Excellent service and people throughout the process. Clint Phillips being my #1 sales contact was amazing. Andy his sales manager was great. John the "app" and car walk-through person was great and even John the finance guy was great. Made things easy and quick. They even sent Green Cab 30 miles out to pick me up and bring me there. I'd recommend them and use them again in a heartbeat.

Very satisfied with my new 2019 Avalon purchase

I have been waiting for the 2019 Avalon to come out and when it did we went to Smart. They were very helpful as soon as I walked in too make sure I was taken care of. I worked with Ryan Kutty who took the time needed to go over everything and to provide us with options. The finance department and also the orientation department did a fabulous job with making us feel comfortable with the final stages of purchasing a new car. I would recommend Smart Toyota to anyone looking for a new car.

I was referred to Smart from a family member that swears by them. After having a horrendous experience at another Toyota dealer, I was very skeptical. I am glad to say that I was wrong and happy that I made the hour trip and met with Al Franklin. It is few and far between that I write a review, but after having two opposing experiences, I had to share. Every person we came in contact with at Smart Toyota was warm and helpful. Al Franklin is knowledgeable, patient and made sure we had a fair and pleasant purchase. Justin Calvert made sure to explain financials that made me feel confident and comfortable in my purchase. I truly felt that it wasn't just a sale, but an opportunity for them to create a lasting relationship. I will definitely recommend Smart Toyota to anyone I know looking for a vehicle, Toyota or not.

Not honest

I recently brought in my 2011 Toyota sienna van as the cable broke which opens the automatic side doors. I was informed that the motor and cable system needed to be replaced and this would cost 1900.00. My research for a cable replacement found a cost of less than 200.00 so this was a big shock. I had no idea that there was something wrong with the motor. I did not commit to fixing it as the cost seemed high and we could still open the door manually so could just not fix it. As I did more research I decided to take off the inside door panel and while pushing the button to open the door I heard the motor running. I also heard it when I pulled the handle on the outside. They told me that the motor needed to be replaced in addition to the cable system but it was clearly audible when engaged and working. After more research I decided to try replacing just the cable component. I ordered this online for 40.00. I spent about 1.5 hours putting in the cable attachment which did require me wrapping the cable on the spool that turns when the motor runs, pulling the cables. This was the only difficult part of the entire thing making sure they were even and didn't come off the spool when placing it on the motor. Once this was done I pushed the spool onto the motor and put the panel back on and Bam! it has worked every since, 2 months out. I didn't understand how they had come to the conclusion that I needed the motor and cable replaced and felt that I should get a refund for the inspection fee. I talked with the manager of the service department (I actually did this when the door panel was off and before I put on the cable component so he could see and hear the motor run). He said that was strange and went to talk with his mechanic. When he returned, his explanation why it all needed to be replaced was: it was too difficult for the mechanics to correctly wrap the cable on the spool so they would just replace the entire motor and cable components (they would come already wrapped and together in 1 piece). I questioned why I wan't told honestly what was wrong (lying that the motor needed to be replaced) and even if told this why couldn't only the cable component couldn't be replaced (because the mechanics were not skilled enough to do what I and other youtube video posters were able to do). He tried to rationalize this without making sense and attempted to split the inspection fee because they did do something? I protested, stating what they did was tell me that something that wasn't broken needed to be replaced at a cost of 2k when the part that needed to be replaced was 40.00 and less than 2 hours of time. He eventually acquiesced and returned the full amount. I will never take my car there for anything but to have recall repairs done. They will squeeze any penny they can out of you, how else do they pay for the free donuts and coffee.

My wife purchased a 2018 4Runner from Smart Motors they were much more competitive on their pricing than two other dealerships we visited. We came in the next day for delivery and discovered a discrepancy in the purchase price. After a cordial discussion with the sales manager, we both recognized that some miscommunication had occurred by both parties. We left with the vehicle and an appreciation for a dealership that stood behind their customers! They earned our business. We will be back!

From initial internet contact to driving our new Camry hybrid form the dealership we were treated with respect as customers. Questions were answered, our requests were respected, and we were truly treated as a valued CUSTOMER. Overall the most enjoyable car buying experience this 70 year old couple have experienced. Kudos to the staff, Chad Nettesheim, Stratos Amini, Jacob Maasch, all of whom were true professionals. We will be buying all future vehicles from Smart Motors.

Great Dealership

We have purchased three cars beginning with our first purchase in 2012. We started with a Highlander Hybrid then a Prius for our daughter and recently a new Highlander Hybrid. Throughout those years the service department has been excellent. Should you ever need it, the body shop is superior. Everyone from sales to service to finance to vehicle orientation has always been very courteous and professional. Having a dealership experience as beneficial as this is rare. The prices for new cars are fair and trade on used cars is also fair. There is no hard sell and you feel like you have made a wise purchase when you complete the sales transaction.

I researched the vehicle and was reinforced with information on my car decision. I was coming from a Town & Country which I owned for 13 years. I needed the space and safety for commuting on the highways. I felt the Highlander gave me everything I needed to be comfortable and safe. I love the way it handles and drives. Gary was the perfect salesman for me. He spoke to me directly, answered all my questions and made sure I had an understanding of the vehicle. I am very pleased.

Best Car Buying Experience Ever

This dealership gets the highest rating on everything from us. Third times the charm on a new vehicle purchase with Scott Nelson. He asked me what I wanted, what I needed and then proceeded to show me the vehicle that fit that w/the best deal they were running and didn’t try to sell me anything extra. No “rain guard”, no extra frills, just the car and all of the safety features that are standard on a RAV4. Sara went through the vehicle physically w/us and the owners manual. Dana then walked us through the paperwork and the terms of the lease. We will now be buying all of our vehicles from Smart Toyota.

2018 Toyota Highlander Purchase

Smart Motors gets my highest score for the entire purchase experience of a new vehicle. They treated me in the most professional manner. Bob Lickel, my sales representative, was the most considerate and fair person to work with. He went out of his way to make the purchase an enjoyable experience. I felt I was treated fairly in the trade in value of my vehicle and price discount of new vehicle. Both Bob and Greg Erzen were very honest and informative in the transaction. I highly recommend one deal with Smart Motors. I also love the 2018 Highlander.

I purchased my first Toyota from Smart Motors 10 years ago. Not only did I love the car, I also loved the dealership for its convenience and ease of scheduling appointments, as well as the staff I've encountered. I've purchased 2 more Toyotas for my family since that time, so of course I went back for my most recent purchase. I bought 2 used cars in the past 5 years and have been delighted to get to work with the same sales rep each time. Chris Karinopoulos is honest, open to feedback, and truly cares about your buying experience. I recommend him and Smart Motors hands down to other dealerships.

He worked with me and my budget to get me a lease on a Rav4. He knew from talks ahead of time why I wanted to move up from my Corolla to a Rav4 and he knew the color I would choose. He had everything set and ready to go, and was very fair in his work. I love the new Rav4 and had no idea it would drive so nice and feel so solid. My drive home was super! I'm so glad Rodney is back at work again after his illness! Also, the two ladies who worked with me at the end were great, too. Sara gave me her card so I can call if I have any questions about the Rav4 features.

Great Customer Service!

We live in Rockford, IL and just purchased our 3rd Toyota at Smart Motors from Greg Erzen within the last 6 years. Greg is excellent to work with, has great follow-up and is very professional. He answered all of our questions and concerns about the vehicles we were considering. Greg constantly followed up with us providing solutions on pricing, trade-in value and vehicle consumer reviews concerns. We also considered buying a Honda Accord and Greg quickly responded with a counteroffer on the Camry and sent us a side-by-side comparison. We drove up the next day to trade in our Tacoma and bought the Camry. We worked with 4 different Toyota and Honda dealerships and several salespeople and Greg is by far the best. He never gave up and as a result earned our business. We would give him a score of 12 on a 10 scale. Thanks for all of your help Greg! P.S., we love the Camry!!

Our family of four currently drive four Toyotas (3 RAVs, 1 Highlander). These Toyotas replaced 2 RAVs, a Camry, and a Venza. Before that were yet another RAV and a first model year Highlander. Our experience with Smart is and has always been just a truly great experience. I like buying cars and Smart makes the experience great. We use Smart's drive-in lube service as well as their service department. We are entirely satisfied. On the rare occasion we've had a weird problem with one of our Toyotas Smart has worked with us and with Toyota regional to a satisfactory conclusion. If you're looking for a Toyota (and you should be) start with Smart. You'll discover you don't need to go anywhere else.

A very pleasant experience in buying a new car

My wife and daughter both drive Toyota's from SMART motors. I switched from Ford Explorer and bought a new Highlander E plus. It was a very good interaction between myself and Gary F. There was absolutely no pressure sales tactics. Gary was very professional, listened carefully to what I needed, took the time to answer ALL my questions, never pressured me, and I was very pleased with his conduct. After I purchased the car, SMART motors systems gurus, John Morrison, their orientation specialist mgr, took an hour to go over the navigation system. After I took the car home, I read the car manual and the navigation system again. I still had questions and I went back and I had another session covering the navigation system. I am very pleased with SMART motors and I highly recommend them.
