Unhappy with poor service, hidden charges, long wait time.

I live in SC but needed an oil change/tire rotation in Kansas City. I scheduled an appointment for Sat. morning. The check-in went fine. When I got my car back 2 1/2 hrs. later, the charge was more than $107, and they wanted to do another $160 in "repairs", which I refused. They charged me for fuel treatment and oil conditioner, both of which I was never informed about nor given the chance to refuse prior to service. They also charged me for 6 qts. of oil, when my vehicle only holds 5. Then they added the oil conditioner, which made the oil level way above the 'full' mark. When I checked under the hood before leaving the dealership, I saw that the housing where the oil filter sits had not been wiped clean prior to installing the new filter. When I returned the next Mon. to meet with the Service Manager, he talked a good talk, but it sounded like just a load of BS.The work order said the lug nuts would be torqued to 100 ft. lbs. The Subaru specs call for 89 ft. lbs. for my vehicle. That was blamed on "computer error". same with the 6 qts. of oil. Until management starts training their service people better, don't expect anything better. Go somewhere else.

Don't buy from this dealership

I made an appointment to see about purchasing a new 2020 Ascent Subaru. I expected much more than I got. The first thing I was asked was what color I wanted and what color interior. I told the salesman and he said they did not have it in stock. First of all, I have never ever test driven a Subaru. I don't know whether I would like how it handles. I was never offered a test drive. They did bring up a different color of the Ascent for me to look at the inside but when I asked questions about different buttons inside I was told that after I made my purchase a tech guy would go over all of that with me. They assumed they had a guaranteed sale. After getting a price I wanted for the car I had planned on purchasing, I was told I was done. Salesman said "You can leave now." After thinking about it over night about how I was treated I changed my mind and decided I would never buy from them.

Pretty miserable waits

This place has the most cramped, unfriendly customer area I've seen in years. (For a refreshing change, try Tiffany Springs Honda, fish tank and all.) There are two small waiting areas, and both have TVs blaring awful daytime women's "talk" stuff. There isn't a place to escape it. Why not one little quiet TV free area? Why not some space instead of cramming everybody together? If they are to offer coffee, how about making the coffeemaker functional? This has grown to be a bigger issue as wait times have gotten longer. Now it is a couple of hours for an oil change service, so often the waiting areas are really too full. The staff are always courteous and the actual maintenance and repair services are as good as ever. (Caveat: my car is now in for repair. Day and a half, no word from the shop yet.) Meanwhile, a lot of sales people around. You can buy a car in minutes.

WORST SERVICE EVER!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THESE GUYS TO GET FIXED, OR PERFORM ANY RECALL ITEMS!!!!!! I NEVER had trouble with my Subaru UNTIL I took it to these sheisters! I live 1 1/2 hours from them in the country. I had a recall on my passenger seat airbag. I took it to them to get it fixed. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot, my car began acting very different! I called them and they said it would have had nothing to do with the recall they fixed - even though they told me they had to TAKE THE ENTIRE FRONT DASHBOARD OFF TO FIX THE AIRBAG. I reluctantly drove home. After getting the worst gas mileage I’ve ever gotten and then having the entire eyesight system freeze up and then the parking brake refusing to disengage, I called them back to tell them that ever since they touched my car it has been terrible and now I was stranded!!! The guy on the phone was condescending and told me too bad. The problems I was having had nothing to do with the recall so I was out of luck. Told me to tow my car back to them the 1 1/2 hours and they would give me a BID ON HOW MUCH TO FIX THE PROBLEMS THEY CREATED!!!!!!!!! I asked him for suggestions on how to reset the eyesight system and he told me no. Basically, too bad!!!! I have maintained my car according to manufacture schedule, never let an oil change be overdue and for 122,000 miles I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH MY OUTBACK until after they touched it!!!!!! In fact, I had the oil changed and the tires rotated a couple of days before I took it in on the recall. The mechanic told me that my car was in pristine shape and should be good for another 100.000 miles!!!!!! SO, SO SORRY I TOOK IT TO THESE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

Service Appt for Replacement of Passenger Side Airbag

Scheduled an afternoon appointment to get air bag replaced which was under recall. Said it would take 3 hours, and that I could wait. Brought car in, said they had several other cars ahead of me and that I would have to leave it overnight. The Svc Manager did NOT call to indicate this change, nor did he offer a loaner car, I ended up rescheduling for another day a week later, and this time dropped the car off in the morning and picked it up in the evening. Not even an apology for the inconvenience. My next car service will not be performed by this Van dealership!

CAN'T GET REGISTRATION PAPERWORK

I purchased a used car from this dealership on 12/4/2018. On 12/26/2018, I still did not have the title paperwork, so I called the salesman. I was told, "It just arrived today." After an unsuccessful trip to the DMV, I was told that I cannot get the lien release from the previous lien holder unto MAYBE the end of the day on New Years Eve...and my dealer tags expire on 1/2/19. This has been the WORST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! I WILL NEVER BUY FROM VAN SUBARU AGAIN!!!

Van Subaru has consistently been knowledgeable, professional, and honest over the years. They provide great service without trying to oversell unnecessary repairs. They are patient when we have questions and want a deeper understanding of what is going on with our car.

Service Dpt had my car for a 1.5 days and no service done

My 2017 Outback was taken over there on 8/23/18 from the Van bodyshop. They were supposed to recalibrate the eyesight, do an oil change and a tire rotation. I called and setup this appointment over a week in advance and was told at that time by Lisa it would all be taken care of. I rented a car for 2 days because I was told that the service department would need plenty of time to do this but was assured that the day and a half that they would have my car would be plenty of time. Van bodyshop also spoke to them about this an was told the same thing. I called them at approx 2:00 on 8/24/18 to check on the progress and when I gave my name they said I had to speak to Preston and they transferred me over. He did not answer the phone and never called me back. I got there at approx. 4pm on 8/24/18 and although my windshield was replaced like the body shop said it would be, came to find out that the service department did NOTHING on my car. No oil change, no tire rotation, no calibration and no explanation! It is now Monday, 8/27/18 and I have left 2 messages with the service manager Steve and no call back. What is wrong with these people? I bought my car from them but obviously after the purchase they are not interested in keeping you as a customer.

Great Start!!

After experiencing no help on major repair in Olathe.....Van was quick to assist, and they were friendly and courteous!! Also, it did not take more than 1 business day to get in. Olathe takes days or weeks just to schedule oil change!! I have hope after many trips to Olathe that Van will find my issue.

Bad service department

It took over a hour and a half and me explaining again . And for Andrew to Liston befor they checked the fuses. Got charged for two hours of labor for two fuses and a reset. And they kept my car for over a day. And while waiting there were two others there that was not happy . They were also out of loaner cars for I and another lady there . How long does it take to know it’s a blown fuse from a certified technician ?

Van dealership Dishonest about extended service contract

Exceeded All Expectations

Guy Merola, Marcus West, and Scott Brown made our car buying experience more than pleasant. Guy and Marcus worked very hard over a number of days to put us in our 2nd Subaru while Scott made the paperwork a hoot. And because of that, Sarah and I just want to say, “THANKS FOR EXCEEDING ALL EXPECTATIONS!” We’re not the most pleasant auto buyers, like most consumers, we’ve been taught by the industry that buying a car is expensive, combative, and worst of all, time consuming. I met with Guy and Marcus for a few minutes on Tuesday so they could value our trade (a 2013 Outback), and to clarify expectations. A couple 5 minute phone calls later, Sarah and I showed up on Saturday afternoon for her to pick out her new Subaru. These guys built favorable financing, they listened, they were prepared when we stepped on the lot, but best of all they didn’t eat our time. Sarah and I are value shoppers, and the least brand loyal customers you will find, but after 78,000 miles in our first Subaru we are now a part of the Subaru family, (In fact this is the 2nd Subaru purchased by our immediate family in as many weeks). The only thing that could make owning a Subaru better, is buying one from Guy, Marcus and Scott at Van Subaru. Happy Motoring,

Overcharged and ignored

I toook my vehicle in for routine maintenance service and Van Subaru charged me nearly $600.00! They sell you an engine carbon cleaning service that is of questionable benefit. I basically had the brakes flushed, oil and filter changed and tires rotated and the aforementioned engine flush. A few days later, I called and asked to speak to the service manager with the intention of inquiring why I had been charged what I believe is an excessive amount. I know this because I called around to a non-dealer shop and they quoted figures significantly less than half. I was told Steve would return my call. I never heard from him. Totally dissatisfied and feel ripped-off. Is this how you want to be treated by your mechanic?

Quick and Easy

Called the dealership and negotiated a price on a new 2018 Outback. They didnt have the interior color I wanted and they worked to get me the car i wanted in just a couple days. Salesman Vitalii had the car pulled around ready when I arrived.

We have two great Legacy s, but am unlikely to buy another Subaru due to consistent issues with Vans maintenance department. Nice people but not problem solvers, poor Q/A and hard to contact management.

Great place to purchase a car

I went to Van Subaru to trade in my 2016 Ford Escape that I was paying entirely to much for, John Gillock was my sales representative that I had and let me tell you I put him to the test. Not only did I have a list of things I wanted, price range, special features, I also had my 18 month old with me. Not only did he meet my needs with my car request giving me a great trade in-value and the best possible deal on my 2018 Subaru Impreza and walked me through step by step during the car buying process, he also helped TREMENDOUSLY with my son. They had a great train set to keep him entertained, they let him sit in the vehicles, had snacks readily available. The staff went above and beyond with their customer service! Van Subaru will forever have my business and I strongly recommend them!

An amazing experience!

I went to Van Subar look for a new car with no intention of buying another just yet. I read multiple not-so-glowing reviews of Van and I had my reservations... I couldn't have been met with the total opposite of what I've read. From start to finish I had nothing but an excellent experience and would encourage anyone interested in a Subaru to give Van a chance. My Jeep was in pretty bad condition so I knew I'd need something new. My intention was to test drive a Crosstrek as I liked the body style. Upon seeing it in person, I quickly realized it wasn't for me. Enter Guy Merola; Guy and I talked for a while about what all my family vehicular needs are and I tried a Forester and immediately fell in love. After talking for a while about pricing and financing we came to an estimate. The price between basically all 'needs' and 'wants' was only about $15 a month. I happily drove out with exactly what I wanted at a very reasonable price. I am sorry to hear others have had poor experiences, but mine was absolutely not one. Guy did all the leg work and was superb. He worked with Jeremy, Derek, Blake, and a couple others and got me exactly what I wanted in a vehicle and at a price I could afford. Guy, thank you so, so very much or making this a painless, and honestly enjoyable, experience. I encourage everyone to go see him as well as everyone at Van.
