Sales department is terrible I highly reccomend staying away

I have been in contact with this dealer for two weeks about a Lexus on the lot. I am from out of state so I wasn’t able to go there at first to look over the car but worked with Melanie a salesmen over messages. They lead me to believe this car was in perfect condition, this is why they had the highest price on the market. They told me to find other cars in a 150 miles radius and they would work on the price and I sent them 4 and they than tried to discredit all of the other dealerships saying they don’t offer the same warranty etc. I end up choosing to go with them only to find out the car I’m looking at has 2 curb rashed tires, spilt juice or soda in the backseat, scratches all over the trunk, paint cracking from what appears to be a rear end collision, and the front bumper is cracked missing paint. They parked the car against a snow banks so you couldn’t even see the front of the car or that damage - very deceiving. Also I was told they offer a 6 month warranty and this is why they are better than the other dealers with the same car - turns out the sticker on the car was As Is. They told me anything I wanted to hear to keep my business even though they had no clue what they were talking about. They pushed me to come to agreement and I would have before hand had I not had someone go out and look at that car. After I bring the issues up they told me to take my business elsewhere. I would highly reccomend reading through the past reviews and take your business elsewhere. I tried to do business despite the bad reviews but I guess they just keep living up to the horrible name and image they have going.

Disappointed in competence of service department

We recently brought our Chevy Cruze in due to a check engine light. On the way there, the radio display went out, so we asked them to check that too. The diagnosis for the CEL was a failing particulate sensor that would need replacement (~$450+) and the diagnosis for the display was a failed display that would need replacement (~$600+). We declined the repairs and went home, to decide what to do. While checking to see if we could at least get the fan to blow, we started looking at fuses and found a blown fuse for the display. Replaced fuse, display now works. So.....did they not even check the fuses???? Also, while searching about the particulate sensor I came across a policy memo that extends the warranty for the particulate sensor for 10 years/120K miles, so they should replace it for nothing. Do they not search for warranty info? I found it fairly quickly once I knew what was wrong. Next time I get a CEL, I will just get the code taken at Autozone and look up the code myself. I don't trust them anymore.

warranty useless

They charge 2500.00 for their extended warranty to cover engine and transmission, guess what, I have to pay almost 2200.00 because they conveniently don't cover head gaskets in their vehicles because they know they are a problem, can you say "gotcha" DONT do business with these people. Never had this problem with Ford or Chrysler in the past, wont be going to any more chevy dealers.

The worst experience ever

They literally have no idea what there doing I go in for a lease they put me through to 6 other banks besides the worst finance company in the world GM financial I had 8 hard pulls on my credit the first time this time I had 4 all with GM/Americredit Americredit are blood suckers they triple your payment as they feel like was approved first tier on my first lease never a hiccup now 3 rd tier all gm buyers do your self a favor and get outside financing don’t use GM financial or Portsmouth Chevy

I've recently been in the market for a vehicle. I ended up stumbling across a vehicle I was interested in at Portsmouth Chev. I went in, saw the vehicle and for good reason they steered me elsewhere. ( I appreciated that and appreciated them finding me another option) From the moment I hinted I was actually going to buy a vehicle, I was treated like crap- which is rather surprising. This was my first big car buying experience and I left feeling that I didn't matter. They basically told me my option and left it at that. The sale rep even stated "I'm not going to call you, you call me". Who does business like that? especially in sales.... I ultimately did buy the vehicle but my experience was less then great. I felt unappreciated and looked at like I was joke and basically made to feel like they were doing ME a favor. The car was less then "detailed" when I actually gained possession of it and the batteries to the key fab were dead when they were given to me...and I was told " you can go buy those". This vehicle was definitely an upgrade from my previous vehicle but no one showed me anything about the car. They just handed it to me and sent me on my way. I basically left feeling because I didn't have 5 star credit, a million dollars and was not buying a $100k car my business was not appreciated and therefore I don't matter. Wow! Great service guys. Thanks for reminding me why I do not buy from dealerships and only do private sales. I will certainly not be back.

Bait and switch salesman did not show up

I drive 3 hours plus a boat ride to pick up my new truck none of the paperwork was correct the salesman never showed up they were charging me for spray in bed liner that is listed on invoice already was never informed about paperwork I needed to close the deal

Excellent salesman

He made the process fast which was very convenient considering I had kids with me and fun listened to all my concerns and answered all questions. Super happy with the van and the amazing customer service . Now anytime Anyone I know says they are looking for a car I tell them to go see Mike at Portsmouth Chevrolet. I bought a 2016 Chevy tahoe LTZ , it was the best experience I have had buying a car. Mike Mahoney made it so super easy for me to understand what I was buying what it did what they offered and what they will continue to do as a dealership. I drive about 50minutes when there is a chevy dealership 10minutes from my house based on the experience I had and continue to have there. 1000% recommend dealing with Mike Mahoney and the dealership !!!!

I went to Portsmouth Chevrolet after leaving a Chevrolet in the next town over due to such horrible service. Wow, what a difference!. Derek Hurley was amazing. I told him exactly what I was looking for in a lease and he did not try to push me into anything more. When I asked him a question, he gave a very direct and honest answer, which is something that seems quite rare in a car salesman. Most unprofessional service department

So at 12,000 miles my 2014 Silverado had a horrible whining noise when I would turn the wheel. so after diagnosing it with a mechanic at a different shop we came to find out it was a lower ball joint. After bringing it to Portsmouth Chevy the FIRST time they said they couldn't hear the noise ... Ok so when it was so obnoxious I called Peter in service so he could hear it on speaker phone he said ok bring it in. After telling him exactly what the problem was (lower ball joint) he has the mechanic put an upper control arm in.. So after a couple days the noise comes back I asked why they did the upper control arm not the lower ball joint he gets all mad at me and blames it on my leveling kit (which does not void warranty) and proceeds to tell me they never should have touched it. After this I got so mad and call the service manager he asked if I had a lift kit I said no I have a leveling kit. Ok fine bring it in he says. So my THIRD time now driving 45 minutes away to the dealer they bring me to get a rental car and don't tell me I need a credit card to have this rental car and I had to have a friend come pick me up (with his ford) so after finally getting my truck back it was the lower ball joint! He covered it under warranty thankfully but says they shouldn't have. Now at 30,000 Miles the other side just went . Obviously I'm not bringing it to those xxx hats so they can insult me. Instead I brought it to banks in concord and they treated me like gold did my ball joint ,alignment , tire rotation all free of charge with NO accusations of what the problem was caused by. Great people down there at banks and I will be back there for any future repairs. Do not, I repeat DO NOT waste your time with Portsmouth Chevy. You will just get hassled and insulted.

I have to say that over the last 9 years i have asked the impossible of Jim Delia and John Leonardi. They have never let me down. Today I picked up my 2017 Chevy Malibu. I got a fantastic rate and payments less than I had on the vehicle I traded in. It literally was painless. If you havent been there take the time to do so. Ask for Jim Delia. #1 Sales person at the dealership for years. Patrick and John lead an incredible finance team. I hope if your looking for a vehicle new or used you will go to Portsmouth Chevrolet.
