experience there, however Joe the GM has really bent over backwards to try and right the wrong. I will update this more once everything has been resolved. As of right now I’m feeling hopeful.

i was helped by a gentleman named Xavier Miller. He was helpful by answering all my questions and getting my into a car i wanted at a reasonable price. He helped my set up my phone and waze for the Subaru and gave me tips while driving/using a Subaru! Would highly recommend!

Nik Fischer was awesome to work with! Very knowledgeable, not pushy, and responsive to our needs. He personally drove the car out to my workplace when it was ready. Bought a 2012 Subaru Impreza hatchback and am very happy with the car and experience. Looking forward to free car washes and other good service from Berman as a car owner.

Purchase of 2018 Subaru Outback Limited

Joe Estafanous greeted me, was extremely professional and was very patient with all the questions I had. I ended up test driving a Subaru Outback Limited. What a beautiful car. The sales reps were extremely busy on the day I came in and Joe treated me like I was the only one in the store. I ended up buying the 2018 Subaru Outback Limited. Even after the sale of the car, Joe took time to explain all the bells and whistles and gadgets on the car and was in no rush to send me on my way. Thank you so much that meant a lot to me. I would highly recommend Joe Estafanous and his management team. If anyone wants a positive experience buying a car - Berman Subaru of Chicago is the place to go. First Time Leaser

Had a great experience with Xavier Miller, he was very knowledgeable on the Suburu Outback and extremely patient when dealing with myself and family (we brought two young children with). I would recommend anyone nervous about buying for the first time to give Berman Suburu a chance and they will take care of you.

Refusal to make warranty repairs

On July 17, 2018, my 2018 Subaru outback suffered complete breakdown of all electronic systems. Every trouble light on the dashboard lit up: check engine, eyesight, blind spot, cruise control, stability control, etc. The fault persisted for about 8 hours but disappeared the following day. On 7/24/18 this dealership refused even to try to make any repairs on the pretext that it would not be reimbursed by Subaru unless a fault was constantly detectable. (Several weeks later, a Subaru dealership in Colorado did make a repair based on a TSB describing precisely this type of occurrence.). Berman Subaru flatly refused to honor Subaru’s warranty, dispalying a level of contempt for its customers I have rarely seen equaled, never surpassed. I strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere.
