Well trained, professional sophistication

By jamesfullilove on 12/1/2017 at 5:00 PM. Helped by Ken Alexander.

Wil Terrell was excellent help in helping me choose the right car and the best deal for me. He is above average in intelligence, knowledge of product, professionalism and still congenial with a warm personality and integrity of character. Ken Alexander is the financial advisor who guided my through the process of document signing and financial choices. He is also professional, accurate, highly knowledgeable with a warm and friendly personality. His high tech table computer monitor made the process easier to understand and much less cumbersome than signing hard copy. Go there for a fine car and honest help finding the right one for you. I do not have a vested interest in the dealership, but I have bought many cars in my lifetime.

I would recommend this dealer.

All brag, no action

By Mr. Inbetween on 12/20/2016 at 10:07 PM. Helped by Employee not listed.

Went to this dealership to purchase a new-to-us vehicle. The salesperson proceeded to explain how he had been the leading salesperson at another dealership before coming to this one and "dazzled" us with tales of his feats of sales (and basketball) excellence. After enduring these sagas, we told him what we wanted and he said he'd get right on it and call us the next day. The next day arrived and when no call came, we called him. He explained he was hard at work on the matter and would call later. When later came and still no call, we again called him. At that point he explained that he would not be able to help us. Not sure what happened to the super salesmanship, but apparently it mysteriously disappeared, possibly somewhere around Keatchie. Needless to say, we have taken our business elsewhere.

I would not recommend this dealer.

No customer service

By DW on 12/13/2015 at 11:00 PM. Helped by Service Department.

Went to Yokem for service as indicated by the dash warning light and the sticker they put on the windshield showing it was time for an oil change. They took my car back to service and then told me it was just for a tire rotation. They reset the dash warning light and a new sticker on the windshield. Within 24 hours I noticed the engine was taking longer to start than normal. I checked under the hood and noticed one of the battery caps was left off and the battery was dry. I added water and put duct tape over the opening without the cap. I took my car back to yokem the next day. I explained what they did. They took my car back to check it. The service writer then explained my battery was going bad and I could purchase one from them. I told them I wouldn't be buying a battery from them, nor another car. I bought this car new from them and only had the service performed by them. After this instance, I used their website to try and get something done, but only got a few emails from them stating they were looking in to this matter. Several months have now passed and no response from them. Not only would I not recommend this dealership, but I am going to file a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General in my state. Be aware if you use this dealership's service department.

I would not recommend this dealer.

I bought a new Camry yesterday and I love it! It's a very nice car. Phillip was very nice and helped me get the best deal possible. I had a bad experience at John Harvey, so I decided to try Yokem and found out they are much better! Thank You!

Completely rude and aggressive

By angelique on 6/17/2015 at 10:50 PM.

I was excited on buying my new car and was ready to buy the hot lava RAV4. This was my third day back and I brought my mom. I was telling the salesman that when I looked online that the price was different than what was on the quote and i was wondering why. He got defensive and without looking said that it was another car and not the same one , then he said it was a different vin number and i showed him it wasnt, then he was saying the tech department has not done their job to upadte it and that the price he told me was the right price. i informed him that that was false advertisement. my mom moved on and asked about rebates, she told him this afternoon she saw a rebate in Longview online and he said that there is no rebate and someone lied to you without even looking into it. At that point we got up and walked out. he never apologized and he wouldnt listen to anything we had to say. He was treating us like idiots. very disrespectful!!

The entire staff was great! Will was so nice. I didn't think I was in a situation to get anything new. I had a down payment for a preowned corolla. I left with a awesome Corolla. I am thrilled and couldn't have done it all without Will's advise.

Wonderful Place to Buy or Service a Toyota!

By Toyota4Life85 on 9/25/2014 at 6:42 PM.

Our family has stayed with Yokem throughout the years, with my parents being the exception with their two most recent vehicles. Sales experience has always been great, service has been wonderful (minus the overprice oil change, but thats with majority of dealerships.) Gary Lindsay is my particular advisor and he is amazing!! Anytime my car is kept overnight, he will set me up with a courtesy vehicle until mine is finished. As far as sales go, Leonard Washington is the guy that sold us our vehicles. He's always been very nice to us. He is now the sales manager, but the entire staff is wonderful. My only complaint is that the chairs in the waiting area aren't that comfortable if you have to wait for longer than an hour, ha. If you're looking to buy or get service, Yokem is where it's at with Toyota's! I live by my Toyota and will always drive one!

I would recommend this dealer.

HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE

By GarrettGoines on 6/18/2014 at 4:36 AM.

*IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BUYING A VEHICLE FROM THIS DEALERSHIP, PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW. I PURCHASED A $20,000 VEHICLE THAT HAS NEEDED $6000 IN REPAIRS IN 60 DAYS, AND NOW HAS A VOIDED WARRANTY FROM THIS BUSINESS NOT DOING ITS JOB! This is the information regarding my recent automobile purchase (a 2008 Toyota Tundra with 43,000 miles on it) from Yokem Toyota in Shreveport, Louisiana. The vehicle needs $6000 worth of repairs from 60 DAYS from the purchase date with a VOIDED WARRANTY from parts that were installed PRIOR TO THE SALE. Vehicle was test driven and signed for on 3/22/2014. Vehicle had 42,300 miles. At the point of purchase I was offered a warranty through Toyota Extra Care. I purchased a $1800 3 year, 36,000 mile coverage plan. I was told by the financial advisor that I could not purchase a Toyota warranty after the vehicle left the dealer because it had been thoroughly inspected by their service department AND WAS PROVEN TO TOYOTA TO BE IN WARRANTABLE SHAPE. Vehicle was picked up the next weekend on 3/27/2014. Drivetrain noise was horrible, I checked the differential fluid and found it full of metal. The fluid was replaced before I even got the vehicle all the way home. It was driven home on 3/28/2014 and went straight to my local Toyota dealership (Philpott Toyota) for service. On the commute from Shreveport to Nederland the check engine light also came on (later found out to be the passenger side catalytic converter), the serpentine belt started squeaking, and I received a call from the person following me home that I had a brake light out. Vehicles must be able to be inspected by the state to be sold by dealerships, this one was not. The dealership asked me to claim the catalytic converter and the differential under warranty (which I feel I should have not had to do). The warranty that I had purchased for the truck would not cover either because the truck had modifications. The factory exhaust "y" pipe had been cut to fit an aftermarket muffler, and the differential had traction/stabilizer bars bolted to it. After warranty denied the claims, Yokem Toyota agreed to pay for those repairs. I asked for them to cover the squeaking belt also and was denied. I paid the $40 and put the belt on myself. The service manager admitted to hearing the belt squeaking while the vehicle was in his shop but stated it was not a necessary repair. These repairs were completed at 42,543 miles and SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE SALE OF THE VEHICLE. *Upon finding out that the warranty that yokem had sold me would not cover the differential, I was informed by the service manager of yokem that the warranty would not cover the item due to it being already broken prior to the sale of the vehicle. I called the warranty company myself to find out why the item was not covered. Toyota told me the differential could not be warrantied due to the modification (traction bars) installed on the vehicle. I was sold the vehicle and the warranty on the vehicle with the traction bars ON. After the repairs had been completed, I asked Toyota Extended Care warranty what I could do to make the truck warrantable. I was instructed to remove the traction bars, so I spent my own time removing them that week. The truck was making the same noise again on or around 4/11/2014. The vehicle was taken back to Philpott to be looked at. The dealership had to drain the differential 3 times to remove all of the metal shavings that had been left behind they say they could not clean. Service records submitted saying the traction bars had been removed from the truck at this time (43,012 miles). Vehicle was taken back to Philpott Toyota for the same noise on 5/9/2014 . The truck has 43,798 miles on it at this time, a total of around 1500 total miles from Yokem Toyotas lot to this time. A bearing was found to be bad in the transmission, and the unit needs to be replaced. Warranty was called on the issue, and the claim was denied due to the traction bars being installed previously. Yokem Toyota has denied covering the transmission repair. The vehicle would have never been purchased if I would have not been able to buy a reputable, honorable warranty on it. Yokem Toyota refused to take the vehicle back on May 23rd, 2014 at 3:25 PM. I either need the full amount paid for the vehicle back ($18,800), the vehicle taken back with no credit damaged, or for every repair up to 3 years or 36,000 miles from the point of purchase to be covered.

I would not recommend this dealer.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The first clue that these guys...

By michaelhayes63 on 12/27/2013 at 1:30 AM.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The first clue that these guys are crooked is that they wouldn't answer simple questions. They seemed to just want to get us to go there and "work it out." It took dozens of emails and texts and several calls, including to the GM of the Yokem Toyota, just to get them to tell us payment we'd be facing if we bought the car with no down payment. BIG RED FLAG. We live 5 hours away, so a drive there and back is substantial. In fact, you might say that once we drove all that way, we'd be inclined to buy a car rather than driving all the way back home. I was VERY suspicious that they were thinking the same thing. They never offered to have the car transferred to a dealer near us. They really wanted us there. We finally agreed on the price of the car, and we obtained financing from another bank which was 1.5% LESS than Toyota was offering. They understandably couldn't guarantee a trade-in value for our car without seeing it, but we gave them all the information about it we could, including year, make, model, miles, etc. It has a clean Car Fax report. They gave us a range from $21,900 to $25,900 for our car, in writing, depending on the condition of the car. Before my wife left on the long trip, I confirmed with the salesperson one last time the details of the deal, including the fact that $25K for our car was not unrealistic if it was in very good shape. Off she went, despite my strong reservations. As you probably have figured out by now, they pulled a classic BAIT AND SWITCH on us. They told my wife they could only give her $21K for our car. They said it was in great condition, but the miles on it made the value drop. Remember we had given them the miles back in the beginning, and gave them PLENTY of opportunities to change their mind. The $21K was BELOW their LOWEST estimate for our car! When my wife called me I was furious that Yokem Toyota would try to pull such a ridiculous and transparent stunt. Through a friend, we had spoken to someone at Toyota Corporate who knew the owner and GM at Yokem, and assured us that we would get the absolute best deal. So when my wife told them that she was leaving, they tried to get her to "meet us in the middle". Clearly they weren't offering us the BEST DEAL possible. They were STILL NEGOTIATING. Here's the punchline. The last thing they told my wife was: "You've come all this way, I'd hate for you to have to drive all the way home in your old car." So there you go, they wanted to pull that tactic on us all along. We took the bait, and then they made the switch. So as I write this my wife is driving home, alone in her old car, angry and frustrated, all because Yokem Toyota behaved dishonestly and shamefully. Everyone from the salesperson up to the General Manager had an opportunity to be honest with us. To make it right. No one did. Toyota may have a good product, but this experience has pushed me back to their competition, where I've had very good experiences in the past. And if I ever do buy a Toyota, it won't be within a 100 miles of Yokem Toyota.

I would not recommend this dealer.

Our salesperson and the person handling the paperwork...

By Camry01 on 9/3/2013 at 11:25 PM. Helped by Willie/Angela.

Our salesperson and the person handling the paperwork were wonderful! The "absent" person that the salesperson had to go talk to about price/deal no so good. He/she kept sending the salesperson back with the question, "What does your monthly note need to be?". We said multiple times that the monthly was not an issue, rather, the bottom line (sales price + trade in =). This went on 3 different times. I can honestly say that with 2 kids in tow, 100 degree + weather, towards the end of a Saturday, if he had to come ask us that same thing again I would have walked out! If a customer says something not just once but twice TAKE THE HINT!!! We are repeat customers to Yokem. This was the worst of the 3 experiences I can recall. Keep in mind...salesperson GREAT; lady completing paperwork GREAT; unknown negotiator not so much!

I would recommend this dealer.

I was impressed when I was taken out to the Venza I saw online. I went to John Harvey earlier that day and was told the vehicle online wasn't even there, so this was refreshing. It was as nice as it looked on the computer. Matt showed me everything in a short time period given that I had a doctors appointment that day. Did the entire purchase in less than an hour. I have to take the car in tomorrow for a final cleaning but couldn't be happier. Will buy here everytime.

By davisgirl on 5/28/2013 at 7:26 PM. Helped by The internet dept on my entune.

So I dont normally write reviews because I always forget, I needed to write about my experience here when I leased my last car. Normally you feel pressured, uncomfortable and pushed when you go to a dealership... not here! I was so surprised about how laid back they all were and yet so professional.. they all really seem to enjoy working there.. apparently a lot of construction was going on making their used car building like 3 times what it is now, which caused some parking troubles, but other than that the place was awesome from beginning to end. Wouldn't even consider going anywhere else!

Amazing. I know I bought the vehicle for a great price because a co-worker of mine was comparing his new car purchase from John Harvey and he paid over 2,000! dollars more than me and I have more equipment options. If I could marry Joey Wall and Jarred Hamilton I would! Joey was great with the car's options and what it can do for me and my commute. Jarred was more than helpful, he answered my questions about how to setup my phone to my car with entune and bluetooth. I highly recommend this dealership! I have bought here before and always get my service done here (normally its free) but now I really know if you want a Toyota there isn't another place around that can beat their prices!!!!

I would recommend this dealer.
