Sales=so-so, Service=good Finance=should be indicted

By Not a happy customer on 9/22/2017 at 6:39 PM. Helped by Fernando (Sales), Mo (Finance).

I bought a new CRV Touring, but it only had one key, so they had to make another. I had to go back multiple times because because the sales person said the key was ready when in fact he just assumed the key was ready without even checking with the Service Dept. to make sure a key blank was in inventory. I asked for and received compensation (rear cargo cover) for my wasted time and inconvenience. The salesman, Fernando, was good enough to deliver the rear cargo cover to my house). As point of sale, I bought the HondaCare warranty, then cancelled it within 60 days to get a full refund. I went back to dealership to sign a cancellation form and was told by the Finance Manager, Mo, that the refund would be mailed in 8 weeks.. Eight weeks later, I called multiple times and could not get a hold of Mo. I called Honda and they said that Mo never sent in the cancellation. Luckily I got a copy and have sent that directly to Honda. If I had not gotten a copy, I'd still be able to cancel Honda Warranty (since the CRV has than 36K miles, but not as 100%). Be wary of their Finance dept, especially of Mo.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Outstanding !!!!! Best Buying Experience Ever !!!!

By MrGumby091 on 8/16/2017 at 2:45 AM. Helped by Shakiba Rustamzada.

Came in looking for a Civic, was immediately greeted by my Super Sales person Shakiba. She went above and beyond to make sure that my wife and I got VIP treatment while at the dealership. She work hard to make sure we not only got the car that we wanted, but also the deal that we needed. She kept me informed during the entire process. I was pleasantly surprised that she text me a few days later to make sure everything was ok with my new car. I will defenitly be recommending this dealership and sales person to everyone I know. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME !!!!!

unethical business practice

By Sjay on 7/9/2017 at 5:28 AM. Helped by Sultan, Dina Atta, Peter Munoz.

Read this before you decide to visit Penske Honda Ontario dealership. First let me give 5 STARS to Sultan, who was the salesman. If you ever decide to visit this dealership I highly recommend you go with him but make sure to some how avoid dealing with manager Peter Munoz and Dina Atta in financing. It was about 7p.m. when we reached the dealership. I had discussed the price of the car with Sultan before going to the dealership and agreed to finance the car through the dealership. Loan application was signed by about 8.15 p.m. and we were waiting for our turn with the financing dept. Finally at about 9.30 p.m. or so we got in to the financing department with Dina Atta. During the signing process, she didn't  like my asking her questions or reading the different documents. She was in so much rush that she wanted me to sign on all the papers without any questions asked.  She offered me 60 months @3.99% financing through Honda financing which seemed high to me even though I have a FICO of over 830. Because of this high rate, I asked her if the dealership works with any other financing institution besides Honda financing.  She flatly said NO which is utterly a lie. I called in the next day and spoke to another guy in financing and he said they work with more than 50 different financial institutions.  This is EXTREMELY UNETHICAL.  I still don't know her reason for lying. It was so late in the night that Ijust wanted to finish the deal. So I decided for the time being I would use financing through them and later refinance it from elsewhere. I asked her if there was any prepayment penalty on the loan and she said no. When I read the loan docs it clearly stated that there would be a $ 75 fee. When I asked about this she goes "at 10.30 in the night do you want the car or no." I requested that she call the manager so I could talk to him. At this point she became very rude, aggitative, sarcastic and personal.    So here comes the manager and without knowing the facts accuses me of yelling at Dina and says rudely "You got such a good deal. Why are u questioning her about the interest rate and the $75 charge? The deal is off." Finally left the dealership at 10.30 in the night without the car.  My question to him is what does the price of the car have to do with the interest rate? You cannot lure a customer with a lower price on the car and sell them a loan at higher interest rate.  Please be aware and careful of this unethical business practice at this dealership if you ever decide buy a car.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Walked away from another dealer

By Civic Si on 6/28/2017 at 4:11 AM. Helped by Nima.

Knew what I wanted, knew what I wanted to pay, knew what my trade was worth. The sales people I dealt with were honest, transparent and reasonable. Wasted 3 hours elsewhere and left with nothing. Spent a little more than 3 hrs at Penske Honda in Ontario and that included the delivery of my new Civic Si. Should have started here first.

Friendly Knowlegable Staff 2017 Honda CRV

By CTS2016 on 3/6/2017 at 8:45 PM. Helped by Rodger Arandada, Jose in Finance.

I had been looking at various cars over the last few months and when I saw the 2017 Honda CRV online, I knew this car was perfect for me. I worked with Rodger Andrada over a period of 2 days, scheduled my appointment to pick up my car the following Saturday and everything could not have been more perfect. My finance manager, Jose, was also very friendly and took his time to explain all the docs that I was signing. I will definitely be coming here for my service and when my sons are ready to buy cars. I recommend this dealership to all my family and friends to visit. Thank you Team Penske

SOLD!

By Bella on 2/9/2017 at 6:48 PM. Helped by Bill McGrath, Jaime Vaca, Xavier Medrano, Carlos Tabares, Jim Boyd.

Why did I choose to visit Penske Honda of Ontario when I have a vast selection of dealerships where I live and work? I was looking for a specific year/model and they had one of the two available for sale in the state of California. Why did I choose to buy from Penske Honda of Ontario? The brand speaks for itself, I fell in love with the car BUT it was the customer service that helped seal the deal. I have had my share of bad experiences and good experiences in car buying but this one was THE best especially considering the particularity of my financial health. After my credit took a blow from a recent economic hardship, I was apprehensive of stepping into a dealership or engaging any financial institution. I did not wish to be put in a bad light and judged merely because of my credit situation. At the same time, I didn't necessarily need the car so I was in a good position to decline any outrageous, high-interest offers. Well, it didn't take long for my unease to dissipate, or even form rather. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed. Everyone had a smile and actually knew my name! Not only was I greeted by the sales staff, service manager and finance manager but the President and General Manager, Bill McGrath, himself. I must preface this by disclosing I did reach out to Mr. McGrath directly to inquire about the car and financing options. What I didn't expect was for him to personally respond, and so promptly! With that I knew, it would be worth a trip to Ontario (which by the way is right off the 15 freeway; and a couple of other things to note: they have a courtesy shuttle and service is open both Saturday and Sunday). I had the opportunity to test drive the vehicle and after an honest dialogue about my finances, I was met by their just as honest feedback -- and an offer. This took me by surprise, yet it was refreshing that they had taken me seriously and utilized previously provided information to generate numbers. And they weren't bad looking numbers! What eventually led me to sign papers that night was their responsiveness and willingness to help my situation. I didn't feel as though they were trying to take advantage of me or make a quick profitable sale on my account. In fact, I don't think they made much off my transaction! They listed a number of items on the due bill of pre-existing conditions with the car, which weren't exactly a deal breaker but I would have liked to see addressed. This they handled during my subsequent service visit, and more! There were a couple of items that went unnoticed during the signing but when I brought it to their attention, it was immediately handled. Now, why am I so excited about this whole experience? Because customer service is rare and theirs was exceptional (and I LOVE my car). On a number of occasions they went above and beyond - did I mention two porters worked overtime to deliver my new car home? Oh and the Special Finance manager Jaime (no, I did not spell his name wrong), he is very knowledgeable and was instrumental in pushing forth an efficient negotiation. And Mr. McGrath? He was there every step of the way! For top management to be ever so present and involved means a lot! Everyone worked so harmoniously together and provided for a seamless transaction. Even after the purchase, they remain attentive and consistent in their care and communication of my car needs. Just as with the Honda line of cars, the individuals that make up Penske Honda Ontario are quality and performance driven. You can't expect anything less of this team because they are the epitome of Helpful Honda.

I would recommend this dealer.

Very WORTHLESS People here

By DustinG777 on 11/8/2016 at 8:09 PM. Helped by Jim Boyd.

It amazes me how I bought my car here and I've also been coming here for the past 2 years to get my vehicle serviced, and yet it seems that every time I visit I get low quality service by incompetent employees? Do you guys have supervisors that have no clue what they're doing or what's the deal here? The guy quoted me 2 hours for the oil change and I end up having to wait over 3 HOURS for my oil change to get done. On top of that, when I have my car delivered to me it looks like your guys just grabbed a dirty wet rag and proceeded to "clean" my car with it. Was worst than when I brought it in. At the very least let the customer know that your employees are not properly trained on how to wash a car before offering the "free" car wash. Ridiculous. If I wanted my car looking like that I would have just told my 7 year old to wash it for me. Would have done a better job at doing so. Not to mention your little upsells that you annoy me with as well. I will be leaving a one star review on every page of yours that I find online. I don't need your employees fake little smiles, what I need is for the services that I pay for to be done RIGHT!

Ran my credit several times!!

By xxxxhondapenske on 9/20/2016 at 6:28 AM.

Screw this place! Ran my credit several times without my approval!! Told them to run it once and they ran it through several banks! I've been getting letter after letters from banks deny me. I now have 14 hard inquiries. They supposedly got me approve for a 2017 Honda Accord LX. Payments were going to be 650 for 72 months! That's 44,460 dollars! That's ridiculous! Don't go to this place! Scam artist to the max! They try to screw your credit up so you have no chance but to either go to them or buy a used car outside the dealership! Horrible!!

By Jessica G on 6/15/2016 at 5:02 AM. Helped by Don't remember.

When i bought my car i felt like a lot of things weren't explained. Felt like the customer service was average nothing special. I do love my car i just wish they would explain things a little more thorough. But other than that it was alright. I don't even remember my sales man name. I have taken my car to service twice and both times were very fast but yet again they don't explain much to you or let you know your vehicle is okay which i guess a way of saying it fine but still wish they would let you know.

The Worst Dealership Ever

By SamIE on 5/11/2016 at 6:35 PM. Helped by Sales manager Jaime and Edgar.

Rude and unprofessional. Did not want to negotiate any price for the car other than $700 under sticker and when we asked for just a bit more, they called it "charity" and they weren't willing to work with charity. So we took our business to Rock Honda and bought the same exact car for WAY less

What can I say

By Cargal247 on 5/19/2015 at 3:43 AM.

We bought our accord last April. So far We've been happy with it and haven't had a problem. The only thing I don't like is the way the employees in the parts and service department are. You want to talk about rude here are the departments, first I've taken our car 3 times for its oil change, this last time I wanted to file a complaint. The guy didn't understand apparently that I was getting angry because instead of taking his time and explaining to us what our car needed he tried to push the full service package! the worst part is he kept saying that he wouldn't give me any deals on the service that the price is how the guys in the back make their money! seriously this is the most worst service by far.

Incompetent

By Todd on 1/21/2015 at 3:22 AM.

Worked a deal over the internet which was to our liking. Drove an hour and a half from SD to complete the deal. After seeing the cars (one we were purchasing and our trade in) we both agreed everything was as expelted. With minor issues resolved the deal was completed on this October day. Great, right? Wrong! Mid November I receive a call from my bank whom I financed the car with asking if I've received the title to our new car. I said I had not received a title or the registration which was due in December. The next day I called the dealership and asked what the deal was. They assured me that it would arrive shortly. Two weeks pass and in the mail we recieve a letter from the dmv stating they were suspending our registration on our car which we traded in! It's December now, so I call again and ask what is going on. They tell me that the dmv had made a mistake but that it was rectified and should be all squared away. Great! Right? Wrong! It's now mid January and today I come home to a letter from the dmv again stating that the car in which we traded in was again having it's registration suspended. I also received a ticket from the toll roads with the license of the car I traded in from new years night! So here we are January 20th still without tags on the car we bought which are now expired. Suspended registration and a ticket from the car we traded in and the bank is without the title.. Completely incompetent is what this dealership is and they weren't very friendly to boot.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Julia Reineman and Jimmy Eklhas - Class Acts

By 916Han on 8/20/2014 at 4:15 PM. Helped by Julia Reinemen.

I KNOW my cars, the industry, the people, and the like. I used to be in car wholesaling for 8 years and I know what a good experience is and what a poor one is. Some tips for anybody shopping for a car: 1) Do NOT rush it (This will cause you to be remorseful in at least one way) 2) Do your homework on the vehicle you want (Yes, I said homework) 3) Do not settle on colors, options, accessories (Again, remorse) 4) Take your time to find a GOOD salesperson (They are the gateway to your positive experience) 5) Dealer experiences WILL vary from person to person. Some people are naturally giant D-bags and feel like they should have red carpet treatment, everywhere. My first visit to this dealer was mediocre as me and my wife were in the homework stage of what car we wanted to purchase and naturally, salespeople are much less attentive when they know immediate sales are not knocking at their front door. I commute a metric crap ton, like most So Cal residents, and wanted something kind of fun, reasonable on gas, and reliable. My first option was looking at CRZ's and that quickly dissipated as the rear visibility is poor, I still do not believe hybrid systems have been perfected, and the price for this 2 seater is kind of high for what you get. My second option was the new 2015 Fit. That thing is probably the most awesome entry level car on the market and is jam packed to the boot with gadgets/standard features. I opted out of this option because of some of the build quality issues with the new factory in Mexico (Google it). This led me to my choice of the 14' Accord Sport. The car met all of my requirements and it is Honda's volume car so I knew the discounts would be there. My venture started with e-mail inquiries from dealer to dealer and off the bat Norm Reeves was the lowest priced option with Penske Honda being probably #3 in the running. Going back and forth with dealers on what my price would be out the door (OTD), I finally landed at a killer deal at Honda World in Westminster. This dealer has horrendous ratings on Yelp!, DealerRater, and other sites about bait and switch practices, which I wouldn't be surprised with the cultural cereal bowl of sales people. This dealer was slightly further than Penske Honda and Penske said they will honorably match a written offer from another dealer and so we made an appointment with Julia Reinemen for a Saturday afternoon during their 72 hour sale. ***As a reminder, this rating is based off of my experience and not the environment. The dealer is undergoing some extensive remodeling so a lot of the "private" experiences you usually would find when purchasing a car were missing. I mean, I'm there to buy a car not to look at how they opted for nice acoustic ceiling tiles. I'm sure it will be a lot nicer when completed and this may bother some customers, but I'd rather do a good honest deal in a shack than have a drawn out manipulative one in a mansion. We showed up and waited about 5-10 minutes as Julia was BUSY. I mean it was pretty impressive that she handled 4 customers for the duration that we were there and did it in a way that she wasn't inattentive or off-putting. She had the car pulled up and we were off on the test drive to make sure the alignment was good, CVT tranny didn't have any shuddering, or anything else of the sort. One cool thing I found out is that she taught at the University level and transitioned to car sales as a means to take care of her financial obligations. Car sales is a make it or break it business and some people will skim by while others thrive. Julia told me she had only been there a year and she's at the internet level already (color me impressed). I do not have enough good things to say about Julia as she is more informed than most salespeople and she does what she needs to make your deal honest and straight to the point. I would not be surprised if she was running the joint a few years down the line. Now to finance. Easiest low-pressure finance guy I have ever met. Jimmy Eklhas was exceptional. I pre-faced our meeting by telling him a little about my background so he knew if I didn't want something, I didn't want it. We were in and out of his office in probably 15-20 minutes. Normally, the finance guy badgers you if you don't want the aftermarket alarm, extended warranty, service plans, etc, but Jimmy could tell in my tone that I was not interested and he respected that and we had a fun conversation. I honestly wanted to talk to him more because he had a pretty interesting background, but time is money. Overall experience 5 stars. Julia gets 5 stars. Jimmy gets 5 stars. Doing business in an under construction environment for some people may detract from the experience (it shouldn't) and if you really want the ambiance, just come back when it's done and sit in the lobby for an hour staring at salespeople. Sorry for the long review, but I really hope this helps somebody with a car buying dilemma. Thank you again Penske Honda.

I would recommend this dealer.
