Hidden fees, promises made but not kept, no follow-up

We looked for a specific used car and purchased it from North Edmonton Kia. Used is the key word here. We had tried over 7 different vehicles, but they don't make this model any more, so it was a used vehicle. Every single dealership that we spoke to charged for the vehicle and GST, nothing else. But at North Edmonton Kia they dinged us an extra $499 for services and options that we didn't want, need, or were already part of the vehicle. We looked at the original quote that Chris S sent us and saw the price + GST, but nothing about the extra $499. We drove in from out of Edmonton to purchase this vehicle, we are not going to drive to North Edmonton Kia for an oil change, duh. We paid $499 extra so that we could sign that we declined all the extras.  Unpleasant surprise.  To be clear, the extras were services in Edmonton.  We live in Calgary, driving for service to Edmonton is not reasonable.  We stated this when we declined, but are still frosted about this extra. We were also promised 2 keys. But, that didn't happen, so now we're out nearly $500 to buy another key because our key has to be programmed. Since we were told that there were 2 keys we bought a steering wheel lock in case the other key showed up, another extra that we had to do because of the bad communication. We bought the car because it was odourless, but it wasn't - they cleaned it with Armour All,, I know because I slid on it, it was wet and slick when we got into the car to leave. We had to leave the car to air out because it stunk so badly.  It  stunk on the drive back. Both Chris and I had mentioned reactive airways and the reason we needed a no scent car. Thoughtless, non-responsive, unnecessary extra and hidden fees; I would never recommend this dealership.

Great Experience

Sales team will never leave you alone

If you want to be harassed by their sales team for years to come then buy here. I have received relentless phone calls and text messages over a five year period from the sales office despite speaking with multiple managers and demanding that they don't contact me. ~6 ms ago I was contacted and had the same discussion and was told they were under new management and would absolutely not contact me again. Then 3 months ago same story. Just got off the phone with yet another manager being told this would be the absolute last time. I like my car but I will never buy kia again after this experience. If you really want a kia try a different dealership.

Great experience buying and service

Just bought a 2020 kia soul lunar orange ex premium a couple days ago. Had a great buying experience with our salesman David. Went in about 1030am with no appointment and walked out by 230 with a new car. We also took my 2014 kia Optima hybrid to get serviced and had great exprience. Would definetly recommend the dealer and David.

Over and Above Expectations

Bringing any child to go vehicle shopping can be challenging at the best of times. Jason went over and above and provided pizza (my kid's favourite) while we waited for paperwork to be completed; not to mention setting her up on the free wifi so she could watch her videos! He had answers to all of my questions and was extremely pleasant to deal with. Logan in Finance was very knowledgeable and efficient at what he does - he provided me with the best deal that was within my price range. He knows his numbers and was able to make things work for me. I could not have asked for a better experience with Kia North Edmonton.

Poor experience

Purchased a used 2018 vehicle with 17,000 Km and took delivery on April 1, 2019. Since then I have only been able to drive the vehicle once and it has been in the shop now for 26 days. First the starter seized up. Then the dash lights stopped working. And finally the sunroof motor stopped working. Still waiting for parts to fix that problem. The problem was likely someone (perhaps at this dealership) trying to boost it at some point and did it wrong which has fried the entire electrical system. All these issues were covered under another manufacturers warranty. But after all of this I found out that the second key that was provided with my vehicle was not for my vehicle. It was the same key but for another vehicle. Finally went in to speak to a manager today who essentially said that it is not their responsibility to provide a second key for a used car and they do not check to see if the second key works anyway. Regret buying this vehicle. Regret buying it from this dealership. Would not recommend. Shop around there are many other dealerships out there.

If your considering buying from North Edmonton Kia, do yourself a huge favour and go elsewhere. You’ll save a lot of time, cash and headache. Absolutely horrible to deal with. Lesson learned. Once the deal is done your nothing but money in their pockets. They got what they want, in the end that’s all that matters!

False advertising.

Disappointed. Last week, I went to buy transmission fluid at the parts department. They did not honor the displayed price in the display case. Instead he took the price off behind the glass cabinet and said it was an old price and would not sell it to me at the displayed price. Just lost a future customer. My next KIA will NOT be purchased at North Edmonton KIA. Will not recommend to others either.

My purchase experience today was very professional and friendly. There was no pressure from the staff and everything went smoothly and in a timely manner. Sales manager Darren Shaw did everything possible to make the deal I needed to happen. Product advisor David Edmondson showed and explained all my questions and concerns that I wanted to know. Finance manager Logan Macdonald did what he had to to make things work. Thanks again Kia North Edmonton, will recommend you store to people looking to purchase a vehicle.

I would have to say i had the best experience a person could possibly expect purchasing a vehicle. Kris simons was on the ball with everything i needed had sn snswer to all my questions and had us laughing from the moment we walked in. I referred one of my relative last year. then they told me i would get 500 once the deal will go through. The deal went through BUT what happened was they gave me 250 only instead of 500. Reason, (the GM said) We’d lost the deal for over 1000. Yah right! it wasn’t my fault anymore! No word of mouth! Do not refer your friends or relatives to this dealership! Kia north edmonton. Dirty tactics!

The shuttle driver

This is not in regards to Hartley. It’s in regard to the early morning driver. ( I think his names zachariah) Today another customer and I were in the van. Driver asked if we were in a rush we said no. We agreed to drop me off first. 40st 134 ave area. Other customer needed nait. We were driving down 137 ave when we were approaching 113a st. I realized it’s faster to drop the other customer off first. Then me. Then driver can take 137 ave back. So I piped up and said “actually if u turn right here (113a st) you can get to nait in roughly 8 minutes” ..... driver says “no id have to take yellowhead” first off who cares if you need to jump on the yellowhead. Either way I said “no you take a left onto 127 ave and a right onto 97 st and bam naits straight ahead” well, I’m not sure I even got my whole sentence out before the driver says with a slightly raised tone of voice “I was a cab driver and shuttle driver for many years my whole life. I know” I said “but it’s literally right there...” he said “no your wrong it’s not”......... I said “okay. that’s fine my dear.....” and we continued to my home. Well I live in a town home complex... so when we approached the complex, driver asks me “do I pull in here?” I responded with “well i don’t know you were a driver for many years your whole life you said shouldn’t you know?” He laughed in annoyance to my comment and said “ok” I said “next time don’t be a smart a** it’s rude and uncalled for” driver says in a loud and angry tone of voice “You need to not open your mouth so much hey, don’t talk so much”..... I also had the visor down to block the sun... well the driver got into my personal space and slammed the visor up very hard... this actually had me scared. He did say something to but I didn’t hear. So I said to him “now your going to display violent behaviours, stop and let me out.” (I was maybe 20 feet from my door way so I didn’t mind jumping out early). The customer in the back told me to just write a letter. I won’t take the morning shuttle ever again if it’s this individual. I’ll hang out at Kia till Hartley comes on shift. A customer should never feel fearful of their well being while dealing with a representative of the business. And given the last time I was with this guy he was actually ok, means that today he’s in a bad mood and can’t control his anger in the work place. I work in retail, and know that customer service is your key component to even having customers. I come back to North edmonton for the past 2 and a half years even though Sherwood is closer cause I love the staff. I love the customer service I receive from everyone there. I recommend this location to everyone I speak to. Which is why I still do a high rating. I won’t have 1 person ruin my thoughts on Kia... But I will say, watch what you say to this driver cause clearly he can’t handle his frustrations towards people in a professional manner. Thank you,

Super cool guy. I learnt a lot about vehicles. He was very patient with us especially considering it was our first experience purchasing a brand new vehicle and the fact that we we don’t know much about vehicles. I visited a couple of dealerships before meeeting Bill and most were quite aggressive. They called constantly and only seemed interested in closing the deal. Definitely not our experience with Bill. And the best part is that we got the price we were looking for with all the extra perks we requested at no cost. They even threw in a free detail for my older car. No complaints here.

Friendly, funny and honest service

We didn't intend to walk away with a new vehicle, but we're sure glad we did! Chris Smallwood was amazing to deal with, right from the first introduction. He was funny, attentive, honest, and we never once felt like we were being "sold" to. Kevin and Chris Bowles also great, we really appreciated how welcomed we felt and how quickly they responded to questions. I have never laughed so much during the purchasing of a new vehicle...and I appreciate that they didn't try to sell me the most expensive vehicle, but one that was in my price range and met my needs. Thank you!!!
