Commission before Service

By Not satisfied on 8/4/2019 at 10:09 PM. Helped by 2 sales 1 manager.

I recently purchased a car from this dealership and I must say I had a pretty decent experience up until it was time to negotiate the deal. I was ready to buy, financing already in place and requested a $500 reduction which would’ve only reduced overall price by $700. My sales rep went to their manager Maurice “I believe that was his name” he came over ask me would could he do the keep as a customer and I ask him for the reduction . He then said he could not there was no room. I then reduce my request to $275 which would’ve brought the total down by just that much and he still refused to do so. My question is where’s the customer service in that anything in sakes just about can be negotiated so to lose a customer over $275 is what I call Greedy and lack of Customer Service. So I would say if you’re looking to get the customer service that we all know could be provided if someone was looking at the big picture not the bottom line

I would recommend this dealer.

Service Department is awful

By Experienced Reviewer on 6/19/2019 at 6:43 PM. Helped by Rick.

I have had multiple bad experiences at this dealerships service department. I would not bring my car here for service. I should have stopped going there before now. Not only do they overcharge for simple services, but they also charged me a $120 to diagnose a rattling noise in my car saying I needed new struts at the time, but I later found out with the help of a friend that it was actually a loose screw. We tightened the screw and the noise went away. I am very disappointed with the service at this location.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Bought an expensive piece of junk.

By Elituck81 on 5/10/2019 at 2:29 AM. Helped by Rick-service representative.

I recently purchased a new 2019 Kia Sorento less than 2 weeks ago. It has been in the service department over 3 days now. Check engine light came on with an engine warning the day I bought it BEFORE I EVEN MADE IT HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP!!! Took it up there. I was told the “knock sensor” was bad and needed replacing. They ordered the part, let me know when it came in. Went up there to have it repaired. The service representative told me that it would take 3-4 hrs to complete. I ended up bringing it back a few days later to have them replace the part so that I could leave it up there all day and give them plenty of time to have it ready by the time I needed to leave work. Never heard from them all day. At the end of my work day, I called to see if they were done. I was then told, “oh, yours is the one that won’t be ready until sometime tomorrow.” At this point, they had my car for 6 hrs at least and never called to let me know it wouldn’t be ready that afternoon. I was without a car and needing to leave work to pick my child up at daycare before they closed. They came and picked me up from work, loaned me a car off the lot after I lost it when they told me I would have to pay for a rental. The next day, car is not ready. I was given the excuse that the guy working on it was working on it on and off all day and was getting pulled from my car to work on other cars that were being brought in. Day 3, I get a call at the end of the day saying that my car was repaired, but it ended up being some wires that looked like they had been chewed up by a “creature.” Yes, he said “creature.” Then he asked me if I lived out in the country. He was leaning towards saying that this must have been a “creature” that had chewed my wires after I got home. I advised him that it didn’t matter because the light came on after I left the dealership, before I ever made it home. I was then advised that this was not covered under warranty. The car that was messing up a few miles down the road from buying it was not covered. After I lost my mind at that point, I was told that they would take care of the bill this time, but next time if it was brought in with a similar problem, I would have to pay for it. After the car was “repaired,” I drove it home. Stayed for about 30 min before I left to go eat dinner. Check engine light came on with a warning stating that the engine needed immediate attention. So, as of now, I have had my car for 13 days, it has spent over 3 of those days in the shop, and will be back in the shop tomorrow. I am leaving for vacation in a few days and will now have to deal with a rental car to go out of state in. I feel as though I have made a $40,000+ mistake.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Worst dealership ever

By Disgustedowner on 4/15/2019 at 7:25 PM. Helped by R Wallace, Arthur, Derek, etc, etc.

I had a horrible experience with multiple problems the first time I purchased. They lie and when caught, it takes far too much time to try to reconcile. They'll keep your vehicle for weeks if they have to pay for repairs. Because of Mr Wallace, I thought I would have a positive experience the second time. He wasn't interested in me, only a nice profit. I told him and others not to run a credit report to anyone but KIA because I was only interested in the 0% finance offer. Well, just checked my credit reports a year later to find they ran multiple hard inquiries, knowing I told them not to. So now my Equifax score which was 825 now has nosed dived because of so many hard inquiries. Equifax says University Kia can fix it but they are refusing, covering their ineptness with "she signed a credit application." These people have no sense of right, no desire for satisfied customers. They just want to make as much as as possible, never worry about correcting their blunders. Save your sanity. Go to another dealer. Footnote: After filing my complaint, having them respond by hiding behind the"credit application" excuse, they still refuse to correct the problem.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Disappearing Act

By NeverAgain on 2/7/2019 at 2:27 PM. Helped by Rodney and Cedric.

Charlatans! These guys tell you what you want to hear to lure you in, and then when it comes time to close, It's another story .You let them know what your price is and they get all of your information and run your credit, they tell you that you are approved, and then try to sell you something that's way above your budget.

If you want things done right, Don’t GO to University Kia!!

By Juju15 on 2/5/2019 at 2:07 AM. Helped by Kerry, Arthur.

I took my car in last week because my window regulator failed and they told me that my window shattered. I have the extended platinum warranty (waste of money). They kept the car for a week, and wanted me to pay $375 for another window and $100 for the deductible. I was told that the deductible covers the diagnostic. When I tried to speak with the manager he didn’t care to listen to the problem at hand, and days later avoided me when I came in to more problems. Long story short, I didn’t let KIA repair the window. I took the car elsewhere. I paid $175 total. I had my car back the same day. Turns out the window was NOT broken and did NOT need to be replaced!!!! Stay away from this dealership!!! All they do is lie and collect money. If I could give them NO STARS that would be my rating.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Just want return a phone call

By lisa01 on 1/31/2019 at 5:49 PM. Helped by Author , Maurice ,Lenny.

I call all day for Arthur a manager to call back , another whole day has past , still haven’t called back. I call about 4:30pm I talked to.,a Maurice he told me that he would call me back meter call this is another manager. They are so unprofessional there I would not recommend no one to go and buy a car from there. From the service department to the managers to the warranty’s they are all full of xxxx, and all they do is sit there playing with there phones. After I couldn’t get any one to call me back I went up there they were all there playing with there phones, but have the people answering. the phone lying , like they just stepped out that place is a joke

Beware of Shady Business Tactics

By Bpender on 10/20/2018 at 8:28 PM. Helped by Zack, floor manager.

I've never written a bad review before, but University Kia used a "bait and switch" tactic today that I would consider at least unethical and possibly illegal. University Kia had a used vehicle listed on several websites, and they confirmed the price of the vehicle both over the phone and in person. After we test drove the vehicle and were prepared to purchase it, the floor manager informed us that the price had gone up $600+ and that they would not honor the listed or quoted price. They also would not honor their ongoing promotion of $500 off a new or used vehicle, though the vehicle should not have been excluded from the deal. If their price on a vehicle seems lower than neighboring dealerships, it is probably too good to be true. I'd recommend making a purchase through one of Huntsville's more reputable dealers.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Bait and Switch

By Dpender on 10/20/2018 at 5:08 PM. Helped by Sales Manager.

BAIT AND SWITCH is the name of their game. I came to see a car they had listed and had a verbal agreement on a price with Zack (nice guy) we decided to go grab a coffee to think about it and when we came back they wouldn’t honor the agreed upon price. I thought they were joking at first but the sales manager came out and was extremely rude and very demeaning to me, my wife, and my father. I had a print out of our agreed upon price from their website and another from CarGurus but they refused to honor it. On top of everything they wouldn’t honor their “coupon “ of $500 off from their website. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you AVOID this dealership in it entirety, at least until they change their management.

Be Careful when you buy here

By Nate_nonyabusiness on 12/17/2017 at 2:02 AM. Helped by William Wilford (I think).

I bought a brand new 2014 Kia Sorento AWD from University Kia. So let me say the buying experience here was as good as any other place I've purchased cars. They weren't too pushy and with a little fore-knowledge they were easy to haggle with. Here's my issue, I paid over $1000 dollars in authentic Kia accessories that I bought the same time I bought the car and had them installed by the dealership. Now here I am 58,000 miles later and the wiring harness that goes with the trailer hitch I purchased has burned out. Instead of installing an authentic Kia part, the ########'s at University used aftermarket parts so now they're not warrantied. Now I'm stuck with a couple hundred dollar repair bill for something that should be covered by the bumper to bumper warranty but isn't because they didn't install what I payed for. Now I'm dealing with Kia customer service to try to get this resolved. Just please be careful when you buy here so you don't get screwed like I did.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Not satisfied

By Cindy0531 on 8/31/2017 at 11:09 PM. Helped by Cedric McGinnis.

This was our 3rd time to buy a car and since we loved our other Kia's@kia Motorsports we went to University Kia#universitykia#notmykia We were met my Cedric when we walked in. Nice guy. We told him we wanted a Kia 2017 Sportage turbo @kiamotorsports. He said no problem. We wanted to test drive one. Well they didn't have a turbo but they had a regular Sportage. He said did matter they all drive the same.(first lie). We said let's take a test drive. We get in the car and the fuel gauge is flashing. I said I guess it will be a short test drive. Cedric says well you can pull in the gas station and we can get gas. Not on my dime. So we go back to University Kia#UniversityKia#notmykia start working on a deal. I know the car I want but they don't have it. We come to a deal and I give them a deposit. I am promised the car will be there ready to go in the morning(lie number 2 )It wasn't there. Cedric said well it will be here by the next morning ( lie 3) still not there. I email him several times asking where's my car I get no response. I finally call him. Now keep in mind they know all along where my car is. I finally get a hold of him and say where's my car. Well it could be in Florence, Decatur maybe Dothan. They knew it was in Dothan that's why it wasn't there. So he says give me an hour or so. I do and no phone call. I call Cedric back and ask where is my car. He says well it's in Dothan so we won't have it until tomorrow. We're sending two guys down to get it. He says now when you get it it will have 300 to 500 miles on it. I tell him that's unacceptable. I am buying a new car. He says it's still a new car. He said well normally when they have that many miles we make it a demo car but it will still be new to you. I said no I want it transported. He talked to his manager and said if I pay the 700 to 800 they'll transport it. I told him I'm not paying that. I tell him my husband is not going to be happy. He talks to my husband around noon and tells him my manager and I are working on a transport deal. I'll call you back. Needless to say he didn't call back. So I told my husband call him back. I knew the whole thing was a lie. Sure thing he tells my husband well we already send the guys to get it so there's nothing we can do. Oh yes there is be honest. So my husband told him I'll be in there in a half hour have my refund ready. We picked up the refund. Then next morning Cedric calls to ask it I bought a new car. I said yes and by the way did you keep the title for my trade in? He said yes. I ask if I could come get it. He said yes I said ok I'll see you in a little while. When I got there I didn't see him so I had him paged. After a half hour I went to ask the girl to page him again. She said he's on his way. Now while I was standing there for over a half hour the owner and general manager walked by me several times never said a word to me. Cedric finally came gave me my title and I was on my way. I would have waited for the car if they just would have been truthful and honest and transported it. Bye bye Kia.@kiamotorsports#notmykia#universitykia

Disappointing and lied too.

By Disappointed on 3/4/2017 at 12:24 AM. Helped by Calvin Owens.

I purchased a 2017 Kia Sorrento from this dealer on 2/11/17 and at the time of purchase the salesman and the sales manager told me they would furnish me a Cargo Mat for the vehicle. I was told to come in on 2/13/17 to pick it up I talked to the sales manager and he went back to parts and then came and told me it was not there and they would call me and let me know when it came in. Then I was told to come back on 2/17/17 because it had not come in. Then on 2/24/17. I contacted the salesman on 2/24/17 and he said he would go back and build a fire under the parts people and get it right away. On 3/3/17 I called the parts department and they said no one had ordered a cargo mat for my car. I called the salesman twice and could not get him to return my calls. These people lied to me not once but several times. Now I will have to drive 20 miles to another dealer to get it serviced because I will not deal with liars an cheaters. After contacting the Kia Corporate office my Cargo Mat was received within a couple days.

Thank you Kia for my new car and the great experience I had with Mr. Sawyer today. It was well worth the visit. I highly recommend Kia to everyone who is looking to buy a car!
