Go see Jeff McPike

By kevkav33 on 7/23/2018 at 12:12 AM. Helped by Jeff McPike.

Today I bought my second Honda from Pacific Honda. I had such a great experience with Jeff McPike the first time (when he was the only person on the west coast that was able to get me the exact car I wanted) that was sure to return. I was not disappointed. I absolutely dread the car buying experience. Negotiating, add-ones, bait and switch... you will get NONE of that with Jeff. He’s honest, transparent, quick, and ultra professional. He even came in on a Sunday (his day off) to finalize the sale of a high-demand car because I couldn’t make it in sooner. I have and will continue to recommend to all my friends and family to visit Jeff McPike at Pacific Honda. He’s seriously the man.

I would recommend this dealer.

Dishonest Management and Finance closers

By whatupdun on 4/9/2018 at 7:51 PM. Helped by Benjamin Brock and ?.

I will NEVER recommend this dealership. This is my last time dealing with Pacific Honda and Honda in general. I WILL NEVER BUY OR LEASE FROM YOU AGAIN! Twice I've leased from Pacific Honda and twice I've been TOTALLY RIPPED OFF! There are 4 of my family members in Texas that drive Honda's. After hearing about another horrible experience with Pacific Honda. Not only did I stay loyal to the same brand. I stayed loyal to the dealership as well. In addition to this, I rented a hotel room in San Diego, paid for a dog sitter, and drove all the way to San Diego from LA to pick up this car. Why did I do this? First and foremost to stay loyal. Second, to receive this amazing discount that was noted/sent to me. Not only did I not receive this discount, but I paid more than the initial price of the car. I came to San Diego expecting to pay less than the $282 I was paying for my previous car (which was more expensive), but I left with a lease that is $327 a month. That's $45+ more than my previous car. This after being told that I would receive this amazing discount no matter what. Initially I was told that my lease would be the same amount as my previous lease. This after they tried to lease the car to me at 3 different prices before this price was quoted. This, also after testing the car, thinking about it, making sure it was the one for me instead of the Lexus I nearly leased. This, also after thinking I was getting the car at one price for 2 hours (until they ran a credit check). Negative credit check or not, I rented a hotel room in San Diego, paid for a dog sitter, and drove all the way to San Diego from LA to pick up this car. Why not just do a credit check before everything else? Before 'me' driving to SD, before paying for a dog sitter, before renting a hotel room. I am absolutely FURIOUS, and HATE how these criminals CHEATED me. In addition to all of this, it was a Honda Financial credit report, not an actual credit report that is used for everything else. If Honda would have used the official credit report, I would have been able to negotiate a lower price than the $282 that I agreed on. Although I extended my lease to a fourth year, Made every single one of my payments + late fees, I'm still treated like someone who has never walked into your dealership. OH! Don't let me get started on the finance closer. After explaining my horrible experience, she STILL tried to push all of these extras on me. I sat there for over an hour while she tried to sell all of these extras to me 3 different times. Why she kept pushing after the 2nd go around, I could not tell you. PATHETIC! Chris

By Sherrie M Wilkerson on 4/2/2018 at 12:40 AM. Helped by DJ, Jefferson.

I was introduced to "DJ" Jefferson by a friend and I am so impressed by his caring and concern for my situation. I needed to get into a car as quickly as possible at the best rate . I spoke with him over the phone and let him what I needed in a vehicle and the price range that i wanted and payments range. When i went in for my appointment, he had a range of vehicles that would fit my needs and was able to get me into it.. Thank you DJ!!!!

Avoid taking your car even to change oil here.

By Hondaowner on 2/6/2018 at 11:56 PM. Helped by Manny Quiroz, Jerremie Minter.

I took my 2007 Odyssey today for a simple oil change. I was told to wait for one hour and half. The shop was not busy, and everyone else had service done on their car and left. I didn't hear from them for almost 2 hours. Horrible. I went to the personnel and he told me then that my car has not been serviced and they will start now. (So what were they doing for the past 2 hours? Their excuse was that there wasn't enough technicians. But then how did the others get their car fixed before me?) After 15 mins. they still have not started on my car, so I just asked for the car to be brought back to me. It took another 15 mins to get my car out of the garage. I recommend to go to another Honda dealer that you have seen good reviews on.

I would not recommend this dealer.

a very bad recall/repair experience, they are a big rip off

By Mr. Fnu on 12/22/2017 at 12:18 AM. Helped by Mark.

very bad experice, they are a big rip off. I took my 2004 odyssey to Pacific Honda for a recall in July on a Friday. The guy there offered me a rental car on behalf of Honda (as it was a recall) which I accepted (and later repented, read below). I told him that the check engine light turned on a week ago and I thought brakes and power steering pump hose (had a leak) needed inspection. He said they would charge $195 for the inspection and the amount can later be used towards the repair. I agreed. He told me that I will get a call in the morning around 9 and then I can bring the rental car and take my car (or leave it for the repair). I had plans with my family around noon and in the entire afternoon. Little did I know that they will be shattered, thanks to the "excellent (?)" service of the dealership. I did not get any call until 11. I called to check, the gentleman who was responsible for my car had a day off. I was asked to check again. Call again at 1. Same thing. Kept calling but they could not trace who was assigned to work and if someone was assigned at all. Called at 4 pm and got the impression that someone was working on it. I was also worried because it was Saturday and the rental company would close at 5. I did not want to pay the rental from my pocket for Sunday and Monday. I decided to go and check. My whole day was ruined. Around 5, I was told that they did everything they were supposed to and they handed me the estimate. It was surprising because until 4 they could not trace if somebody was even assigned to work on the car and apparently no one was. But anyway. Now about their estimate. They said the car needed a new transmission and it would cost $5661. When I asked in detail (on Monday, when the gentelman came back to work), if they even checked properly (other than just reading the code off the scanner). I was told that they did test drove, there was very loud whiny nouse at low speeds and it had a severe clunk during upshifts. It was shocking because I never felt any problem with the transmission. There was never any noise and it shifted very smoothly. As for the brakes, they said that the front pads were 0% left, rear pads were 10% left, and rotors needed machining. The estimate was $390 for front (including machining) and $290 for rear (without machining). As for pump hose, they said it needed to be replaced and also recommended that the pump be replaced as well (there was nothing wrong with the pump). The labor for pump and hose was $585 and parts were extra. But, in fact, there was nothing wrong the transmission. I just read about the code on internet and realized that it was nothing serious. Replacing the transmission fluid could fix it for others (or in some cases cleaning the solenoids). I just erased the code. Now it has been six months since then, and the car has been running just fine. No check engine light (I have not even changed the transmission fluid), have driven more than 3000 miles and everything is perfectly fine. And they wanted me to spend $5661 on transmission. As for the power steering pump, it was fine, and I knew it. The hose had a very small leak at the connection point and it is still fine. Just added a little power steering fluid (the Honda brand is $4.5, a bottle) and that's it. As for brakes, I took it to another mechanic. He said the rear pads were fine (more than 70%) and didn't need to be replaced. According to him they had more than a year of life on them. The front pads were about 30% but he recommended that they be replaced. It cost $100. In short, they have a bad customer service and are a big rip off. Stay away from them!

Pre Owner Certified Purchase

By Jencie P on 7/15/2017 at 4:22 PM. Helped by Brooks, Simpson.

I worked with Brooks Simpson at Pacific Honda. I am a woman and I hate buying cars (HATE). He helped me from start to finish. He was knowledgeable in their fields and helped me find the perfect car, No pressure through out without any attempts to upsell me on additional features on the car. They were fair with the value of my trade in. I will highly recommend going to Brooks if you're looking for a car! Great Job Brooks!

Extremely frustrating experience

By Phoebe on 6/30/2017 at 4:29 AM. Helped by Virgil, Mark,.

I received a 8% lower quote the same day I got my new car from them. And the information they provided is very misleading. They signed me into a lease contract without mentioning anything about the fees while they were busy selling their services, when I was sitting there clearly expressed my need - I can do finance and I don't think I need that much service for a leased car. But they kept persuading me that lease is lower interest rate and I can return it any time I want without any penalty, which is total WRONG! And when I tried to talk to them after, they kept me waiting for one week and replied you should have not signed the contract if you don't read through, and you should not shop around after closing the deal people are busy there. Now I end up in a three year LEASE contract at 10% higher price.

Excellent Car/Pleasant No Pressure Experience

By DeborahT on 6/18/2017 at 12:56 AM. Helped by Tate Mackenzie.

My daughter and I had a great experience at Pacific Honda, where my daughter purchased her first car (a 2008 Honda CRV). We saw the car on the internet and made an appointment with Tate Mackenzie to show us the car. I had previously had terrible experiences purchasing cars at dealerships, but Tate was so funny and friendly, that he made purchasing a car a pleasure. It was more like purchasing a car from a friend, than from a salesman. He was not pushy at all and did not make us sit there for hours. Instead, he really worked with us to find a fair price. Tate made the purchasing experience smooth and hassle-free. My daughter absolutely loves her car and we left the dealership extremely happy and satisfied. Tate also contacted us a few days later to ensure that my daughter was still happy with the car and that we were satisfied with the purchasing experience. This was by far the best dealership experience I have ever had. I highly recommend both Tate Mackenzie and Pacific Honda.

Excellent Experience

By Jacqueline A. Downs on 10/21/2016 at 12:39 AM. Helped by Scott Steven.

This was my first car buying experience, and if I had to do it all over again I would absolutely still choose Pacific Honda. My sales associate Scott was amazing and made the process simple and hassle free. We initially went to the dealership only to look, but after meeting the sales team and sitting down with Scott we decided to make the jump and purchase a vehicle. I would hands down recommend them to anyone looking for a new vehicle, Pacific Honda has an amazing team. It has been a pleasure to work with them.

My horrible experience at Pacific Honda

By dilanka on 8/18/2016 at 4:15 PM. Helped by Joshua Herrera.

*DO NOT GET YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED HERE. The short version: After my vehicle was at Pacific Honda for 22 days for a major warranty job, not only did they not finish the job properly but misdiagnosed their own screw up multiple times. Finally, they managed to sprinkle in a bit of terrible customer service, and poor communication on top of it all. I have tried to resolve this issue in a reasonable manner over the last month with Pacific Honda management with no success, therefore, I am forced to give a 1-star rating for the horrendous experience I've had. I have posted a detailed account of my experience online. Just look up "My horrible experience at Pacific Honda". Thanks

Misleading

By Civic14 on 6/21/2016 at 11:43 PM. Helped by Jose, John, Dottie.

Transaction focused dealership. Only want to close the sale. I was pretty much obligated to get their alarm which is costly compared to other brands and even when I mentioned I'd like to shop for an alarm in the market I was told I would not be able to take the car without it. Called Pete the salesman and he told me twice I could take the add ons from my contract which my financing bank recommended as I could find better deals elsewhere. I went back to the dealer and Pete again told me I could take the alarm out, then went to talk to his manager who came back and told me no, that once it's activated, it cannot be removed. Also they made very confusing with the APR during the sales process as I had been pre approved by my credit union, they made me believe they would match that but my contract was signed on a higher APR based on my credit scored at the moment. I'm not satisfied with the purchase and again the customer is the least important for them. They want close the deal and push extras without giving you any chance to escape. Had to speak with another financing agent to amend the contract to remove the paint sealant and the honda care. Paul was rather rude and came again with sales pitch making the customer feel uncomfortable and scaring tactics so that you can stay with the extras. For me, this shopping experience was disappointing and I would not recommend this dealer to any of my friends. Once you sign the papers, they own you and they could not care less for honoring their word such as been told at least twice that the add ons could be removed from the contract. Horrible experience for me.

I would not recommend this dealer.

False Advertising

By Diplomat on 5/20/2016 at 11:53 PM.

I was looking for an uncommon vehicle, a manual transmission 2011 Kia Sportage or Hyundai Tucson that I could tow behind my motor home. A friend found a 2011 Kia Sportage at Pacific Honda with a manual transmission. It had been on their website for about two months, not a popular car with a manual transmission. They then advertised it as "reduced in price". I wasn't in hurry to buy, since I lived about four hours away. Eventually, I helped a neighbor make a delivery near the dealership and they still had the Sportage, now almost three months on their lot. I checked out the car and it was in very nice shape. Since I was only going to use it for towing behind my motor home, I didn't want to overpay, especially since the dealership hadn't been able to sell it. I didn't want to get stuck with something I couldn't later sell. They initially priced it out the door at almost $16000.00 when they had it on special at $11900.00. They had added an extended warranty, GAP insurance and who knows what else. I told them previously that I was paying cash, so why would I want GAP insurance. Apparently, they were swing for the fences with their price. I told them I was willing to pay $12000.00 OTD. They immediately sent the sales manager in who gave me the story about how they just got the car in.....I told him that I knew they had it for at least two months. He told me there best price was $12750.00. They didn't seem interested in negotiating after that so I left. I thought about it and decided the car was clean and would make one more offer at $12350.00, about two weeks later, I checked to see if they still had the car and they did. We were going out of town for a week and decided to call when we got back. I checked when we returned home and they no longer showed the car for sale. Another two to three weeks passed and I bought a Honda CRV which is towable. A few days after I bought the Honda, my friend who had originally found the Sportage at Pacifc Honda, called and said they were now advertisng it again as a "new arrival". This may be a typical dealer practice, but I found it sleezy.

They sold me a lemon

By Lane63 on 5/20/2016 at 2:53 PM.

Bought a 2006 Mazda Miata and it did not last a year, the engine is blown and the replacement cost could reach $6000.00. This is more than half the cost of the car. They assured me when I bought it they had inspected every component, the reason it blew was a bad radiator. I will never buy another car from them.

Painless Purchase

By MattH on 5/13/2016 at 5:44 PM.

Just completed my first Honda purchase ever yesterday. Was happy I went with Pacific Honda. Pricing was quite competitive, even on a very popular model in a cool color. Appreciated the large inventory of cars. Hassle free too and was in and out very quickly (I am person that values my time, which seemed to fit with how they all sell cars here.) Thanks to Lawrence E on the sales experience along with Jojie Delfin for helping me with my car delivery needs.
