Most Dishonest and Incompetent Service Dept

This dealership is dishonest, but I'm going to start off with the positive: It does sufficient sales volume that allows it to offer some pretty good deals. If you are going to buy a car from them run, don't walk, and insist on dealing only with Maria Cerceda. She is good people, and either hasn't read, or chooses to ignore, the manual saying that lying and deception is an acceptable practice. Maria knows Subaru products, and she has the patience of Job. I even trusted her to deliver my new car (I don't let anyone drive my car). Maria also had the good sense to honor my request not to subject me to the high pressure sales tactics the finance department will place on you to buy various after market products. Google these products before you buy them and you'll understand why they have to be sold, rather than customers asking for them. Unfortunately, a car is ultimately only as good as the service support it receives, and you can't trust Subaru Santa Monica's service department. Here are some examples: Nearly a year ago I took my car in for a routine oil change and tire inspection. As I'm a perfectionist and rigidly adhere to the tire specs Subaru recommends --35 psi in the front; 33 psi in the rear - I asked that my tire pressure be left alone because I didn't trust the tech to do it correctly. After picking up the car, I headed to the gas station to readjust the tire pressures, as the front and rear tires should have been reversed. They weren't. There also was another sign the tires hadn't been rotated, despite the work order saying it had. At the time, SSM had a newly hired service rep named Chris Woodson. Chris is a southern gentleman who is honest and takes pride in his work. He could have lied and said the tech mistakenly adjusted the tires after rotating them. Instead, he told me to bring the car in and he'd investigate. Long story short: my tires weren't rotated because one of the screws was jammed and needed a special instrument. The tech was too lazy to go get it, so he just marked the work order saying the work was completed. Chris, a mechanic himself, personally rotated my tires and invited me to watch him do it. Chris lasted at SSM less than a year, and while I have no first hand-knowledge or evidence about why, my guess it had to do with the fact that his professionalism and Boy Scout honesty was a bad cultural fit. He was quite a loyal employee: He asked me to take down a negative review of my experience, despite the fact that it praised him mightily. As a favor to him, I did. I took my Subaru in today for another oil change and tire rotation. Unlike my older model, my 2018 Subaru gives a very accurate reading of the tire pressure. So, I let the assistant manager I spoke with know that I expected my tire pressure to be properly adjusted. When I picked up the car, he told me that he personally made the adjustments, assuring me they were dead-on accurate. The photo below shows the reading within two minutes of me pulling out; one front tire was overinflated by two pounds and both back tires overinflated by three pounds. There's more: While waiting for my car I noticed a tech on multiple occasions smash a car's tires while trying to align them on the service bay. I was taken aback by his ineptness and carelessness, but also with the force he hit the bay. It seemed to me the force could have knocked out the alignment. Regardless, I wouldn't want that guy touching my car. It's hardly surprising that a customer's vehicle was damaged last week at the shop. For reasons unknown to me, someone decided to reset the opening of my rear latch so that I’d have to open it manually. I discovered this when I had my dog in the car – he panicked when I had trouble opening it and jumped under the rear door and onto the street. Had a car been coming the other way, he would have been killed. Some clown also changed my lighting setting to manual from automatic, which I didn’t immediately realize when I was driving at night. Other signs of disregard: I asked that my license plates be put on the car. I mistakenly expected they would take off the temporary sticker, but they couldn't be bothered. They also were too lazy to remove some tree sap on my car as part of their free car wash. Admittedly, not the end of the world, but it reflects a work ethic that says, "I really don't give a xxxx." I'm not alone. My neighbor had a more serious issue with SSM's service department a few years ago. She also regarded Chris as a savior. I love and trust Subaru; they quickly resolved an issue for me when I bought my first Outback. I'm sending them this review and will update it if, and when, I get a response. I can't imagine that a company known for its commitment to safety and reliability wants a team of dishonest and disinterested amateurs servicing its awesome vehicles.

So happy with my Forester

I had such a pleasant experience at Subaru of Santa Monica! I came in to get a sense of what I wanted and did a test drive with Sang Lee. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and didn’t make me feel pressured in the slightest. Despite having leased Subarus from other dealers in the past, I decided Sang was my guy. He got me an amazing deal on my dream car. Thanks, Sang Lee and Subaru of Santa Monica!

Subaru Outstanding Customer Attitude!!

After researching cars online for over a month, we finally decided to explore a Subaru Outback. We went to Subaru Santa Monica because they were near where we live. We met Everett Armstrong there and told him what car we were interested in examining. His approach from the first moments we met him until we closed a deal was courteous, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We wound up with the exact car we were interested in the next day (no attempt to switch us to something on the lot just to close a deal). He introduced us to a Sales Manager, Danny Canteo and the Service Advisor, Dwight Riley who would take care of our future service needs. Everett's delivery process was very thorough not only showing us all of the cars features and how they worked, but assisted us in pairing our phones, etc. He walked us around our trade-in to make sure we had retrieved all of our stuff and even found and removed our street parking sticker (which I overlooked) and installed in on our new car. In all the many years that I have looked at and purchased cars, I have never had such a pleasant experience without stress or pressure. I would highly recommend Everett Armstrong and Subaru Santa Monica if you are interested a Subaru product. I am looking forward to what I understand will be excellent Service support in the future from discussions with others who have dealt with Subaru Santa Monica.

Outstanding and friendly service!!

This was my first time into a Subaru dealership and I was immediately impressed. The showroom is clean and spacious and presents the brand and vehicles well. The minute I walked in I was greeted by multiple friendly employees shortly after which I was introduced to Arturo Figueroa who helped show me the ins and outs of multiple vehicles (the Forester and Outback). He was knowledgeable about both vehicles and very kind and courteous the whole time. Not once did I feel pressured or pushed to purchase the vehicle like so many places do. Arturo answered all of my questions and provided numbers in a straight-forward manner without stalling or delaying. I ended up leaving the dealership that day to test drive some other vehicles but kept in contact with Arturo due to the great experience I had not to mention how much I had enjoyed the vehicles. Arturo and I ended up working out a great deal on the 2018 Subaru Outback and I cannot be more pleased. Thank you Arturo!!!

Great experience buying a new Impreza

Recently bought a car from Arturo Figueroa at Santa Monica Subaru. I went in just to test drive a car, but ended up buying one. They were about as friendly and helpful as you could hope for so I thought there was no point in looking other places. The deal was fair, and everything was handled fine, including them being patient when I had to lift my credit freeze. Arturto also sent an Uber to pick us up to get the car. I really can't think of anything they could have done better. It's nice when things go this smoothly!

My new Subaru forrester

My husband's 2017 Subaru was totaled Friday before Christmas 12/2017 which also totaled other SUV. My husband walked away without injuries. Based on that, he went right back to Subaru & by Thursday of the following week, Eric Howard got him into a 2018 Subaru. I needed a new SUV after 17 years in my RAV & Subaru was not on my list, but once I was there, Eric & Veronica (sales mgr.) took really good care of us & found me a Forrester that made me feel great & had a lot of extras. He went the distance for us & we're very pleased. Driving in LA is not a safe exercise, but the Forrester gives Peace of mind. So ask for Eric Howard if you are shopping for a vehicle even if you weren't thinking about a Subaru- you never know.

I really enjoyed my experience buying a car from Eric Howard. I contacted Subaru Santa Monica via their website, and Eric replied with detailed quotes including the Monroney sticker for each quote. I showed up and bought a car for the exact price Eric quoted me. He made buying a car very straight forward, simple, and enjoyable. Eric even personally delivered the car to my residence after the purchase, so I didn't have to drive home 2 cars that day.

I had my new Forester (2nd) Subaru I have owned) serviced on Friday 13th at Santa Monica Subaru and as always i was very satisfied with the service. The service representative, Irawan Soegono, was ber professional, courteous and completely explained everything to be done on my car. The service was also done in a very timely manner and i enjoyed waiting in the lovely waiting area and latte machines!

I had to replace a key fob and Cristian Duarte helped to accomplish this expeditiously and graciously. Excellent service at the Service Center. He was there at 8am as he indicated. The whole process took about one hour...and he included a car wash. Excellent service in all respects.

Arturo Figueroa and Joey Boktor were really impressive! I hated going to dealerships but these two just might have changed my opinion about them. From the minute my wife and I contact them to the second we drove out with a brand new Forester, everything was immaculate: no pressure, laid back attitude, product knowledge, professionalism....i mean, these guys had it all. No surprises- just a straightforward competively priced

My daughter and I walked into the Santa Monica Subaru dealership this past Saturday, met with Arturo Figueroa who listened carefully to exactly the specifications of the 2018 Impreza my daughter was planning on leasing. While he did not have the exact vehicle on the lot, he did not press us to only consider from the inventory that was on hand but rather assured me that he could have that very same Impreza we were looking for pulled from another one of their dealerships within a day. Arturo then ran some numbers, which while competitive were not as attractive as what the local Subaru dealership close to home had quoted me earlier same day On Sunday I contacted the "local" Subaru dealership to confirm that the very Impreza model with specific options we were shopping for was in fact still available. The salesperson I had been working with assured me that he had it, noting that he purposely keep it at their offsite storage facility until I was able to stop in. After he gave me is best and final price, I told him I would be on my way within 15 minutes. One my drive over just a few minutes later, the "local" salesperson called me back to let me know that unfortunately "another salesman had just sold it". I know understand why the 'local dealership" rates so poorly on Dealer Rater At that point I then texted Arturo letting him know exactly how much my daughter had in her savings account to cover the Impreza's lease payments, asking him if he could do better than what he had quoted us the day before. Within minutes he got back to me with a deal far better than what my "local' dealership has indicated was their best and final offer. One hour later I arrived at the Santa Monica Subaru dealership where Arturo already had the Impreza on site. 90 minutes later all the paperwork was signed -straightforward, no surprises, competitively priced Not only was Arturo was most professional in person, over the phone & in his texts, but has offered (and I accepted) to deliver the Impreza to our house so that he could walk my daughter though all of the car's various features. I would highly recommend Arturo & Santa Monica Subaru to others interested in a Subaru.

Service Adviser Bryan Neville was bright, well informed, and courteous. I previously had an oil leak, and Bryan determined the extent of the leak, front cam covers, and head gaskets. I highly recommend him if your are having any problems with your car.
