Dealer backed out of a signed contract, due to their error

By Mn veteran on 4/17/2019 at 12:26 AM. Helped by Emmerson.

My wife and I have purchased 4 vehicles in the past 4 years from walser. 2 new jeeps a new ram and a used van for my mother. The lease on my ram was about done went on like normal, they helped me and we signed a new contract for a 2019 ram financing was done was to get a call 2 days later to let me know when to come pick up my new truck. Instead I get a call telling me they want 1600.00 down instead of the 200 in the contract, I was disgusted and they told me that .y financing had been un-approved...funny that does not happen, thought about it review the paperwork called them and told them I was going to shop around.. they did not seem to care if I went somewhere else...so I went to waconia ram, they looked over they paperwork and found walser error and explained that someone had quoted too low of price and they were just trying to play a game to get out of it. This worked out for the best, waconia got me 8500 in discounts and rebates in stead of the 4000 that walser was getting me. I would not recommend walser ,, I would recommend waconia ram it will save you money or get you more truck for the same price as a lesser truck from walser

I would not recommend this dealer.

”Take-Two”

By AmyF on 3/8/2019 at 5:20 PM. Helped by Jordan and Jayc.

I recently had my 2013 Dodge Dart in for service. I knew I had a bad blower motor. The code also read blower motor well.....they only changed the resistor so two days later I was back for a blower motor. That was disappointing but I have heat now. I guess second times a charm. Jordan checked me in and he was awesome even the second time when I was crabby. But my big kudo is to Jayc. She is wonderful. She was always in contact with me via text or calls. Give her a raise (Jordan too). Hopefully I won’t be back soon but that is and will be my dealership!!!! Thanks. Amy

Stumped!

By C7 Buyer on 1/20/2019 at 3:22 AM. Helped by Not sure, said he was Sales Manager but never got a card..

Craziest thing happened to me today, I drove over to buy a 2010 Corvette and the Sales Manager was paged to help me, everyone else was busy with customers. I told him I would like to look at the Black Corvette, he went and got the keys for the car and this is the crazy part....The battery was dead from sitting so he tells me that they will bring it in when it warms up(This is December in MN so I guess I have to wait until April) to charge the battery, I told him I drove a long ways to see this car but it seemed to me like he had zero interest in moving this car off the lot, he never got my name or phone # to see If I wanted to come back when the car was running. We had a brief and I mean brief discussion on a trade and all he could say it that we are a one price dealer and the price is not negotiable. I drove away wondering how many cars Walser could sell if the sales manager knew how to sell a car. I assume they made him a manager because of his sales background, ability to train and customer service but today must have been a bad day for the poor sap.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Terrible service and no communication. They don't care about the customer only about charging you for work they don't stand behind. I agree with worst dealer in the midwest and to stay away from this dealership!

Worst dealer in the midwest.

By mikeaaaa on 12/20/2018 at 12:12 AM. Helped by Nand.

I have repeatedly asked for help on service issues and he has done nothing. I STRONGLY recommend staying away from this dealership. I have purchased many cars across the metro and this is by far the worst dealer I've ever been to. $90,000 Jeep has sat in there for over 100 days in past 12 months. Don't go here.

Horrible Customer Service and buying experience

By Andrew04 on 12/9/2018 at 1:46 AM. Helped by Jeff and Nadia.

I purchased a Range Rover Sport from this dealer. Unfortunately the sales advisor was unfamiliar with this type of SUV and the options that were available on it, so I had to call the Range Rover dealership to find out what options were included on the SUV. I cannot believe the entire buying process took 5-hours to complete, which is way too long to wait. Never being offered a beverage or a snack the entire time! During review of the paperwork my husband noticed she charged us twice for licensing and pointed that out to the sales advisor she started to argue with him only to find out it was her mistake. During the test drive the back door handle was sticking and the bottom molding clip was broken I pointed that out to her. I did end up bringing my vehicle into service to see if their service department could repair it but they were unable to fix. I reached out to let her know it was not repaired and she responded that I was lying and to take it to the Range rover dealer to get both issues fixed. I also requested the Repair order several times so I would know what was completed or repaired on the vehicle. I finally received it after sending several emails and text messages over a 2-week period. I do love the car but I felt like the entire process was so unprofessional and a less than first class buying experience. If I treated and followed up with my customers the way this organization does I would be unemployed!

I would not recommend this dealer.

Slow service and rude staff

By Disappointed customer on 10/18/2018 at 10:53 PM. Helped by Evan in service..Eric belligerent service manager and GM.

2014 Dodge Challenger had engine water damage. Car was towed to Walser in Hopkins. Requested new engine instead of the used one covered by insurance and owner would pay out of pocket. Walser was supposed to order on 10/1. On 10/13, owner requested tracking. Walser said they received the engine 10/15. At that point, a car that's been waiting for service for three weeks gets put at the end of the queue. No updates from dealership service. They're busy...could be two to three weeks yet!! If you can afford to be without your vehicle for six ro eight weeks, have Walser work on your vehicle! Rude service manager (Eric) and GM mimics what he said! I have had all service for.this vehicle done at Walser. No customer service..lost me as a customer!

terrible customer service

By buyer on 10/15/2018 at 10:28 PM. Helped by nate paul.

I just purchased a used vehicle from Hopkins Walser and have been made to feel like I am inconveniencing them to give them my money. I had contacted a sales person by phone regarding an online add. I asked if they work on commission and was informed that they are commission based and that he would appreciate me looking him up when I came in, so I stated that I would text him prior to coming in and make sure to look him up when I got there. I sent the salesman a text in the morning the day he said he was going to be in with the time frame that I would be there. I never received a response from him but still went in as I was interested in the vehicle not the sales man. I figured I would still give him the opportunity to show me the vehicle when I got there if he was interested. Upon arriving at Walser I looked him up and they said to have a seat that he would be with me shortly. I waited 15 minutes and decided that it was time for a different sales person, they said they were sorry and that they would get someone out. After taking the vehicle for a test drive I had a couple of concerns and the service department stated that they would have a mechanic take it and check it out . After going out on a test drive with the mechanic to take note of my concerns, the mechanic reassured me that if I was to purchase the vehicle they had a great service department and would take care of all of the problems noted. Feeling reassured from talking to the mechanic and the service rep, I then purchased the vehicle and opted to leave it there to have it fixed ASAP. I have left a number of messages with the 2 different salesmen I worked with to find out what is happening with the vehicle, I stated I would just like to know the status so I can plane accordingly. its been a total of 3 work days and still no answers, no responses. I would highly recommend not buying a new or used vehicle from Walser, there customer service is terrible. As a customer you are an inconvenience to them, They just want your money. I have purchased many new and used vehicles and have never had this kind of treatment. I think the Walser mechanic can do a better job of selling a car than the sales department.

I would not recommend this dealer.

unable to diagnose problem

By Theresa on 8/24/2018 at 9:21 PM. Helped by Mike, Erik (service).

Walser replaced the heater core on my car in May 2016. By September 2017 the car was leaking antifreeze smoke into the passenger cabin through the vents and Walser said the new heater core had failed. They replaced that under a Mopar parts warranty at no cost. Last week, the same leaking happened. Walser claimed the heater core had again failed but insisted that the warranty would no longer cover replacement. This didn't seem right to me so I took the car to a different shop. The new shop diagnosed a bad radiator cap, and replaced the radiator cap. The car has been fine since. Walser just didn't seem willing to work with me to help resolve an issue that shouldn't have occurred three times (who ever heard of a heater core failing three times in 27 months?). Not only that, but they apparently cannot even diagnose a bad radiator cap. I'm not sure if it's ineptness or dishonesty but either way I won't be back. What would have been a $1400 repair actually turned out to be a $50 fix.

I would not recommend this dealer.

They do not do business like they use to

By Minnes0ta on 4/26/2018 at 10:18 PM. Helped by Emerson.

Purchased our fourth vehicle (2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited) from Walser in February. I noticed some annoying noises (but nothing alarming) from the heating/cooling system and called to report the issue and was told to come in when I could. I attempted to schedule several times over the next few weeks but kept getting put on hold and disconnected. I finally was able to get into the dealership this month to learn that there was a radiator leak which is not covered under warranty. They won't help cover the repair despite this being an existing issue but they did inform me that there was a $100 coupon I could use on the $1000 repair.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Love the vehicle, hate the service.

By partin1j on 7/14/2017 at 3:27 AM. Helped by Maura, Nand.

Second vehicle I've ever bought from a dealership. It just so happens they had a used car we liked. So we checked it out and decided to buy it. All paperwork seemed to go good. There was a few services that were offered to us, and the price would be added to our total. My wife and I were having a hard time deciding if we wanted some of these services. The salesperson told us it was cheaper to buy them now then add them later. She also said if we buy them they are easy to cancel, and the total would go down, giving us lower payments. I bought the car on Friday with 3 extra services. Called on Monday canceling 2 of the 3 services. Turns out these services are very hard to cancel, and my total did not go down. The salesperson could not do anything for us, strange. so started dealing with the manager, what a pain. He didn't answer my calls, and took a long time to respond to my emails. I did finally get some checks back but not for the right amounts. So still here 2 months later and still not finished. Long story short, love the car but the service sucks. Will not be going back to this walker dealer or any other for that matter.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Stellar service, be sure to ask for Max!

By MLappinDay on 3/14/2017 at 8:22 PM. Helped by Max Elliott.

Bottom line: if you are car shopping, go to Walser and make sure to ask for Max. We just bought a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited from the Walser in Hopkins and the experience was top-notch. We narrowed down our desired vehicle to two models, and we started with the Jeep. Boy did we luck out! We went to Walser and met with Max Elliott. He was so knowledgeable about the Limited, as well as all other Jeep models. Max asked questions about our day-to-day lifestyle, listened to our wish list and was able to make recommendations based on what would suit us the best. I think the no-commission approach at Walser really allows the sales staff to advise each customer based on what suits him/her instead of based on money. Everyone at Walser was so nice and welcoming, genuinely interested in giving us the best experience possible. Even though we went on a Saturday and the place was buzzing, they made us feel like their most important customer. Max advised us to explore their website on Sunday to make sure we found a model that had everything we wanted, which turned out to be GREAT advice! I didn't even KNOW that I wanted a panoramic sunroof:) We found one at a nearby Walser, and texted Max. Even though it was Sunday, he responded right away and the Jeep of our dreams was at the Hopkins lot on Monday and we purchased it that night. When we got home, we noticed 3 small dents (that had been called out with arrows by the first dealership). We called Max and even though WE had missed it during our shopping experience, HE apologized to US and they are fixing it right away for no additional charge. We couldn't have asked for a better car shopping experience.

I would recommend this dealer.

Do NOT go here for used cars unless you want slimy!

By G0IRISH on 8/19/2016 at 2:09 PM. Helped by Maura Mena.

We were looking for a Jeep Wrangler considering both new and used. The team was professional on the new side however we couldn't get the figures to work within our budget so we decided to look more for a used vehicle. A few days after our visit we got an email showing a price decrease on a vehicle we had tagged as a potential match. Now in our price range, I immediately called the representative we were working with and sent my children over to inspect it within the hour as I was out of town on business. They loved it and as the Jeep was exactly what we were looking for so I called the representative and asked her to start preparing the paperwork. I also asked about putting a deposit down via credit card over the phone, they do not take deposits apparently. Moments later after the kids left super excited about their new car we got another email alert that the price on the vehicle had changed again--now gone up by $1,000 again pushing the vehicle beyond our price range. I forwarded both emails to my representative hopping that meant their "we are on you side" and would stand by their offer. I WILL never visit Walser again and left very disappointed.

I would not recommend this dealer.

2 different experiences, but very happy with Walser

By duane g on 5/24/2016 at 8:51 PM. Helped by Dave - Service manager.

***3rd post*** Walser ended up stepping up to the plate and took care of me 100% after having a bad experience! They took my complaints very serious and had a regional manager AND the service manager, Dave, call me. This is the level of service I received the 1st time I went in. They took care of all the issues I had, and even had 2 guys come to my place to pick up my vehicle to finish the work that needed to be done. It showed me that they really do care about their customers and prove it with their actions. I am back on the Walser band wagon and plan to purchase my next vehicle there in addition to continuing to have my service done there. ( To follow is the issues from my last visit that were thoroughly taken care of, in addition to my first pleasant experience) I've had 2 experiences with Walser. The 1st one, 6 months ago was great. Today, was a horrible experience! I brought my Jeep in for what I found out later was 6 different software issues and the paint on my tow package showing a lot of rust after 1 year of use. The first service rep tried to intimidate me and was absolutly condescending , using phrases like... did you NOT hear what I just told you?? After he walked away and told the other service reps, " I can't deal with this guy" another one came over and was much better and at my request, told me a manager would talk with me about the other rep. Which never happened even after asking a 2nd time. He was either in a meeting or too busy. Because there were 6 different software issues, they said it would take until 3pm but would not give me a loaner even though my lifetime bumper to bumper warranty that I purchased covers loaners. They ended up giving me a shuttle ride to my place. At 2:30, they called and told me my Jeep won't be ready until tomorrow but they will send a shuttle to pick me up and bring me back to get my Jeep and then I can come back tomorrow and have them finish it. I live 20 minutes from them, 30 minutes in rush hour. The rep that called me acted like making that round trip 3 times was no big deal in the middle of my work day! Very cocky, nonchelant with a "just deal with it attitude". I will never go there again and if Jeep doesn't step up and fix the rust on their trailer hitch frame (which, the 1st rep told me they won't do anything about because the paint just rusted off and wasn't pitted), I'll never buy a Jeep again either. OH, The service rep told me I had a 50/50 chance of the software fixes working so my Jeep may continue shifting hard. TO FOLLOW IS THE 1ST VISIT REVIEW- How did the attitude and feel of the entire place change in 6 months?? It went from friendly to ugly....... Had a great experience in service. They kept me well informed, the place was very clean and well layed out to be able to relax and they made sure I was comfortable while I was waiting. The wait time was also reasonable. No complaints. It's a little ways from me but I'm going back with all service needs and, possibly, future buys.

I would recommend this dealer.

Great purchasing experience!

By Dylan D on 4/24/2016 at 1:46 AM. Helped by John Carey and David (general manager).

My wife and I bought a used Jeep Liberty from John Carey today and we couldn't possibly be happier with our purchase or more impressed with the quality of service we received from John and the team at Walser. From the general manager David personally handling our trade in, to the service technicians that hoisted the car up on a lift so we could look under it, all the while John courteously and patiently walking us through the entire process and answering every question we had. We were nervous to go into the car buying process today - our first car purchased as a married couple - but Walker's fresh "best price", team selling, and non-commission approaches were a dream to experience as a consumer. My wife and I will never go back to the old way of heckling and fighting for every penny at other dealerships all the while wondering if they are trying to get you in the car that's actually right for you!! Thank you John, David, and the rest of the team at Walser - you've made lifelong customers out of this young couple!

Dear Walser: I have leased Chrysler mini vans from Walser for many years now. I just made my most current lease December 19th 2015, it’s a beautiful Chrysler Town & Country, Touring mini van. Paul Desmarais, was my sales associate. Paul has worked with both my husband and I for many years and I can’t imagine working with anyone else. Paul is personable and genuinely interested in his customer’s needs. He works over-time to make sure he’s is getting the very best for his customers. Buying a car can be stressful, but Mr. Desmarais, has always made it a positive experience for us. Paul’s solid knowledge of the Chrysler vehicles always gives me confidence in knowing I will drive away with the best vehicle for my needs. I can’t say enough positive things about Mr. Desmarais. I appreciate being able to walk into your dealership knowing that I will be treated with respect, given the utmost of personal attention, and given quality time from your best salesperson. Thank you, Walser! And, thank you Mr. Desmarais, for the many years of professionalism that you’ve provided for myself and my family. It is valued and appreciated. In Sincere Thanks, P K Carlson

Excellent Customer Service!!

By T.O. on 6/4/2015 at 3:27 AM. Helped by Bob Ebert, GM.

I have an '08 Dodge Ram that has only 47K miles on it. This past week a major problem that should have been covered by Dodge's lifetime power train warranty was discovered. Through an administrative issue between Chrysler and dealer computer systems, my vehicle record showed the warranty was no longer active and the wrap around warranty would not cover the repairs. After a lot of frustration and bad feelings trying to work with Chysler's 1-800 number, the GM, Bob Ebert, was able to reach out to his contacts at GM. He advocated on my behalf in a way that I would never have been able to do with a call center rep and help get the issue resolved. I am both appreciative and grateful for his commitment to customers and willingness to get involved and negotiate a resolution.

I would recommend this dealer.
