Customer service on buying used xc 70

By John on 7/28/2017 at 4:34 PM. Helped by Josh, yan and the owner.

Been looking for used xc 70 and came across a great deal from this dealership. They were honest, friendly and had great customer service. I live 45 minutes from the dealer and they offered to drop the car off to my house or work after I purchased it. Car was totally serviced and they stood behind everything. A week later I notched ed all 4 of the new tires had indentations on them. Brought car back to dealer and the owner even came out to see the tires and immediately said they will replace them. He was as dumbfounded as I was why the tires looked like tha since they were brand new. Josh and Yan were the sales people and were extremely professional. I would recommend this dealer to anyone looking to purchase a volvo

I would recommend this dealer.

Excellent experience with Yan Gorokhovskiy, Shane Tate & ...

By c4319232 on 5/30/2017 at 9:15 PM. Helped by Jason Glover, Yan Gorokhovskiy, Shane Tate.

I purchased a 2011 preowned SUV and had an excellent experience with BDC Jason Glover, Sales rep Yan Gorokhovskiy and Business Finance Manager Shane Tate. I had gone to so many other dealerships that didn’t understand what I was trying to do, and Shane and Yan made the process very simple. I almost didn’t go through with the deal because of my own misunderstanding over paperwork, and Yan reached out to me and had me come in person to talk about what I was confused about. Shane went over information that other dealerships did not, and explaining the extended warranty in detail as well as different types of protection, and also helped clear up confusion that I had regarding paperwork. Other dealers may do the same thing, but Shane was more detailed that most Finance Managers. Jason, the Business Development Manager [BDC], was very helpful by phone and even before the dealership opened on Saturday [5/27/2017] called me before the dealership opened to talk about any questions that I may have had. He even offered the dealership to pick up customers when the car had the inspection sticker. Yan is very friendly, funny, energetic, and outgoing. I enjoyed his humor and he explained as much information about the car that he could and spent an additional 20 minutes helping me figure out the back row of the car, which I appreciated. He offered a choice of driving 15-minutes, whatever comfort level that I had as the driver, which was wonderful. I highly recommend this dealer.

I would recommend this dealer.

Worst Dealership around!

By Mission on 7/11/2016 at 4:34 PM. Helped by Josh Conly, Product Manager.

Minus the shady sales tactics, to include the old bait and switch, this dealership refused to take back an end of term lease that originally came from their lot. The previous owner, Farrell Volvo, had much higher standards!! Had to drive out of my way to find another dealership that would take back the lease. I would not refer this dealership to my worst enemy.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Great service and very accommodating

By TFrankelArch on 5/4/2016 at 1:36 PM. Helped by Brad.

I started bringing my 2007 S60 R for service to Southboro Volvo late last year. I am very particular about my car, so finding a dealership to service my car has been challenging. So far I am very pleased with the service I have received. The staff are professional, friendly and very accommodating. Every time my car is in for service, they have provided a complimentary loaner car. All loaner cars are new models, and very clean. The service department worked with the warranty company to get parts replaced, even went the extra mile to get a few parts replaced after a previous unrelated warrantied repair and waived the deductible. In terms of accommodating, I have even called on my way to work with a flat tire, they were able to take care of it that morning. I would highly recommend this dealership's service department.

I would recommend this dealer.

3 Red Flages Followed By A Relieved Walk Out

By MikeC on 4/2/2015 at 10:13 PM. Helped by Scott (was fine) + a "Business Manager".

I called ahead about a 2008 XC70 on sales for $14,888 (VIN: YV4BZ982681032785). Seemed like a pretty Took it for a test drive … seemed like a decent car for the price. Sales guy told me that it’s been completely gone over, fixed anything/everything, new tires, etc. We got around to price and there was a discussion about a “doc” fee, but we settled on a reasonable price – pretty close to the asking price, but as I quickly learned this was a Type 2 Volvo Dealer.” There seems to be two types of Volvo dealers: 1) the type that are genuinely happy that you like their cars and actually want to work with you and meet your needs and 2) the type that actually think they’re doing you a favor by selling you their cars and seem to question your Volvo worthiness. This is clearly the latter. The price negotiation was Red Flag #1. I then asked if I can have my mechanic check it out. They wouldn’t let me take the car ~40 miles to my home town in So. NH. After a short discussion about how great their mechanics are and the thoroughness of their work, they agreed. They asked for a deposit and when it came to the conditions for returning the deposit, the discussion with the “Business Manager” – apparently the keeper of this dealer’s Type 2 culture – went into “used car sales” mode. He wanted to make return of the deposit based solely on issues related to safety -- issues that would prevent a successful MA state inspection. After much debate, I offered half the deposit we discussed earlier and told them I would report back on what I found, if anything, and would decide to buy the car, or not, at that time. The deposit return condition discussion was Red Flag #2. I brought the car to the local mechanic, and after about 45 minutes later he came out and told me that the car was in good condition – except that it had a leak coming from the left side rear differential – a major component in the car’s drive train. Seemed easy enough to fix, I thought. When I returned to the dealer and presented the mechanic’s report, the environment become somber. The sales guy took the report into the back, I heard some faint discussion and then he came out and said “they must’ve missed that”. Odd comment, I thought, considering how completely the car was supposedly checked out and the fact that they were the Volvo “experts”. I asked him if they were going to take care of that. He asked me if we could split the cost and I told him no. After all, the engine, transmission & drive train came with a 30-day warranty. A few minutes later, the “Business Manager” came out and starting giving me the “business” again. How they weren’t responsible for anything above & beyond what’s required to pass inspection. I then asked if he was willing to kill the deal over what he claimed was a $200-300 part that wasn’t supposed to be broken, and he said they would have to charge me for the repair. Charging me for something that they were adamant wasn’t there beforehand and then insisting that I pay for it while it was supposedly “under warranty” was Red Flag #3. As I was walking out the door, it dawned on me that I probably just “dodged a bullet”. I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather pay a little more for a car vs. dealing with untrustworthy, irresponsible and Type 2 Volvo dealers. Perhaps that’s the reason why they recently changed the name of this dealership from Farrelll Volvo to Volvo of Southboro. p.s. If you do end up buying that Volvo XC70, I highly recommend that you take a close look at its rear differential.

I would not recommend this dealer.

An enjoyable place to buy a Volvo

By sjulier on 7/14/2014 at 12:42 AM. Helped by Jim Farrell.

I recently purchased a used 2004 V70 wagon from Jim Farrell at Farrell Volvo. The vehicle was in exceptional condition, just as Jim told me over the phone. Any service that was needed had been performed - no corners were cut. The car was waiting for me to test drive when I arrived and performed as I expected. There was no hard selling or pushy tactics. Just an honest description of the car's condition. The price was more than fair given the routine maintenance that Farrell had performed and the overall quality of the vehicle. I could not be more pleased.

I would recommend this dealer.

The dealer to buy your next Volvo from

By DrCee on 7/3/2014 at 10:52 AM. Helped by Josh Conly.

I actually used this site to base my buying decision and am not disappointed. In the past I had bough my car from a nearby Toyota dealer and the experience was scarily awful. Also statistically, women of color receive very bad deals when buying cars and I was apprehensive when embarking on this purchase. Josh Conly made my experience enjoyable and positively memorable without the "hard nose" car sales tactics. He was courteous and professional yet friendly. The best part of the experience was that they made me feel like a valued customer and truly showed that they appreciated my business. Josh was patient, kind, knowledgeable, courteous, open/honest and upfront. I think that I can safely say this this is now my dealership of choice. When a friend needs a car, when my son needs a car, when a colleague needs a car, I will definitely recommend Farrell Volvo. I am a very happy customer and was happy to give them my business.

I would recommend this dealer.

I was greeted promptly, the service was done on time and explained in detail. The price was reasonable given the type of service. Other dealers charge twice as much for the same service. Car was returned washed and vacuumed.

Emailed with Josh for information, and then visited this dealership to test drive the new C70. Everyone at the dealership is very laid-back and helpful (at least in the showroom, didn't visit the service part). Got to test drive the car, and everyone was knowledgeable and straight-forward with answers to my questions. In the end, I didn't get the convertible because it didn't really fit my needs (maybe next time). Found the people at the dealership pleasant though and wouldn't hesitate to go back when I'm ready.

I would recommend this dealer.

By volvobuff on 10/4/2010 at 7:09 PM. Helped by Josh Conly.

I have bought three Volvos from this salesman at this dealership and am about to buy a fourth. They have consistently provided me with a friendly, hassle-free, efficient, and professional buying experience and rock-bottom pricing as well. After having had negative buying experiences at a number of other Volvo dealerships that are much closer to my home, I will gladly drive the greater distance to Farrell Volvo for the superb sales and service that they provide. They are the best Volvo dealership in the eastern Massachusetts area by far. Their inventory is small, so every car has, at least for a picky customer like me, been a special-order item. However, I feel that two months is a reasonably short waiting time. Their sales manager Thor (great name for a Nordic marque dealership!) has been extremely accommodating and persistent in getting me exactly the cars I wanted. The only criticisms I can offer is that the customer waiting area for service appointments is small, bare-bones, and somewhat lacking in amenities, and that they no longer provide new or used Volvos as loaner cars, only shabby rental econoboxes. The latter are at least free of charge and do provide minimal basic transportation, but they do not provide the luxury experience that Volvo owners have a right to expect.

I would recommend this dealer.

Found the year/model/color volvo we wanted online and went to dealer. Josh very knowledgeable and had a great car (18,000 miles) with certified warranty. When we went back to pick up the car they had added 2 new tires and new brake pads even though the originals still met specs. Very impressed. 10,000 miles later still very happy with car.

I would recommend this dealer.

By mdonovan on 2/24/2010 at 3:31 PM. Helped by service manger.

The service department was unable to fix multiple problems on a certified per-owned volvo. Problems began immediately after purchasing a 1 yo pre-owned vehicle that had the 300 point inspection. The people who work in the service department are cold. After bringing the car in almost weekly they still remained unwilling to help or be courteous.

I would not recommend this dealer.
