Wouldn't Even Look At It

By Shadow7378 on 6/30/2018 at 6:45 PM. Helped by I think it was Chris Stone.

Had car problems two times going to Charlotte Airport which is 2 l/2 hrs each way for me. Husband was taken to hospital in Texas and had to rush home. Had to leave car in long term parking but arrange with dealership to look at the car if a friend brought it to them. Had all relevant information. After promising me they would they refused - costing her four hours of travel. Now I have no way to get my car.

I would not recommend this dealer.

The best experience at a dealership ever

By Emitch15 on 4/21/2018 at 1:31 PM. Helped by Scott Redfieldt.

Nothing but perfection. Also worked with sales man Scott Redfeildt and he is the absolute best to work with. He listened and delivered exactly what I wanted and he was wonderful to work with. We made the deal super late. And they stayed with us 2 hours after closing. They explained all the extras... Here is the key though. They didn't try to sale me! They were straight up honest. I love them and love my new car! You will too! DO NOT GO TO MAZADA OF SOUTH CHARLOTTE THEY SUCK.

I would recommend this dealer.

Positive experience with Michael Bengtson and team!

By SubaruGirl on 4/12/2018 at 6:45 PM. Helped by Michael Alexander.

I had a wonderful, no pressure buying experience with the dealership. From Michael Alexander with initial communications and scheduling a test drive to Michael Bengtson, the salesman I worked with in person. Michael Bengtson was very knowledgeable about the car model I was interested in, able to tell me differences between the cars from one year to the next. He made sure I was comfortable with my selection and price before moving forward with the process. He even took the time to review all of the technology and safety features so I understood how they worked and how to operate each of them. I was happy with the deal and financing was a breeze. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. The process from start to finish was quick but smooth. I would definitely recommend this dealership and staff to those looking to buy a car.

I would recommend this dealer.

Subaru Reigns

By SJStrick on 10/18/2017 at 12:20 PM.

I bought my Subaru Outback in 2013. The sales department couldn't have been more helpful or efficient. I was amazed that I was able to actually drive my new car home same day. Service since then has been outstanding. I take the light rail into work and the South Blvd. station is close to the dealer. They drive me to the station and pick me up. Everyone has always been helpful and very pleasant to deal with. I really don't know where those negative reviews are coming from.

I would recommend this dealer.

Sales dept was excellent. Services Department P O O R

By mannymirabal on 9/14/2017 at 8:30 PM.

24 hours after purchasing a Subaru Cross Trek, I had to take the car back for service. The car was vibrating excessively after 65 miles per hour. I am going to be fair with the People in Sales. Everybody was very professional cordial and happy to do their jobs. I was treated very well and the general manager Mr. Patrick Leinthall is truly a gentleman and sincere person. I will buy any car from him any time. I am 100% sure that he will do his best to get me the best deal available. As of matter of fact, I provided Mr. Leinthall with the monthly lease I felt was fair after researching several dealers in the area. I m sure that the sales team was trained to recognize that as a customer, I am always right, he made sure that I received this special VIP treatment. Now, the bad part. When I took the car back to the service department, I was treated as a second class citizen by Mr. John Falk. I was no longer the VIP person I was less than 24 hours before. I was so impressed with the Subaru personnel up to that point. Evidently, Mr. Falk called sick when Subaru was providing training to both the Sales and Service Department. This man should not be in the customer service department because of his poor customer services skills. He was rude and his comments were unnecessary. These types of people should not be in this type of service because it diminishes the quality of services that Subaru is trying to achieve with the competition . Perhaps, Mr. Fulk would be more suitable to be in different position away from customer Services which in the long run might benefit Subaru competitive edge. If you need services, stay away from this employee or you are going to be sorry as I was during my first experience with Subaru and negate the good job done by Mr. Leinthall and Mr. Lenkieth Warren.

I would recommend this dealer.

Felt Like Family

By npretty on 12/27/2016 at 2:19 PM.

First, the review from the guy about the Jeep is absurd. There are two sides to every story and this guy sounds over the top. I contacted Subaru S Blvd around 9AM for a Toyota Camry and told them I would be in around 11AM to come look at it. I got a call from Patrick at 10:15AM stating someone was taking it for a test drive and he couldn't promise the vehicle would be available. I appreciated his transparency and showed up at the dealership around 11AM anyway. I came in looking for a Camry, but was sold on a Subaru Outback. Patrick understood my needs and my budget. The Outback was a 1 owner car with no reported damage and 104,500 miles. Patrick allowed me to take the car to my mechanic to have it looked over before moving forward. My mechanic identified 3 items that needed attention: 1. Front CV Boot/Axle 2. Front Brake Calipers 3. Tires - the Outback had ice tires on it and would need to be replaced. Not only did Patrick agree to all of the repairs, he lowered the price of the car while promising to fix the car. The entire Subaru staff was courteous, caring and not aggressive at all. I scheduled my new Outback for service and was told over the phone it may take a day or two to get it back. I thought this was reasonable considering the work that needed to get done to it and I was promised a loaner. I spoke with John in service when I dropped the car off and the repairs were completed that same day. I have been beyond impressed with all of my interactions with this dealership and it is the best experience I have had with a sales/service department.

I would recommend this dealer.

Holiday Samaritans

By Must love cars on 1/6/2016 at 11:43 PM.

While on holidays,I was visiting family in Charlotte where I had a minor issue with my car. It's tough enough to locate a good car dealer in your home town, never mind when you're away.It was Christmas Eve,or eve of when I showed up at Subaru South Blvd. The service department was busy, yet John,Ed,David? and a technician tried to help me fix my car. I felt TOTALLY comfortable allowing this dealership make the repair, but the part[s] needed was not available. There's something to be said in how you treat someone BEFORE they spend money with you.

The used car department should be avoided at all costs

By caseyjohnsn on 2/3/2015 at 2:59 PM.

I found a Jeep that Subaru South Blvd. had listed on AutoTrader, the price was right and it looked like just what I had been looking for. I contacted the dealership via email to request more detailed pictures, which were sent, along with a few questions and answers. So far so good. I decided to sleep on it, and the next day I called Patrick around noon to express my desire to buy the vehicle in question (I am some distance away from the dealership). At this time Patrick told me there was a man taking the Jeep to be diagnosed by his mechanic, and if all was well it would be sold. I got a call from Patrick a few hours later, telling me that the dealership would be sending the vehicle to auction, due to the discovery of a climate control issue and an oil leak. Being someone who is fairly handy, I knew that I could resolve the climate control issue but the oil leak might have been another question entirely. So first I asked Patrick what his bottom-line price on the vehicle was considering that it had these problems and they were just going to send it off to auction anyway. He tells me he will call me back in five minutes, and I ended up having to call him back a couple hours later, at which point he tells me that their asking price is firm! On a vehicle they are apparently ready to give up on and ship off to auction, they will not give me any sort of discount for needed repairs. Now I am a reasonable person, and I was still interested in the Jeep, so I asked Patrick if he could have his service department take a look and tell me what exactly was wrong with it. My thought was if the oil leak could be fixed without massive expense, we could still make a deal, the Jeep was reasonably priced and I was willing to eat some of the cost. Patrick tells me that he will have his "best guy" look at it "first thing" Saturday morning, and he would call me when he got the diagnosis. I'll add here that Subaru South Blvd. says that all used cars pass a 27 point inspection, which must be the most cursory inspection in the used car business (I can only assume each tire counts for one point), since they failed to diagnose some noteworthy problems at the start. I was a little apprehensive about having the same people do this work, but I feel now that this 27 point inspection is intentionally completely useless. Long story short, I never heard back from Patrick. I received an email from Doug Johnson a couple days later wanting to make sure I was getting "all the information I need" from his sales associates. I responded that I had not heard from Patrick regarding the Jeep. I never got a reply to this message either. And after all of this, the vehicle, a blue 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, is STILL on the lot! So much for that auction. I can only assume Patrick and management decided that I knew too much, so they would shove me aside and wait for someone to come buy this defective vehicle without getting it inspected first. I've shopped for a lot of vehicles, and this is the first time I have ever written a review. If I can stop one person from buying a used vehicle from these people it will have been well worth it.

I would not recommend this dealer.

I stopped by the dealer to look at the Imprezas. I wanted to test drive one to see how it handled. Brandon Bates was very helpful. There was no pressure to buy the car. I received a very fair trade in value for my car sight unseen. Everybody else involved in the sale process was very friendly and helpful. They are always willing to assist you even after your have purchased your car.

Staff was very friendly, and direct but not aggressive. Kelsey Tobin from internet sales was very helpful in keeping us informed of the status of the vehicle, prior to being able to make a visit. Eric Lang was extremely helpful in explaining the purchase process of the used vehicle being purchased, along with the no-pressure sales approach. Daniel McLaughlin prepared and executed closing paperwork in a very timely manner and was very informative of the paperwork process, considering we purchased the vehicle from out of state. The vehicle was purchased with some minor issues that required attention and that was agreed upon during the purchasing process. The staff (Eric Lang and Patrick) along with the service department personnel were very helpful in the scheduling and execution of the repairs (again, considering we were from out of state). Good, no-pressure experience.

I would recommend this dealer.

By titanium1998 on 5/18/2013 at 6:54 PM. Helped by Chris Stone.

Wife and I visited this dealership not really knowing what we wanted, including even anything within the brand. We narrowed down our options pretty quickly to either a CrossTek or an Outback. We really were horrible with deciding what we wanted. We placed a verbal order for an Outback, got the price consessions we were looking for. The day we went to pick it up we decided on our way to the dealership that we wanted to take another look at the Crosstek. When we we say the lease costs for the Crosstek (higher than the outback) we were flamoxed and decided to do nothing (more time to think). After leaving the dealership we received a call from Chris who sweetened the deal on the Outback even more. We uturned, went back to the dealer, and closed the deal. If anything, we (the customer) were an undecided, flip-flopping pain in the neck. The whole time Chris was very matter of fact. Not once did he show any signs of anxiety. Not the case for us... Along the lines of price, we did our research on kbb.com and pretty much knew what the going market/street price was for the car we configured. When we presented the price we were willing to pay there were no issues. Prior to the price "presentation" there was a little bit of the old school "let me check with my manager to see what we can do on the price". That ended quickly once I presented my offer (instead of the other way around). Overall, they went through enough of the details/features of the care to get me going. Chris followed up a week later to see how things were going... which was nice. I did take the opportunity to ask him a question about the rear seat belt... it just saved my from looking it up in the owners manual. The "finance experience" was very low pressure... they pretty much knew we were the kind of customer that didn't go for the extended warranty pitch, so they didn't make it. I was surprised and even asked what happened to it! Overall, once we made up our mind what WE wanted, the purchase experience was uneventful, no-pressure and low stress. It was not the typical dreaded car purchase experience.

I would recommend this dealer.

By EmilyCannon on 5/14/2013 at 6:35 PM. Helped by Doug.

They are the definition of a SHADY car dealership!! I bought a trade in there, and was told it goes through a 120 point inspection. My husband specifically asked about transmission problems we learned about when researching Pathfinders online. We were assured the vehicle would not have that issue. Three days after buying the vehicle, the check engine light came on. I took the car back to the dealership, and they sent me home in one of their rentals. They had my car for over 24 hours, and told me all it needed was a tune up. Upon leaving Subaru, the light came on again on the way home. I called them to let them know and they told me it "was not in their budget" to help me. At this point, I hadn't even made the first payment on the car!!! Three months later, the transmission gave out completely. We took it to the Nissain dealership, and they ran the vin number and told us had previously done work on it. The car had been their two years prior and had transmission problems then. The past owners declined to have the work done, stating they were planning on trading the car in anyway. So now, I have a $5,500 repair bill, and I only paid $10,000 for the entire car. Every repair person I have had look at the car told me the car was a LEMON, and that there was no way Subaru didn't know about the issues when they sold it to (please keep in mnd we specifically asked about this EXACT ISSUE). The kicker is that not only did they lie to me when I bought it, the car sat in the service bay area and they still did not tell me. Apparently if we had been told at either point what the true issue was, we could have bypassed the radiator and possibly saved my transmission. My husband and I went back to Subaru again to ask for help, and they told us they would put in a USED transmission for around $4,000!!! All in all, we got screwed... please don't let them screw you too!!!!!!!!

Best experience buying a car EVER! Matt Carr in internet sales was very quick to respond to all my questions. Barry Tate(salesman) went out of his way to find us the Caramel Bronze ouback that we wanted. He was going to drive to Northern Virginia, but ended up finding one in Charlotte. No pressure to purchase the car just very knowledgeable about the features of the car. Daniel Mclaughlin, finance manager was extremely helpful in explaining the promotional terms of the contract.
